i wish more of the hunting entertainment community was as raw and focused as this is. i get so tired of the over commercialized latest and greatest junk that creates unrealistic expectations. this is real hunting and woodsmanship, something that is becoming increasingly hard to find.
I’ve watched this video at least 10 times. It’s hands down one of my favorites. Start to finish everything is perfect. It makes you feel like you were right there.
I met Lee Libby and got to tell him how much I liked this video. I hunted this way years ago age and health caught up with me but continue to savor the memories from years past. His words at the end of the video are what really resonated with me. Thank you for sharing a few words with me it meant a lot.
So you guys know the ending of me talking was filmed two months later and I was sick as a dog . The camera guy showed up and said I need voice over ! Get out of bed! I look bad 🤢
The film, the hunt, the narration and the voice over is just absolutely awesome. I love it. As someone earlier stated, this is truly the essence of hunting! Well done sir.
Only those who have really lived the "walk" and passion felt by this film, can really identify with it's underpinnings. When I am too old to no longer "walk" the "walk" , I, - we'll, be haunted by the wild. Great short film.
Wow, why go to a cornfield in Illinois with 42 deer per sq mile, when you can rough it in the freezing cold pine barrens of Maine hunting for a needle in a haystack buck. Congrats guys. Hard work Pays Off for sure!
Fishing With Dog exactly my thoughts, this is real hunting right here! Not the guys that wear their $1000 Sitka gear, have their deer pre-scouted for them and their deer are all named... nope, this video right here is what hunting is all about!
Because cornfield hunting is for people that can't hunt or who are lazy. We like the sport of it and to be out alone in the woods instead of farm raised deer
One of the most enjoyable hunting films I've ever watched. Thank you for this, it reminds me of my childhood walking miles a day in the mountains of PA. I hope that one day I'll get to set foot in the woods of Maine.
How could anyone dislike this video there so much love for the hunt and chase of the deer it just gose to show I'm not the only one who loves and respects the white tail deer of northern Maine
I get that mentality, but I cover all my ground pre season and then hone in on good deer areas during the season. So in a sense yes I cover alot of ground, but I don't went I need a deer... make sense?
I seldom watch any RU-vid video more than once. This one I’ve watched at least five times. Puts me right there in the woods, in that snow looking for that buck. Nice job guys. 👍🏻
I re watched it again 3 more times tonight with my family, truly loved it. Shows all the values that were instilled in my family and I from a young age. Great job and many more years of big buck hunting to you all my friends. Happy Hunting
This is a Great short film Lee. This was looking in a mirror for me and watching myself for many years. You have given this old NY Hunter a great motivation for this years hunt which opens in 11 days and hopefully many many more. Thank you!
I have the utmost respect for you guys that’s the purest form of deer hunting out there I hunt in upstate Pennsylvania it’s a pumpkin army everywhere I go
Profound words, about personal perspective and sharing a common purpose regardless of contradiction. Gave me chills. The best time I've spent all week was watching that film.
The real deal. Thank you for the effort. That is the most accurate video on real northern New England deer hunting I've seem. Word for word my hunting lifestyle history. Starts tomorrow an inch on the ground and cold, been almost 365 days waiting to make more memories. Thanks again
I stand with this guy, God bless all you boys, and your families, great hunt, dandy buck, great success and safety, to you and all a part of this channel
At age 58, I have been seriously hunting deer for 43 years. During those many years I have. Put my boots on with great optimism. This is what I consider an exceptional, soulful, and thoughtful hunting video. The story, content, filming, editing, completion, plus the values philosophy at the end all combined to make a visual symphony of deer hunting. It is completely different from the garbage
In my opinion, this is a great tribute to a true Maine hunting tradition: tracking big bucks. That the film maker could keep up with you, Lee, and capture every aspect of the hunt is nothing short of miraculous. So, too, is his portrayal of your thinking and what's behind your deer hunting. I sincerely hope that you two collaborate on more projects here in Maine.
When Lee talks about having fun at the end about going out for a night or a day and finding the good in them! He means it! I'm glad you included the footage.
That was awesome! The journey, the work and the dedication. The behind the scenes story let people see the working side of hunting. You fellas in Maine need to put more of these videos out.
I have watched this video several times now and consider this the best, true to life, inspiring video on deer hunting I have ever seen. Lee, thanks for putting this together for us...this goes beyond just a deer hunting video, it makes you really think about things...again, thanks so much for this!
When I say we are sportsmen this is the person to whom I refer. When I tell you about the heritage of hunting this is the person you should think about. We have grown up with these basic tenants. We learned from those who came before us. We go into nature with our skills of woodsman ship and our physical ability. It is an endeavor that we cherish. Well done Sir.
This absolutely catches the essence of deer hunting in Maine. The strong heritage of it, the camaraderie between hunters, battling the terrain and elements, all of it. It literally makes you want to head up to the big woods immediately. Great film, and great buck!
I truly enjoyed this. I also like to stalk hunt. It kills me being deployed and missing hunting season but watching vids like this helps pass the time and lessen the sting. Nice buck brother.
GeninTengu , I remember those days. I was a young man then . First of all Thankyou what you’re doing right now is probably the most important thing you’ll ever do. You won’t ever forget it , you will be dreaming about it when you least expect it The memories never leave you. Now as for hunting, I once came back to the world for a season it was so hard to go back. The deer camp will always be there and you will get back. Keep your focus on what you are doing now and think about tomorrow tomorrow . Be safe . A little advice from the medic .
Thank you for this im a deer hunter from Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦 very similar country it feels familiar tagging along with you just like following a wise uncle or grandfather.
An excellent short film that accurately depicts what buck hunting in the big woods is all about. It's not about taking the easiest path to success. That would rob us of the true treasure, the experiences of the journey. Well done and I wish you many more years of hunting.
Absolutely, exceptional, tremendous and outstanding, very well done, a beautiful view of the hunt, and a heart for doing it with someone and sharing the experience, what a beautiful time, thank you,,we all needed to see this
so glad to hear you say that! i started hunting at the age of 7 , by my self at the age of 12! i cover miles and miles in VT mountains each year! when i use to come home my dad and sisters Boyfriend would ask, how many today? when i would say 11, or 9, or 5 or 15 they would always laugh! but when i brought my first Buck back all by my self! they Believed pretty quick! Good Luck ! my son and i are starting youth day here in VT tomorrow!!! were EXCITED! just trying to beat the Flu first! no matter though were Hunting!
Great camera work and production. This is a well done video. Thanks for not using some horrible music background. The wind and foot steps were perfect. I like the way the drone only captures the hunter .
I’m a trucking hunter and I found your podcast in the Kenworth about a month ago. I’ve been looking forward to seeing this video, since I heard you guys talk about it! I’m sitting here at a truck stop in Illinois, waiting with baited breath!
Great job watched entire show. Beautiful cabin. I liked your quote at the beginning. Nice beagle. Beautiful big woods. Nice narration. Very engaging. Gives you the feeling of how small we really are. IF we are doing it together. We have something in common good stuff god bless!
Just found this video. Salute to ya! When you said "it doesn't matter if your knees hurt or your back is sore..." I ground hunt like this in Southeast Kentucky - walking in, playing the wind. In all weather conditions. Got a tenpoint at 15 yards in archery - gave me the full sneak stare down for 7-8 minutes. When he turned after some does, that was all she wrote! Appreciate you effort here!
I just returned from a deer scouting trip at my camp in Marinette Co. WI. Snow was in the air up there today - the juices were flowing!! I knew this would be waiting for me when I got home and as I drove the 2 hours, I savored the anticipation. I have heard about it for almost a year and it was worth the wait. Well done Lee. After all you had to put up with in getting this released - you nailed it. WI opener is Nov. 23...I don't want to wish my life away but can I make the time go by faster? I am going to watch this film once a day till then, I guarantee you.
The production quality is amazing. T.V. like. 6'3 black living in Brooklyn NY. usually on UFC, Boxing and ESPN videos. This was a interesting change. Thumbs up.
This is a video about deer hunting that was long overdue. The fact that you picked your cameraman knowing that his beliefs are not aligned with yours, and the fact that he went into it open minded shows that we can find common ground. His cinematography was excellent and somehow caught more than just the hunt. It caught the almost spiritual reason that we head north and take on a deer under the deer's conditions. If I wanted to kill a deer, just for the sake of killing a deer, I'd stay home and shoot one off my back deck. Hunting is way more than that to me. You guys managed to capture that here. Great job Lee!
Great job Lee and thanks for sharing this with us! Rifle season is knocking on our doors here in the UP and I can’t hardly wait to take the first track this season! This film has me even more fired up! Thanks again!
Great film Lee! I put it on the tv so my friends could enjoy it with me and we all loved it. Much respect for the BWB crew and hope to get my butt up there soon.
Getting a little bit misty-eyed. That was Maine deer hunting the way my late Dad taught me. There's so much more to it than just killing. It's about making memories to last a lifetime. Thank you.
I don’t tend to watch RU-vid videos from start to finish. However, this was so beautifully filmed that I couldn’t resist watching every second. Thank you
Second go watching this film and likely not my last. Great show. Lee is a great hunter, and a great character too. The shooting style makes the haunting feeling of the big woods palpable.
Beautiful buck, thank you for sharing . I like to cover ground and it was also an older cousin that introduced me to that way of hunting . Bait and wait is the popular way to hunt here in New Brunswick Canada. Heart is my favourite cut to enjoy first on the night of a successful hunt .
Well done. The cinema created by the void of dialogue was very cool. It’s how tracking really is. It is only you out there. Great job, to both of you guys.
Fantastic. Rangely isn't but a hop and skip from where I grew up hunting the woods. Cold, snowy mornings reminds me of the Johnson wool and wood stove at camp
Ah, to hunt the BIG WOODS, looking for that big ridge runner, what memories you bought back, beautiful the way you put the story together. I could taste that fried venison, as you put in your mouth, thanks for bring back the memories.
Hi Lee, congrats on winning the film festival!! Please make some more films. Just the other day I came across the BWB podcasts and fell in love with it. prior to this i tried to stomach a couple of hunting podcasts but couldn't get into them. Big Wood Buck pod cast has me listening really intently. I hope that some day i can meet you , Hal and the rest of the BWB gang
Have same in 30-06 , Williams peep site , painted with red nail polish then coat of clear ( thanks to the wife ) put an orange fiber optic front bead , I’m left handed and finally sent it to have left hand safety and Timmins trigger . Can’t wait for this season. 75 yards 5 shots offhand 3” group
Great to see a well filmed and artistically created deer hunting video that captures the essence of the hunt...free of the canned product placements and commercialization. Makes me want to grab the Remington BDL 30/06 and Army surplus jacket and hit the PA mountains like I did when I was younger.
14:59. Hahaha thanks bud! I love this part! I watched this video multiple times now and love every min of it. All the little details compiled to make this short film do an excellent job of sharing the passion of hunting weather it be in Maine or any other rural big woods destination.
Loved the documentary....so true. Kudos to my fellow hunter....I've hunted Mt. Katahdin and Turner in Maine. Beautiful country. Nice deer....biggens in Maine. Lee must know the Benoits....big trackers too. Best from Catskill Mtns. NY.
What you guys go through just for a deer is off the charts tough , I am so thankful for my easy North Carolina deer , if we have a snow , we just wait till it melts and then go hunting, season here is first of September through January one
Great film...captures all the elements of tracking in north woods, the rattling beech leaves, the freezing cold water crossings, the snow down your neck....silicone spray your door gaskets make your day start easier, lol, great job.....
