I think that's just cause Lee can't focus his power correctly so every time he tries to go fast a burst of uncontrolled energy just destroys the floor but since the other characters can control their chakra it simply looks like teleporting
Way better than anything that Dragon Ball does to try and convince me of their speed. All they do is animate the fight mostly normally and tell us that they're moving 10 quintillion times FTL, with a couple of teleporting effects thrown in, the same kind of effects that they already used back in early Dragon Ball.
@ShadeSlayer1911 If you don't get convinced in the speed in dragon ball it's because you're not watching it properly. Just the fact that Namek needed 5 min to explode but it took loot of episodes and they were fighting such at a speed for us viewers shows how much they can do in those 5 minutes. It's clear about their speed but I get what you mean that this scene of Lee doing that clearly shows a good Speed+Strenght feat, the kick its just so good.

The way I see it, Gaara should still have won this, I get the thematic point of this, but ffs... that Reverse Lotus move did nothing to Gaara and that's the only problem that this fight has, he should've sustained serious damage in the abdomen and chest from that desperate attack from Lee and been in a hospital afterwards, but instead, Gaara just Brushes off all of that. Was that really too much to ask, Gaara nursing off a few left over marks from this reverse lotus move? The point would've remained that Lee used it too early and lost the fight, wasting the advantage, but the move is still said to be very powerful, so powerful that misusing it puts its own user in so much danger, so why did it end up looking so pathetic and look like the single worst 'last resort attack'?
@@sarangkecoa6753 No, he's using Sharingan so that he can see Lee's movement very clearly because the high speed movement would look like a blur in the naked eye.
@@kitkatman6940 It's clear weightless lee would've beaten everyone besides gaara and neji at that point. And perhaps kankuro cuz he might be tricky with that puppet. However, primary lotus was necessary because neji would be able to see lee at that speed (the speed he moves without weights). And one hit is all it would take to end the fight from neji. The speed has to be such that neji can't even use kaiten (rotation) or react to damage lee in any way.
@@sherwinpeters7397 being able to see isnt enough, he would have needed to also be able to react to him, which i doubt he could at this point in the anime. Yeah he could have used rotation, but he would need to rotate forever, because the moment he stops that would be an oppening for lee to beat him.
This is the fight everyone refers to when trying to show how good Naruto as a show is. It is also the perfect metaphor as to the fact Neji is fucking right, no matter how much hard work and effort you throw in, you'll never be as good as the priveleged kids born with power and talent.

Lee in the 5th Gate could destroy everyone in that room except for the teachers (although I think he can win against the sand jonin) and the only one who can resist his attacks (which was humilliated by him btw). Not really, this here shows how strong one can get through training, lee wasnt just a "not talented person", he literally could not use his chakra, yet he not only showed he was the best leaf genin there, he also took on gaara using only tai jutsu. Also, lets not forget the guy vs madara fight, dude almost did what most of the strongest ninjas were struggling to do, which was kill madara. Sasuke and naruto both needed to become like gods to FIGHT madara, guy almost KILLED him, without any bijuu, god powers, or whatever, dude just trained super hard.
Neji was only partly right. Guy is a great jonin and base, and with the 8 gates open, the only people stronger than him have absorbed TEN tailed beasts or been endowed with power from/are alien gods.
If anyone here thinks that Kakaahi is weaker or stronger than Gai, then you're wrong. They're plenty equal, just of different type. Raw power & speed alone, sure, Gai is the strongest out of the two. But in a fight of K vs G, or hell, in any fights, tactics matter. Gai is a Taijutsu specialist while Kakashi is an all-rounder. All Kakashi had to use to win against Gai is something that almost all Taijutsu specialist is weak to: Genjutsu, something which is almost metaphysical that Gai can't even touch. Call it winning by using cheap tricks or whatever, but it wouldn't change the result. A win is a win, and if we're talking about in wars, it means life or death, since Shinobi are meant to fight in such situations.

@@alegen5704 Guy himself says in this episode that not even Neji could defeat Lee (all 5 gates open of course). So yeah, you could say Neji was the strongest one because he wouldn't almost die using any of his abilities, like Lee did, but if you count all 5 gates, Lee is the obvious winner.

Kakashi realised Lee genius when Guy helped Lee open 5 gates by age 12. 6 at 17. 7 at 20. Kakashi knew that can not be done with effort alone. When it's hard for most talented ninjas to even open 1
@@JohnSmith-tx4od by comparing Kakashi to Gai and Lee. Gai and Lee would always use Omote Renge at 2nd Gate at the very least, and never when they did not open any Gates at all. Kakashi himself could do Omote Renge, so I assume that he could probably open 2nd Gate if not 3rd at most. And he probably learned it through the usage of the Sharingan he got from Obito when Lee was fighting against Gaara and he was challenged by Gai.
The thing about Lee is that everyone was afraid to fight Gaara, even Shikamaru, but he wasn't. He would fight no matter who he had to fight. And he was excited to. Even after losing to the sound ninja. That alone should have made him one of the strongest characters in the show and not made him irrelevant in Shippuden.
So strong without even needing to channel his chakra into the elements. Just pure talent and determination. Rock Lee is dope af. I remember when I first watched this when I was still a kid. So long ago!!

I always thought that Lee should've won this... But now thinking about it... I think it's good that he lost. He helped putting Gaara over as a treat and he would've gotten his ass beat by Sasuke in the 2nd turn. (The same Sasuke that copied his techniques to beat Gaara) Imagine loosing to a copy
sasuke would have lost, he just did damage to gaara cause kakashi saw gaara fighting syle and understand that gaara simply counters pure taijutsu and then gave sasuke the ultimate counter to the gaara's shield: Chidori But Sasuke's chidori at that point could only be useful against a slow target, hence gaara against a fking speed of sound Rock Lee, chidori would be more of a burden than a tool, and theres no way sasuke could keep up with weitghtless Lee
when i was grade 4 this is my favorite episode of naruto . i always admire rock lee's taijutsu ability and then when guy transform vs madara my brain was explode and totally shocked 😅😂
Less rocks to animate and movement is locked in a square room with barely any debris. Night Guy had him generate a whole moving red aura that covered easily 2 meters around him that was shaped like a flowing dragon head. Then he throws the kick which decimates the ground he passes through and there's the kick which impact also included both Madara's chest and Guy's leg shattering. Then it continued dragging on a large battlefield kicking up more rubble and then crashing into the tree which left a huge impact strike on the base. Tl;dr: There was more going on in the background for the Night Guy kick than the contained speed pummeling that Lee was giving Gaara. Faster to animate streaks than a moving freight train with an aura.
If Lee had used 8 Inner Gates and Lotus as practice even once, he could have won. Because when Gai fought Madara and used Evening Elephant for the first time, he had a slight stop from the pain but since he acclimated to it, he said that he could go multiple times without an opening next time.
During the orchimaru arc, there should’ve been a might guy vs orochimaru standoff! Guy doing an asakajaku or even hirudora on the 2 reanimated Kages would’ve been awesome. But it was a potential that was lost!!
I mean, I get it Gaara had the sand armor but to get out of the fight with no scratch or impediment after you've been hit with the kicks and punches of a 5th gate Taijutsu master? Yeah, bullshit. Then Gaara is scared when Sasuke fucks around with him with Lee's speed? No way Sasuke would hit harder than Lee. As for Naji, he got knocked down with just one punch ( after he exhausted himself indeed ) so really, he would be dead meat by the time Lee kicks him in the air.
First of all 20 years later I'm still crying from emotion bursting out rewatching this. Second of all I think Lee was the strongest Genin other than the Jinchuriki. I think Lee would have mopped Saskue or Neji, or any other Genin. Too bad we didn't get to see it.
Actually depending on what was at stake I think Lee could have even handled Naruto at this point, but that would have been up to the writers. Come to think of it did we ever see Nartuo lose? Like black out, not defeat an opponent, and wake up in a hospital or something? I dont think Naruto ever had to be protected by anyone?

@@andy6302 naruto lost to sasuke in battle of the valley of the end during the sasuke retrieval operation. He also lost to orochimaru during the chunin exam in the forest but it was already given since he's still just a kid without battle experience.

Now that i think about it Gaara and Rock Lee really were the highlights of naruto part 1.Gaara got amazing character development and in shippuden got to be a well respected man.And Lee beat the odds and became one of the most respected ninja.unfortunelly he got shat on in shippuden
This fight hits different after Guy vs Madara. Lee vs Gaara is the exact same scenario. Conveys the same message, demonstrates the same principle. Never underestimate the guy below you.
Two genins with jonin level abilities fighting for the rank of chunin. Everyone else in the room didn't stand a chance against these two (except maybe Naruto if Kurama chose to help him).
For those who say Lee should have won the fight: he could never have won. Lee had used all his resources, all his energies, and his last resorts, not Gaara. Of course, Gaara had his sand defense, but he was not saved by "plot armor". Gaara hadn't used all of his resources or strength (Lee didn't make him bleed, Sasuke did, and Gaara didn't turn into a demon in front of Lee, but had to in front of Naruto). Lee could never have won, it's time to accept that.
