Getting a lot of comments from you guys being concerned this could of been someone’s pet who got loose. Firstly, the person who caught this rabbit put “found rabbit” flyers around the town and waited a week to hear from someone incase they lost their pet. Unfortunately, no one contacted him. Secondly, my town is in a CRISIS with dumped rabbits so 99% of the time, it is a dumped rabbit situation. I appreciate your guys concern that someone could be missing their pet, but please know, I am sure to do my research and will look into local “lost animal” Facebook groups to confirm this was not someones pet rabbit. This is 100% another dumped case and there will be many more I will have to take on in the future. It’s such an unfortunate situation my town is currently facing, but I am trying my best to tackle it and solve this issue.
We need to petition to mirror Frances pet laws regarding abandoned pets. They require microchips for ALL ANIMALS!! So all dump cases are fined and legally dealt with, and pet owners are almost always returned their loved ones without worry due to this system. Because of this one law regarding microchipping pets, there are ZERO STRAY ANIMALS OF ANY SORT IN FRANCE
This is a federal government issue, too many stray pitbulls and large dangerous animals not to mention the harmless neglected animals abandoned. Shame on America, this need to happen nation wide and not state by state
Ive been looking for a bunny with this exact temperament and i live nearby! Definitely applying to adopt this sweet baby Update: we adopted him!! Renamed to Jackson :) we love him so much
He is not itching himself he is claiming his space they have scent things under his chin I learned that from my vet but yea lol thank you for all the work u do it is truly amazing an appreciated
He is exceptionally beautiful and such a gentle sweet boy. I’d adopt him in a heartbeat. I do not understand people. How can you NOT love such a sweetheart?
He might not have had water in a bowl he might have had a water bottle with his previous owner so take his romaine lettuce in his veggies soak them in water some cold water and then give them to him also I know you don't want to but you might want to add a water bottle maybe that's what he's used to so he has a bowl of water and a bottle of water thank you for asking him he's gorgeous I think another bunny I think the name for him would be cuddles
@@kipsbat yes I know they shouldn't use water bottles but I was just throwing out after cuz he won't drink out of the bowl put the bowl of water in a water bottle in there so he can have his choice his previous owner that dumped him might have just had him on a water bottle I got six bunnies all drink out of water bowls I know how it is in some of them are Foster fails they were on bottles when I got them I put a bottle in a bowl of water in their playpens for them so eventually they chose the water bowl then I got rid of all the water bottles
He wasn’t itching himself on the hideout, he is claiming it as his own. If other rabbits (that he isn’t bonded with, ofc) have used it, this will further the territorial-ness. But yeah, not itching, but more saying “you’re mine” and rubbing his smell on things. Very cute
So happy you rescued him... 🥰💖😊 You're doing a great job!! It's funny, I just discovered your channel recently and while it's clear you love all animals and your passion has been centered around piggies... I can already tell you've completely fallen in love with bunnies!!! 🐰💖 That's what happens.. they'll completely take over your heart!! Enjoy the bunny love!! And much love to you 💞😊
@@youreinvalid8493 hence why I said I wished he could. For someone who has so many animals,a business, and regularly rescues animals, it's just too much to ask :(
I had 2 rabbits , Lavern , and Shirley, they had a whole room for their home, but they were very mean, I tried hard to tame them, but they just weren’t having it! Now they live in a huge outdoor pen with tunnels and everything else!!
He was happy with you and he must have been sad and confused leaving his comfortable little home, but I guess that’s the difficult part of rescuing. We can’t keep them all.
Awe, Ryder is adorable and I hope has a forever home waiting soon! If there is an owner, that owner would contact rescues, shelters and animal control, looking for their lost rabbits. Unfortunately, people do desperate things under desperate situations and for no reason at all. It takes advocacy to awareness to getting these poor dumped bunnies and also piggies off the streets and other places that they are found. We know of Austin, because he puts it out there. Thank you Austin and hope others see this in your area and join you so there are less out and being dumped!
If the fence you are using to enclose him can stretch across the room, I would use that so he could ave a bit more space because bunnies really do need a lot more room than that to run around! He does look happy and he clearly feels safe because he's imprinting with his scent glands under his chin, but it's always best for bunnies to have more room for zoomies because they do get zoomies just like dogs! But you are doing great and he is ADORABLE! He seems like such a good, peaceful, loving bunny!!
Unfortunately, I had limited room cause he was in my pig room. Plus, I didn’t want him too close to my pigs to avoid cross contamination. He’s now at the rescue receiving everything he needs!
@@ThePigRoom I understand! And that's great! I'm so glad that he is no longer running around alone outside! I'm sorry to hear that it's be a crisis around you and I do hope the breeders causing this to happen get caught and charged because this is so cruel for so many domestic bunnies to just be left out in the wild to fend for themselves! This one was so calm though..I do believe a family dumped him. If it's the family's doing this, breeders should be checking who they sell them to WAY HARDER and making sure it's a good fit and that they understand the responsibility. So many people get pets who shouldn't, and they continually abandon those pets whenever it doesn't suit them...and when people are like that I truly can't understand it. It blows my mind!
He reminds me ov my own personal bunny she was in such similar of a case and she hey are the same breed I’m so sad that Milo and Vinny can’t have a trio with him that would be so cool to see
While I agree with most comments of it may be someones pet... at one point sure it was. But if there's one thing I've learned over the years with guinea pigs and rabbits... is that any time a domestic rabbit or piggy is found outdoors, it's likely due to an abandoned case. But certainly always do your do diligence in seeing if you can locate the previous owner to find out why and such. Because if it's something as simple as they are struggling to feed the pet, and whatnot maybe you can help out somehow. The same always goes for cats, dogs any domesticated animal that is found outdoors.
I saved my neighbors meat rabbit that escaped, and she said “do you want us to take care of it”? ( kill it), and I said “I kind of like it”, so, now I have a rabbit. He is such a sweet rabbit, I can’t believe they would eat such a sweet rabbit. I named him Mr. Bunny. He’s a Rex breed.
I work as a vet tech in a municipal shelter. While I’m not animal control I do know our officers can only enforce within lawful boundaries. Definitely let animal control know what’s going on, but they can’t stop breeders usually. In my area breeders can get hobby kennel licenses and keep too many animals within the law. This needs to go to local legislators to change laws to protect bunnies. In my city we have outlawed the sale of rabbits in pet stores, just like dogs and cats. Thanks for your work and care. Slowly but surely we are protecting these amazing small animals.
You could name him Harry Dubin after the guy that "loves" the RHONY ladies. He is super friendly and a lover...lol! Or Rocky after Rocky Balboa since he's got 2 black eyes!
found a rabbit on the road in my neighborhood, it ran right up to me and was the sweetest guy ever, I took him in and fed him for a few days and then took him to the human society to see if he’s microchipped/find his owner if lost. no chip. probably dumped really sad, he was an absolute angel and seemed so loved. so sad I dont have the extra money to keep him but I hope he has a good life😢
I think there’s a backyard rabbit thing going on here and possibly near you. (I’m in the Hamptons, NY.) A lot of people are starting to raise chickens and other stuff for meat since food, especially meat, is getting expensive, so I wouldn’t be surprised if people are either breeding for meat or for money to BUY food at the store.
I've seen 2 different lost rabbits in my neighborhood in just the last month. I've called animal control many times, but I don't know they just suck at their job, or don't care, because I still see them. I have no means of rescuing them myself... Only reasoned I noticed them is because I walk my dog daily, and he noticed the poor bunny on our walk.
Hi Austin! I love your vids❤️ I was just wondering if you would be willing to make another RU-vid channel? Maybe called the bun room? Thanks and tell you piggies I said hi!!
I have to warn you, this is how it starts. You start bringing them in from off the street, sometimes right next door to your house, and then you end up with 9 bunnies. I rescued a doe and she had 7 babies less than 12 hours later, plus the first rabbit we rescued off our street from 2 months before that. Mama Bunny and 2 of her daughters still live with me. Thanks for helping this lil dude out.
Are you located in NJ? I rescued a rabbit. From my brother who got it at a 4h fair. Somewhere near Englishtown, nj. Now a few things. I went to a 4h fair and my vets. Spoke to both the woman at the 4h thinks it may have been a breeder who came there that sold the rabbit. Vet also surprised to see the type of breed as well. Similar eyeliner marking on a white rabbit so it’s either a mix or a big hotoe blanc hotoe. He is an 8 lb male. Vet and 4h all thought how unusual he was the rarely see his breed. So if you’re in that area maybe part of this same breeding group? Our rabbit is 5 years old now was adopted three years ago at the 4h fair. But yea that rabbit looks somewhat similar white rabbit black eyeliner marking. So just watch maybe they do their business at a local 4h fair if you can figure out who is selling and dumping them.
He won’t be listed/available for adoption until he is vaccinated and neutered. You can reach out to Kind Heart Rescue for more information on when he will be ready ❤
Somewhere in my city there was a rabbit problem where someone dumped some bunnies they bred, then continued breeding and it just was never ending, snd because there was so many rabbits i heard they killed them all😢
