You need to make more videos. This was the best one I’ve watched related to the lee pro. Very detailed and you explain everything really well and make it a lot easier
Very good video and explanations. A few expansions to your info. COL is cartridge overall length. There is a case length for trimming cases. Lee's number on the disk is a volume number. using the generic density of the powder, Lee calcs a volume as a starting point based on the weight of powder desired. Lee is usually a little conservative in the thrown weight of powder. the chart is available in 2024 as a down load from the Lee website. the 4.0 grains you where throwing would reduce the velocity of the bullet around 30 fps from your loading data. in most instances, not enough to warrant a change to a different volume. the powder auto disk is activated by the case pushing up a hollow drop tube. the tube has a starting diameter to expand the inside of the case to allow tension on the bullet. the upper section of the tube has a taper that flairs the top of the case. moving the threaded section of the powder measure up or down varies the taper on the case. for cast bullets, this is very important as the reduced diameter will shave off lead. a jacketed bullet will usually side in OK. it is the taper that can work harden the brass and cause splitting, us only as much as is really needed to seat the bullet. when throwing the first throws of powder, I will throw a few double charges and immediately return to a safe depository for the powder, taping case upside down to make sure no powder is stuck in the case. this gives me a reference of the level of too much powder when visually checking during actual reloading. again, you did cover a lot of good information in an easy to understand method

good video, when I got my press, I don't recall the sheet you mentioned. I am glad that you did a highlighted section of that same sheet for the discs. that made it really simple to understand. I also believe you have a good idea with practices too. GREAT JOB!
Fantastic video it really helped to fine tune my new pro 1000. Lee should really thank you for making everything so simplified cause their instructions are not the best.

I've never reloaded a bullet in my life, and this has been my biggest fear with powder. You made it as simple as can be with this video.
Good video. Ive has a 1000 for eons. I use a smaller peanut butter jar with the jar lid screwed to the underside of the bench. Obviously matching a hole in the lid to the hole on the bench to the hole in the press. Then you can screw the jar on and off. Primers drop into the jar and you can go a long time before needing to dump. I also keep a second jar empty so I can switch out in case I have to de prime some live primers. Then I just put them in proper storage and switch back.
Great stuff. I am using the charge bar since my disk keeps throwing out far more than normal,being 4.5 is the target and I'm getting it all day using that instead. Cheers...

Excellent video, very well done. I've notice you had your digital scale sitting with one side past the edge and therefore unstable. This can mess up measurements. Another thing is having any kind of air movement like air flow from open window.
Outstanding job. Iam new to reloading and would like to know how you would go about setting the powder disk when you need an amount of powder that is inbetween two settings. I'am studying whether or not to purchase a Dillon, or a Lee. The Dillon from what I have seen can be adjusted if needed. Once again, thank you very much.
I just recieved my Lee progressive pro 1000 last Friday, which primers should I be using small rifle primers or large pistol primers for 9mm? The reason for the question, I noticed small rifle primers being used in video
any prob with static? i seem to have a lot of static and it is messing up my charge. i noticed alot of powder sticks to the rubber wiper that the powder passes through.
So i am getting this press on thursday. Can i use the same press for .223 and 9mm just with changing the turret and dies or do i need to change the shell plate too?
yes, the size shellplate for 223 is 4. and size 19 for 9mm. the shell plate is bolted to ram with one shcs for an Allen wrench. the first few change overs will take a little time, when you learn it will be a breeze.
Thanks i am finding this machine to be a pain in the butt to setup lubed up the cases good on the 223 and have about 90% of them pushing the decapping pin out of the collet.... thinking i am going to have to get another die as well because this one just doesn't cut it for crimped primers.
+wildturk79 you may have to get a punch and knock out those primers manually. then make sure you ream the primer pocket so you can use those cases. before I bought a new die I would buy cases instead. after you get through the crimped case s you shouldn't have the problem again. that is one reason I Do Not use crimped primer cases.
The complete instructions that come with the Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder measure has a chart in it that list the approximate charge in grains for the disk setting with instructions on how to use the chart. These charts also come with the load data information when you buy specific calibers of Lee dies.
