Leeds is a very underrated city, many people only hear of london, manchester and birmingham but leeds is actually the 3rd largest stand alone city in england, it just does not get as much coverage although with ch4 headquarters in the city now as well as new government departments in the city this should change. It has such a great city centre with beautiful old architecture spanning many streets together with a vast amount of new modern skyscraper tall buildings currently going up, its also one of the fastest growing city centres in europe with cranes up all over the city, numerous skyscraper buildings of over 40 floors to be constructed, currently leeds and manchester are the two most developing cities in england!
I used to live in Leeds in the late 1980's early 1990s and so much has changed. I was lost in some parts especially now Brigate has been pedestrianised. The Market is a shadow of it's former self. Only one of my places of work still there The New Penny. Bananas and Rockshots are now a Cuban restaurant by the looks of it and the Golden lion Hotel seems to be no more too. Glad The Bridge pub is still going. Had some great nights and days in there. I may have to get a train ticket and go and see all the c changes for myself. Great video thoroughly enjoyed it.
There’s been very heavy investment in Leeds over the years but they’ve managed to keep most of the old architecture intact. We got a good view of the Headrow and that’s changed a lot. Also bustling Briggate….Fantastic sophisticated looking arcades that show off the city’s beauty. And of course many streets are only walkways now, as they have been for a long time. Looking forward to returning to visit this great city, to hear the locals speak. I miss that. One of my old stomping grounds. Can’t wait.
Im in leeds this weekend been going 15 years now im from hackney london .. reason i love up north is it reminds me of old london the ppl are more friendly i pop to wakefield but i love leeds centre i stay in queens hotel or cosmo round near leeds bridge if not hotel i stay in rothwell ..i love leeds its brill ..i was on coach and we stopped in manchester for break i didnt like the feeling of place but we then stop leeds and as smoking near old police station i felt at home and been going ever since
@@Sorrely1 It's not completely a dump of course the parks are wonderful but there is a terrible litter problem and much of the inner city is ugly but it's the lack of a modern rail system that makes the city's third rate status clear. And a complete lack of ambitious politicians. Mayor Brabin and James Lewis. Nice but minor league.
Thanks for watching Craig Chadwick. I definitely agree. I can to Leeds to attend an event in the city centre and I sneaked out to film the area. I wished I had more time... Will definitely come back!
I got here by chance, but anyway it was 1 hr 12 min of my time super mega well spent; beautiful, clean and well cared city. keep this way on Greetings from Argentina!
The biggest problem with Leeds, and this film displays it well, is the number of pointless roadworks. They are forever digging up the streets. It causes both traffic mayhem and pedestrian inconvenience. Nevertheless, this is a great video and does to a large extent capture the 'feeling' of Leeds. I'm sure for many, many years to come, people will watch this and rekindle their memories. Thank you.
Interesting analysis Budget Nuclear Weapons, I wished I could have explored more that day but I didn't have much time. I will definitely come back to Leeds to do more recording. Thank you very much for watching 🙂
When I visited from Australia a few years back, I found Bath to be the most beautiful city there, followed by Edinburgh. Never saw Leeds. Didn't like London. Thanks for this vid. It gave me an insight of a city I overlooked when over there.😃👍
Town isn't a patch on what it used to be, it's been cleaned up and pedestrianised. But the soul had been sucked out of the city centre now. So many shop and bank closures. It's such a shame as I used to spend a whole day shopping in town, now it's a couple of hours tops and back on the bus.
I think you're camera style is awesome, the way you capture normal public life, & documenting the architecture, smooth, calm & relaxing. Do you actually create documentary content on your channel because i really think you have star quality in that field 🙂😀👍♥️😁
@@ThatCarGuy1983 whose asking?!!!😱🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯holy shit!!! Not long after I left, they pulled the red brick school down but kept the old part! I remember the headteacher Mr Bateson, he ran over my foot with his car!!!
Nice to see you filming in other cities. Be great to see you filming in area's outside City Centre's too, similar to your West Midland video's. Thank you again for the great content👍
Thank you for watching the video. I went to Leeds to attend an event but no one showed up so I decided to film the city instead in a freestyle fashion. Beautiful city. I'll go there again when I can for a part 2. Thank you for the suggestion. When I have the opportunity, I'll venture outside of the city centre. Have a lovely day 🙂
Leeds it’s such a beautiful city so clean, I think personally it looks better than Birmingham, it’s more established planned better than Birmingham but it’s a great video 👍🏻❤️❤️
Sorry mate, Leeds is not better than Birmingham, I was born in Birmingham so I am biased, I live abroad in Brazil, people here have heard of Birmingham city and Aston Villa ! Lol
Hello Robert, I agree Leeds is beautiful city. I really need to go back because there are areas in the city centre I didn't explore. Thanks for watching the video.
Both shit holes ruined by council policies. Leeds lass who went to uni in brum. Nothing much between them but least Birmingham doesn't have the paedo gangs and legal red light zone but then Leeds hasn't got that many violent gun gangs
@@ifyousayso1466 You look for gangs and sex in any city you will.find it, doesn't take away anything from the city overall and the only shit hole you can talk about is the one in your head.
@@musiclover5023 I am 61 Leeds born and bred grew up on the gruesome dump that is Belle Isle estate so no one knows better than me when I say that Leeds is a dump led by third rate idiotic unambitious politicians.
I graduated from Uol I really missed the old day back in leeds, I m pretty sure if u go to first arena I might in your video (just a joke haha I was in my flat at that day).
Great work Joss, I have not walked around Leeds centre for many years due to disability so this is an eye opener for me, there are some quarters that are beyond recognition, and are non the worse for it, but much of it is as it was in the 60's, so thanks for the wander around.
I loved his voice, it looks very nice there! Everything is well organized . How is Liverpool? Sorry, doing some research on Liverpool so thought of putting this question here and get some info.
Hello Divyansh. Leeds City Centre is very beautiful. It was actually my first time in this city. I went to Liverpool city centre only once in 2014 or 15. My impression was: this is the L.A of England. It has very tall, modern buildings. I was fascinated by the women there: blond hair with pink lipstick and nicely dressed. I like Liverpool accent, you roll the R. And the people are very nice. English people are well-known to be welcoming & polite.
@@citiesthroughmyeyes Thank you for sharing this information. I have researched a lot and will also be planning visit to liverpool. And the video was 👍 Waiting for more content from you.
@@citiesthroughmyeyes not been to liverpool but I've heard a lot of the wealthy wags (footballers wives and girlfriend's) most of them live in Cheshire. A lot of liverpool girls are influened by them. Cheshire which is not far from liverpool is an affluent area with a lot of footballers living there and wealthy business people
Great video and Keep it up!!! Q1. What day in July 2021 did you record this in Leeds? Q2. You get funny looks when recording with DJI OM 4 and Iphone 11?
Hello Richard, I recorded the video on July 24th at 12:05 pm. I record the majority of my videos with iPhone 11 Pro and I do get sometimes funny looks but it's rare. I live in Birmingham so I mainly film there. Brummies are notoriously easy going so I film the city day & night with great ease. When I rewatched Leeds for editing purposes, I was surprised to see so many funny looks 😀 which I didn't notice when I was recording. It was my first time going to Leeds and I was too busy looking around for buildings to record, for streets to explore to notice people's faces. It wouldn't have phased me regardless because I am used to filming in public. But if it was my first time recording in public... I would have probably stopped mid-way. Lol 😄
Cidade Natal de Jeff Christie,o qual, admiro muito, inclusive, tenho o trabalho d de The Jeff Christie, aliás,as moças são lindíssimas, charmosas e elegantes. Parabéns, são privilegiados
Leeds is in a different league to liverpool, far grander in every way and also the 2nd financial centre of england, in fact this year it ranks 2nd in terms of office uptake
Hi Hope you are fine.. i saw your videos I am coming to leeds as a student. I need double room to stay near city centre like 1 to 2 miles. Kindly help if you know one Thank you 😊😊
Many people say that locals and Leeds is very racist and segregated and people are not open minded not surprised once you leave London you will find segregation and overt racism in all UK cities like ,Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
And youve obviously never visited other places that are filthy, you haven't traveled dear, get out into the world and have a good look, Leeds has come a long way, I hadn't been back for 26 years, and not looking bad Leeds
Hey been there in my younger days I know all about those areas, they weren't bad then but now I do hear from my friend in Leeds for sure Harehills, and Armley well known for the Jail, Chapeltown, but then those places had money, I was saying Leeds downtown is not too bad, I lived a walk from there, Saxton Gardens, I would say Liverpool perhaps Manchester could beat Leeds
