@@theodorvalentinghita1779 In the L4D1 comics is explained that every infected are just sick normal people (sometimes heavily mutated) they can think and they're still their old selves inside, just very delusional and filled with rage to the point in which they just ""ignore"" the pain (even if they're still going on they do scream in pain). They see everyone who ISN'T infected as horrible creatures, that's why they attack you, they see you as their enemy and due to the rabies-like sickness the green flu is, instead of being scared sh*tless of the survivors they want to kill them. TL;DR: Basically they're all normal human beings trapped inside furious meat suits, their only desire is to kill survivors and sometimes even each other, incapable of any kind of reasonable thinking.

Not Komi-san which is unfortunate. The original game really set the tone with its music and audio design, showing a hopeless landscape where the survivors have really been “left for dead”.

@@totalguardian1436 running at the player specifically, only in l4d2 does one infected actually try running FROM the player, and it's the fallen survivor.

They're like really sick people that cant sleep, they can only lean on a wall for 3 seconds or so then keep mindlessly walking...Just aim for the head please

Essentially, the infected in left 4 dead are basically trapped within their own bodies due to the green flu, passengers within that can feel, see, and hear EVERYTHING. But they cannot control their own bodies and see un-infected individuals as monsters or demonic beasts, thus causing them to attack instead of just running away (though an exception to this would be the Fallen Survivor Uncommon Infected from The Passing, as it runs away if it is shot at).

Tbf the green flu is a very unrealistic and "overpowered" virus. You just can't really win against that when most of your personnel are susceptible, it transmits like nobody's business, and the transformation into a zombie can be as short as a few hours.

When an infected man broke into their house, her mother was bitten and turned, and her father scratched She and her father didn’t know the details of what the virus’ nature was, and their biological immunity She shot her dad at his request, because they thought that he was about to turn Her dad was immune just like her. She only finds out after they’re quarantined and analyzed at the military outpost they arrive at

You can see in many menu scenes in l4d2 that zombies are holding onto their heads and stomachs because of pain that they are experiencing in those areas and they cant do anything about it.

Just straight to the bloody, mindless, murderous drive. Shambling around until some one shows up for them to converge on. Only some examples played with the idea that the victims remain conscious and present, but in control. Dying light had such an example, where the “fresh” infected will briefly beg for mercy if you stagger them before they resume their rage. But L4D nails home the idea that they’re not monsters, they’re victims. You can see them visibly sick and unwell. Sitting, leaning against walls, holding their head and covering their eyes in agony. Vomiting on the streets, and so on. The green flu is no “perfect weapon of evolution”, it’s a disease. Nothing sinister behind it. No conspiracy, no delusional corporations or insane bio science . It just showed up, and began tearing through the populace.

This game is just like the zombies in dawn of the dead, except that the movie transmits the virus through bites. L4d spreads quickly through the air or touch. It is more terrifying than dawn of the dead, but I still think that traditional man-eating zombies are more Scary anyway running zombies are the scariest
