My buddy once called me from a gun show and said, "Ed, have you got 300 bucks? Get down here." I did. What he was talking about was a bunch of Lee-Enfields just like this. You mention them coming over to the states in new condition; the one I bought was still factory-wrapped in heavy waxed paper with a seal on the wrapper, and a date of 1956. Talk about new! I actually bought another, cheaper one from Pakistan as a trainer rifle so I could learn the bolt without scuffing up the new one. I still have both. Kudos to Bill for calling me that day. --Old Guy

I bought one of the "Lost Lot" rifles, sounds like you did too... These were the last of the unissued rifles found in Ireland, rumor has it they brought 3000 in in 93-94.. Mine was in the paper and cosmoline, mummified with a matching serial number bayonet. Beautiful rifles and really fun to shoot..

Imagine: It’s November, 1944. You’re a young German soldier stationed in the Netherlands. You awake early one cold morning, your breath so thick it cuts the stillness of the air like a knife. You clutch your Kar98K close, as you await the advancing Brits and Canadians. Through the Dutch mist, you hear a rustle. ‘It’s probably nothing’ you think as you try to stomach a cup of turnip coffee. Then, all of a sudden you hear a whistle, and hear ‘for the king!’ bellowed in a broad North Yorkshire accent. Then you see a whole platoon of brave chaps charge through the mist as a Bren gun rattles away in the background, and some absolute Chad has even affixed a bayonet to his Sten gun

My dad used to joke about the WWII bolt action rifles. He said the Germans made a good hunting rifle, the Americans made a good target rifle and the British made a good battle rifle. I have never owned a Lee Enfield but got offered a nice one in the early 90’s and regret not buying it. Hundreds of thousands of deer were shot in New Zealand with Lee Enfield Rifles. Interesting they dropped the length of bayonet as the shorter ones were apparently more handy in close combat. Thanks for sharing. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇳🇿

I never have to worry about inappropriate content or language when watching these with my kids. (Although I've had to explain the awkward "let's smoke some pot" every so often. I purchase one 34 years ago that was manufactured in 1955 the year I was born. It was one that was never issued still in the sealed mummy rap with bayonet serialize to the rifle. It took me hours and hours to break that rifle out of the mummy rap and additional hours to disassemble and clean all the grease and cosmoline our of the stock, bore, ,etc. then came the cleaning and polishing. Especially polishing the brass butt plate. It can with a proof target and cleaning kit. I also have an authentic Jungle Carbine in great condition again purchase 35 years ago. Believe it of not when I lived in Los Angeles where I have not lived in many years. I had friends that owned a large international arms dealer and I was able to have my pick of cool firearms when it was not such a stigma to own and shoot firearms. Ricky from IBM, Ret
