Bill's death hit me hard as I always played as him since the day I got the game. When the sacrifice DLC came out 2 years later all my friends wanted to play as my character through it but I put my foot down and said I started this game with Bill and I am gonna finish it as Bill. They always played as the others anyway until the DLC so they could not say much.
I still find myself coming back to this song after all this time. Crazy how a fictional band with music only existent in one game could somehow sound better than some music today. What’s still crazier is the Easter egg in the song at 2:07, it sounds like a word riff of some sort, but if you play it backwards you’ll hear the singer saying “Billll iiiiis DEEEEAAAD.” He is literally telling us that Bill is dead before we even find him in the finale. When Valve puts their heart into a game, they can make some crazy good stuff.
Man, passing by 12 years down the road makes listening to this song sadder than I thought, it only makes me remember much better times on my life, but time stops for no one I suppose.
1: Bill is dead 2: The originals survivors are in the bridge 3: The others survivors arrive 4: Ellis love Zoey 5:They complete two capitules 6:Nick see Bill Dead 7: BLA BLA BLA 8: The three TANKS they came 9: The others survivors pour all the cans 10: THE BRIDGE IS COMING DOWN, AND THE SURVIVORS FELT

Man I was so convinced for the longest that they were gonna make a left 4 dead 3 and make this band the main characters of the game maybe even release some more kickass songs and im so disappointed that that never happened 😔☹️😭
R.I.P. Bill, the saddest but most logical sacrifice so the survivors can be happy and safe. R.I.P. Bride Witch, her special day ruined by the infection and was turned into a witch
There was a man... His name was Bill "William" Overbeck. He was one of the 8 survivors of a zombie apocalypse. However all survivors met after a long time. At first they were just groups of 4. The first group, Zoey, Francis, Louis and Bill, had survived through many dire situations. They all had almost died plenty of times but they would help each other and lived. At the final task, lowering a bridge to get on a ship to escape, everything had been going well. Until one of the power generators for the bridge broke when everyone was halfway up the bridge after powering it to go up. To go down the bridge would basically be suicide, you would go down to restart the generator to help your fellow survivors BUT if you would even be able to distract and kill lots of zombies to get there. Bill, an old man, who had survived through the apocalypse with people he wasn't even family or friends with but just survivors, had chosen, to sacrifice himself for the survivors. He had a family before the apocalypse. A family that would make him feel happy and want to get him to survive. But Bill. Bill did the right thing. He lighted a molotov with his cigarette and threw it at the 3 giant zombies, destroying everything in sight. Bill fought through the zombies himself, his fellow survivors telling him to return. Bill went to the generator, reconnected it, and went to rest on a power generator. His final resting place. After fighting through countless of zombies and betrayers with his companions, he sacrificed himself for his companions, his friends, the people he could trust at the hardest time the planet was facing. Not bad, the ending was quite nice. But, as someone who's studied writing, I'm sort of triggered by the over usage of narration. While it isn't that bad, narrating and adding words isn't the way to go. Plus, you gotta be a bit poetic, for example: Your word: 'They all had almost died plenty of times but they would help each other and lived.' How I'd do it: 'They've brushed with death many times, and no matter how further down they got into their early graves, they always escaped, and merely brushed the dust off.' If ya want to add me, for some weird ass reason or some shit idk, feel free to. steamcommunity.com/id/kefk4gaming
Scrubs McNubbs Yeah, I`ve never really wrote anything so this is like one of the first stories I`ve made. Thanks for the criticism, very appreciated :D
sara the killer of the 5 kids ahhh bill a big man epic soldier i always use francis but in sacrifice i use bill a M16 and molotov a HealthKit and adrenaline
When I graduated as part of the Class of 2021, I put in my AirPods and played this, I felt proud that day of showing my pride to the Source Engine games that raised me. From Garry’s Mod, to Half Life 2 & it’s episodes, to Left 4 Dead, to Portal, those games will ALWAYS be in my heart and I’ll play them until I die! Thank you Gabe Newell and the developers who work for Valve for making somebody’s childhood! Long live the Source Engine!
Don't forget to thank all the devs who've contributed to those games as well. Amen to that, Valve and the communities surrounding Source were magical. I'm so happy to have grown up in that era.
I have theory, that Left 4 Dead 1 hadn't any licensed soundtrack. Because there weren't any songs from "Midnight Riders". And there definitively weren't any areas from The Passing campaign.
Rest easy now, old fella... we'll miss you. Always. In honor of Bill, for the dedication, heart and care he had for Zoey, Francis & Louis, you will never be forgotten! If we have to kill millions of tanks for you, we will! If we need to kill millions of witches for you, we will! R.I.P William "Bill" Overbeck, the soldier in you is still very much alive in our hearts
Because nobody can survive forever or live forever. Not every ending is a nice one. I mean either way the survivors will die of old age at the least. When I read "Nobody Survives Forever" I was like "Oh crap someone from L4D2 dying too!?"
@Michael Greene Well, the survivors who previously died before they reach the next safehouse come back later on after the game finishes loading the next one
Too much nostalgia when I hear this track I remember being in Grade 6-7 when I started playing L4D and L4D 2 Now after years of not even watching anything or playing anything related to L4D2 Just stumbling across this track on RU-vid YEARS later just brings memories back The feeling is special as fuck
And I remember being Grade 2 when this came out! My parents SPOILED THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME. Branding me into a Criminal and an inspiring person too at the same time. And I remembered playing this game with my friends and showing everyone in my grade VIOLENCE using this game. It was SO FUNNY! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Goddamn it 6 years later and I still feel the same way, but this time, it just feels weird. Doesn't feel like I'm getting too many memories back since it was all made during gr 6 and 7. Looking at this old ass comment from 6 years ago just makes me feel old as fuck, and that's because It should make me feel old as fuck. It's crazy how time just flies like that. Hopefully, I can drop another reply years later, complaining about how time passes and shit lol. This song still holds a special place in my heart tho,💯
It's been 7 years and this song still hits me like a truck. Being a Bill players, it was really fucked what they did in both the comics and the campaign Now and then I still come back and it's always amazing, props to Valve for being who they are, god damn.
That was song for Bill when he died. And I just saw Bill when I was play left 4 dead 2. In campaign level the passing Bill just died in the last level. Poor Bill:'( . R.I.P Bill.
The REALLY SAD thing is, that Coach, Ellis, Nick, Rochelle, Zoey, Francis and Louis will die. The L4D2 survivors maybe died getting shot by the CEDA because they are carriers. The original survivors maybe died because of starvation at the bridge or being eaten by the zombies because of an unexpected attack on the island. We never know, but what we do know Is that All the L4D survivors are not gods. They will die....
That is a possibility, if a depressing and a vain possibility. We don't have anything to confirm that any of that actually happened. I personally hope that none of that will happen. If so, then Bill's sacrifice would be for nothing. Who would want that depressing ending?
Rest In Peace old man... You may have been left some folks behind but your doing it for the young one survivors to survive, may you be remember... Bill
Man the best fucking song i remember when i had 5 years i was playing left 4 dead 2 then i grow up and i noticed about steam and when i started i just bought left 4 dead 2. When i hear that song i remember those old times
