My friend's little brother had birth defects so he was in a hospital a lot until he was about 7. He got massive attention from adults and was told how wonderful he was just because he was having an atypical childhood. By the time he was 14 his family had to go cold turkey on giving in to his tantrums. One day he was upset with his brother, put his hands on his own neck to choke himself. His brother just looked at him and laughed. Christians looked at life, thought what would be good for children, and built a marital structure and laws to provide an ideal habitat for the family. Secular life is fine telling young women to sleep with whomever whenever, and just abort the clump of cells that will inconvenience you. Christianity taught that actions have consequences. Secularism teaches that consequences require action. Christians believe that we are all victims of circumstance, and the goal is to improve our behavior and thus improve our situation. Secularism teaches that you are a victim of your ancestors, and you need to weaponize that victimhood to achieve anything. Christianity teaches that the answer is to love one another and do good. Secularism teaches that the answer is to fight for your group like wolves marking their territory, and to let each group rise and fall as new victims come forth to fight for their time in power. You remove the religious culture of self reflection, meditation, and living a moral centered life? You also remove the infrastructure needed to keep people from devolving into selfish, narcissistic beings who will eat their own if it means they will get ahead. Don't get me wrong, Christianity is filled with all sorts of wrongdoings... but it allows it's practitioners to critique them. Lol, even the LDS/ Mormons have it as a basic expectation in their membership questions that you study the Bible/ scriptures and pray and form your own testimony on what is true, and then ALWAYS criticize what you encounter with the "by their fruits ye shall know them" logic... including their own leadership and organization! "Search, Ponder and Pray", "Choose the Right", "Endure to the End"... that's a homegrown American version of Christianity that built a civilisation and thrived in the desert despite rapes and torture and being driven out of their own settlements in the USA, 1800s. America only works with a population that is critical, not self absorbed, aware, and willing to try new things in search of a better life.
