Guitarist Lee Ritenour's workshop at the International Jazz Day 2018 Daytime Education Program. Filmed on April 30, 2018 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Lee emphasizes many times on writing one’s own songs to develop not only techniques but also eventually to have chances to make money; this is the most sincere comment from a professional musician
This really was a great! master class. One of the best I’ve seen on video. Lee Ritenour was so generous in sharing all of this information. Very helpful. it is a shame that you couldn’t hear those two guitar players. I don’t know why they didn’t think of that Lee was perfect in volume and sound and you couldn’t hear these two guys. When they heard themselves back they must have been disappointed I don’t know how much they actually were heard on stage there.
Thank you so much for this upload it was so heartening to hear Lee drop these golden nuggets of wisdom,it was an emotional experience for me,love it ❤️
the times are changed for musicians, from the digital and computers revolution, Rit learned licks from wes and joe pass with vinil records and terrific sacrifice, nowadays young people can learn from a lot of sources ,and they can have a digital band at home, unfortunately those want to become professionals are in a terrific situation , millions of people want to play ,and lots of technically great monsters, unfortunately the market of recorded music is soo changed, and few records vinyl and,cds are sold, only streaming, you tube and mp3 files, so musicians today can live only with concerts in theaters and bars, hope after covid they are not desperate, ciao from Italy,( a guitar player at home playing together the greats with cds on the hi fi...).
Come on man, your Sound is pretty Generic. Russians So Polite, I would've left after minute 5. Feel for this guy's friends and family. Surely most boring man who Ever lived???💤💤💤🤣🤣🤣
