I think that neuroscientist's story was a perfect example of why your "ego" (left brain) is not your enemy. It was because of her left hemisphere urging her to get help that she survived. The right hemisphere didn't care whether she lived or died because of the big picture perspective. Without the ego we couldn't function in this world. This is just fascinating stuff. Love how you compiled all this btw. It really drives the point home.

The pathology of western culture can be described as the virtually exclusive over identification with persona or false self, it's concerns with self and material status, all at the expense of emotional and psychological development. Ego death seems like the ultimate act of the ego. For the ultimate motive of an individual in his pursuit of 'ego death' is to attain abilities that will make him 'greater' which is essentially an ego filled desire.

Yeah kinda. The boy dies for the girl, but she must help him be born again. The death can't be permanent or else she is alone. It feels like going from predominantly one side to jumping to the other. This like flicking a switch. I am trying to make it more of a dimmer. So that we can share as one. Both act to preserve the self our or my life. The self being the idealized self loving or actualized whole. I think equating survival instinct to the ego alone isn't how I feel it. We both want to live. Tell you an interesting tidbit: while I lift and do exercise, I've found that I can count reps in my head by visualizing the numbers rather than counting them aloud in my mind, which then frees my mind to have entirely different simultaneous thoughts at the same time, so I can effectively focus on two tasks at once. I started using this technique at work, visualizing the tasks I had to do as actions rather than thinking about the words of what I had to do. When I did that, it subconsciously transferred the responsibility of maintaining that task to the portion of my brain that is responsible for images, rather than words. Boom! Instantly no more forgetfulness. When I do that, I never forget to do stuff. It's actually amazing.

It's interesting that when the right-brain hemisphere was asked "which gender are you?" it responded with the opposite gender. Even if the person laughed after that, I think that is no coincidence. Jung believed that the key to your unconscious was in the anima/animus. Everyone has an anima/animus. If they are a male, they have an idealized projection of their dream woman, called anima, which is also the opposite gender -- female. If they are female, they have animus, a man in the unconscious. Do you think it had something to do with that? Any opinions?

My experience is a bit murky since it was closely followed by an abandonment trauma, but in the wake of that experience, I would say my brain chemistry changed to where I had more advanced language centers which proved useful as a writer. I was writing at the time of the trip just before I let go. I had very vivid controlled dreams for about a year afterward and still get them on occasion, and to this day I can read in my dreams. Plus my ability to write anything from poetry to entire novels has become next level. The experience itself I’m still trying to understand and unfortunately the people who were there with me that night slapped their own contextual interpretation onto MY experience before I could even make sense of what happened and that was very confusing and damaging. From what I can remember of the actual ego death trip, I was locked in my friend’s bedroom, but I felt like I was this immortal avatar and something was shuffling me around a cosmic chessboard and I was the queen getting moved in any and all directions across space time. One second I was in one location in time and space and with each location came a different persona, then a few minutes later I would be in a different time space location with a different persona. I would almost describe it as becoming hyper-aware of the greater human ego, but my own ego was gone and it took roughly 8 hours before I found “myself” again. My theory as to why my language centers in particular were impacted so much is because 1) I already had an affinity for language, and 2) during the deepest parts of the experience, I lost 99% of my vocabulary. I could mimic words or say certain words that were familiar, but I didn’t know what the words meant. I think my brain was hyper focused on language after that.

Alright, story time, Your videos of late have helped me greatly of understanding the bigger picture of myself. I had a psychosis 4 years ago. And I've noticed many things. First my psychoses were like an emotional breakdown. After that there was a sense of possession, something was in me that was not me and taking control. This caused me to have a panic attack which increased the impact of the psychoses and I started to feel that my breathing could not meet the desires of my body. A sense of suffocation struck. Fortunately my whole life resolved in understanding psychology en neurology with a philosophic eye. And before that day I was quite balanced, capable of peaceful communication between the two hemispheres. I trained in meditation and could balance myself. To lower the chatter and feel more connected and meaningful. So while having this panic attack I decided to lower my heart rate by meditating. After this act I gained my sense of self again, however it got attacked again by this presence. And so this cycled a couple of times. After the whole event I became mildly schizophrenic and was traumatized. Although I did not hear things. I could see sparks and they had a conscious side to them and I could sense energy presences around me. I became strictly Christian after all this for a while. However, there came a time when I started to ask questions they could not answer, for they as you say follow the book to strictly for that. I went my own way and developed a more pantheistic view to life, where I saw my self as energy, and because of E=mc² I know that mass is energy. So if I was energy, and I was conscious then perhaps the world is conscious because the world is energy. And I'm part of this world. Like a child of truth. These concept not only where applicable outside of me, but also within the psyche. This better helped me to understand who I'm. But this did not solve my trauma I received after being possessed by an entity in my brain. And till this day I always feel this presence. Because of your last two video's I now understand that because of my psychoses I'm repressing my right side of me. This thing, that became demonic, was workable with the correct balancing of mind and so it became a guiding force for me to uncover inner and outer truths. To give y'all a metaphor, balancing is like creating a harmonious symphony where every part plays a role in the whole, but also needs to make sense and rhythmically sound. I now start to feel more like my old self again before the psychoses. Currently, I'm doing balancing practices to learn to re communicate in a peaceful manner with this presence and so far the findings are great. I even achieved ego death again, and with this video I could put it better in to context. Currently, I'm practicing to speak the truth to myself, and I've noticed if I'm patient and wait till my right brain formulates an abstract readable energy, I could better speak with the ego for my real reasons of my behavior. This pactice forces the ego to give up on his own sense of self and authority in favor for a more refined sense of knowledge. This knowledge is not coming from itself in focus or separation but from the whole.

Fascinating! I'm sorry to hear, but of course these things are a secret blessing! Have you spent much time actually IN your body, as in FEELING your SENSE BASED experience That is often the most grounded place to "interact" with this stuff!
@extreem573
@extreem573 4 года назад
@@uberboyo Thanks for replying. And Boyo alert! Edit: What works for me may not be the best solution to who ever reads this. use your own discernment. :) At the beginning there where two major obstacles. One was the lost of a sensible world. After my psychoses and possession, I lost my left brain control. Like a full glass shattered in to a million pieces. I had to recollect my memories, sense of self, story, lessons and understanding. To give you an idea, most of the things that I had to relearn was wisdom and critical thinking orientated. For example I had to relearn how to socialize, having gotten back my social anxiety from the past. Or needed to learn how to right coherent sentences again, because most grammar understanding was lost. The second problem was that of being attacked by rampant thoughts that spiral out of control. Although these thoughts had some resemblance to truth, the panic was incorrect behavior. And many of these thoughts spirals where often based upon a highly evolved suspicion. Not deductive reason. So they had a tendency to also be majorly wrong or overblown. Meditation in this sense was mostly focusing on as you said sense based reality. And I may add inner understanding of the nature of self. This was a form of vipassana. I already knew I was not the I. But the lesson was lost. So even though I know theoretically. I could not stop identifying. This makes every thought believable as truth and plainly felt even if they were incorrect. Therefore, every thought that came to me completely took me out of this sense based experience. And I suffered emotionally under erroneous conclusions. I developed a nature to reason with the unreasoning. This made me more left brained again. I had a tendency to repress thoughts in favor for focus. I could not contain this state for long. There were reasons for this. For example, fear that my mind would go emotionally out of control again. Correct meditation aught to be effortless and peaceful. My meditation was not. And so work had to be done. My methodology was very similar as that of yours. You face your fears. This makes you stop fearing fear. But also make you understand why you fear. It makes the world more certain. For example my psychoses have not stripped me away from theory, but understanding of that theory. I may know I’m not the ego, but I do not understand that anymore. So I had to go out in the world again and relearn the theory I once knew. To give you a different perspective, it is one thing to regurgitate a sentence out of a book and another of understanding what you are regurgitating. One is remembering, the other is wisdom. I had to imbue my knowledge with meaning again if that makes sense. And the only way in doing this is by experience, where the emotions are felt. Besides that, I heavily focused upon authenticity. Authenticity is understood via a logical approach towards thoughts. Where you deduce towards one conclusion. And so this becomes truthful understanding about self. Example, if I where to be an atheist, my act of morality and sticking to principals would have spoken more volume. The atheist would not have believed in god or heaven and still chosen to stick to principals. Leaving only his authentic self as conclusion. If I where to be a Christian by book then it's harder for me to be sure if I'm really moral, I may be doing it to reach heaven. My experience is that it is for the atheist easier to be authentic but harder to stay moral. For the believer it is easier to be moral but harder to be authentic. Another example, don't mistake my kindness for weakness. Many people use there kindness to excuse confrontation. And still claim virtues that they are kind. They are not kind, for they cannot do harm so there kindness means nothing. They are just Soyo's. ;) To conclude, I eventually became imbalance in the left brain. I started to become more nihilistic and did not really feel the vibrancy of life anymore. So I had to let go of the I I'm identifying with. Let's not make it to mystical. You are awareness, aware of I. You are by law always one with truth. This is how I approach the ego. These sentences may confuse. But we are dealing with a paradox of thought here. With your help I lately felt no longer the desire to need to think. And so I felt effortless peace. There where no words and every thought was balanced and effortlessly integrated. First there was sadness, there was no desire to fix. No reason to be identified. Then I understood that I regained all freedom by letting go on having to need to run this ego script. This infinite loop of insanity, finally after 4 years have come to an end again. This does not mean the I or ego is wrong. This ego script has rebuilt me towards my desire. That what was lost is regained. I have to say that the I is therefore regaining it's former power back. However, this is not a problem. Things happen to me, so this needs to be integrated. It has become a way of life, and I'm nowhere near perfect. Nor do I have to be. But it does make balancing and integrating much more easier now.

Have you heard of Julian Jane's book about the "bicameral mind" ? -- the idea that in Classical times we were experiencing our thoughts as outside of ourselves, attributed to the gods.... On a different note, I went through an extremely traumatic event 5 months ago and have become extra-aware of what is in conflict internally, in a very precise way that lines up with this right/left brain description. My inner and the outer worlds have come closer, I experience many synchronicities, and generally feels so much like a psychedelic trip. Luckily I have skills experience, resilience, and help in other dimensions, and also very grounded. I can imagine very easily how a traumatic event could split a person into a schizophrenic/pychosis state. I watched this happen to someone very close to me.

However I’ve seen multiple times at academic conferences that attract a lot of Jungian psychologists and like minded people something concerning. Whereas with your videos you take Jung and his works seriously, yet you remain completely open to modern scientific research, such as neurology, and are open to any valid evidence that might improve our understanding of the psyche. Cultivating ambidexterity is a good way to stimulate the right hemisphere. Improving both fine and gross motor movement skills with both hands increases the size of the “bridge” in between the hemispheres called the corpus callosum, therefore increasing the speed at which both hemispheres communicate with each other. Look into Ambidexterity and whole brain functioning if you’re interested.
@ciucinciu
@ciucinciu 3 года назад
if ambidexterity stimulates that in a good way then i am really curious what does playing an instrument like a piano or guitar where you have to have very fine cordonation between right and left, or drums where you have to use all of your limbs. probably this is why many musicians felt that they leveled up as persons and that;s why playing music is an almost religious experience
@richie543ify
@richie543ify 3 года назад
ciucinciu that’s one reason why I want to learn to play piano, but It’s not easy learning on your own at an older age compared to being instructed during a young age.
@richie543ify
@richie543ify 3 года назад
ciucinciu although I haven’t strengthened my corpus callosum to the degree of a professional musician, I still notice that I have greater communication between my brain hemispheres than before beginning my Ambidexterity training. I practice writing with both hands, I teach my hands the same skills, I workout, and I practice playing the video game Rockband4 both left handed and right handed on guitar. Using the Rockband guitar controller somewhat emulates finger coordination and independence. It teaches the parts of the brain that control your fingers to “think”.

Your comment is a lie in at least two senses. I’ll let everyone read the article for themselves, but as a foreword it’s not very inspiring. Some respects to the professor obviously, but the theory is beyond a stretch. Ngl I’m kinda salty with OC for drawing excitement up for what essentially is a stoner thought from an overly ambitious professor at a third rate school. If I sound like an ass it’s because I wasted a lot of time figuring this out when it would’ve been a lot simpler for someone else to just sight their source and I’m tired of seeing people be mislead and misinformed on the Internet. The article is fluff that won’t lead to anything and has already been buried. You boyos need to respect yourselves more and do your own research, please. futurism.com/physicist-entire-universe-neural-network In better news, they’re making traction in relation to dark matter. scitechdaily.com/extremely-powerful-cosmic-dark-matter-detector-probed-by-astrophysicist/

It's true that many people are explaining the same thing from different conceptual frameworks. The Bicameral Mind theory is just the horizontal explanation of the vertical conscious/unconscious model. And this also plays into the idea of the Anima/Animus. Androgynous images of a half male half female God/Goddess also symbolize this experience. I think that it's not about one side being better than the other. It's more along the lines of Jung's Individuation. Bringing the two sides into dialog, integration, and union.

Meditation is the shit yo. I had a strange experience a few months after I started. For the first time in my life I had a deeply satisfying sensation that I was finally being listened to and that my thoughts became "smooth and nutritious". Weird shit. I can actively remember my dreams now. I never could remember them more than 5 minutes after waking. They've done autopsies on people who were expert meditators and found that the brain matter along the right/left divide chasm is measurably denser (the 2 sides are listening to each other more closely, more sensitive to what the other is saying). The infinite and the infinitesimal are less easily lost to one another. Conscious experience bends to include more of the right brain's functions. The ego is free to explore the left brain and now has begun to explore the other side of the river. It finds many interesting beings and landscapes but must venture back to the left regularly in order to feel safe for there is too much newness; it's the world's greatest party over there but the party never stops. The ego needs to sleep. The right brain never sleeps until death.

Fascinating content boyo. I have aspirations of becoming a psychiatrist one day, a healer and mentor for those who don't understand themselves,so this is such a valuable insight into the duality of the human mind for me to ponder on. It makes so much sense to me, but I never considered the athena/aries analogy, even though I am fascinated by greek mythology, and psychology. The general/soldier dynamic,and the female neurologists experience were unknown to me. I've had a taste of this... this dissolution of the ego...I'm not sure if it is the same phenomena but it was induced by a series of powerful synchronicities throughout my day at work... I felt like I was non physical, like I was dreaming, that all matter was illusionary and my reality was slipping away, but my left brain was still conscious enough to interpret the sensation as something being wrong with my brain. I had a near panic attack and just so happened to put on a video about soran kirkergaard explaining "existential anxiety" and fearing ones potential, which felt like another synchronicity in itself, but it calmed me down a little. It felt like what that lady was talking about but no where near to that extent ,but almost dipping my toes in the water of infinite awareness. It was extremely uncomfortable but I learned so much from that experience. Luckily my girlfriend calmed me down and I was fine, had a god damn near psychological breakdown though. I have also experienced similar sensations on powerful mushroom trips ive had throughout my life. Thanks for the amazing content bro, gonna go run outside naked now :D

It's so interesting to see modern neuroscience, and modern New Age philosophy, slowly crawl its way, like an infant's, back to the most ancient truths that people have known for tens of thousands of years, but we're only recently, relatively speaking, forgotten by the modern, rational over civilized man. We have to think of it in terms of the left and right brain, but it is merely the Primal polarity of the universe. The masculine and the feminine. The structure, and the substance. The essence and the energy. The Divine father and the Divine mother. Man is not one or the other, but both and also something more.

Very interesting video. I love your channel, bro. Have you ever experienced derealization/depersonalization? Are you familiar with it? It reminds me strongly of what this woman is talking about. I have to wonder if the destruction of our ego is what allows us to experience reality in the most direct way. It amazes me how much our ego can get in the way of our ability to see life for what it really is. It also interests me that derealization/depersonalization is usually a response to trauma, and how it’s possible (and seems quite likely) that experiencing emotional trauma makes us deeper, more insightful people in many (but not all) cases. Life is suffering, as Jordan Peterson tells us, and the book of Job seems to confirm this. Keep up the great work!

Massively appreciate this video. I watched the video with the neuro-scientist who had a stroke years ago. I often show it to my more prickly-minded (left brain) friends to explain “the self” that I bang on about in more scientific terms. It’s amazing how this area of science is just showing what has been explained in Buddhism, Taoism, Vedanta, and many more for millennia. Nietzsche said that god is dead and he didn’t mean that was a good thing, maybe soon we will awaken to our divinity, maybe another Nietzsche type will come back along and proclaim “god has returned”. We certainly could do with more people who recognise the oneness and divinity within us, behind the illusion of separateness. Very much enjoy your channel, much love.
