It goes even deeper than the difference between meats... cottage pie is done with beef mince, with the potatoes being scalloped (sliced) to represent the tiles of the roof of a cottage (hence cottage pie). The shepherd's pie is done with lamb mince and mashed potatoes to represent the wool of the sheep/lamb.
Made this today and it was really, really good. I used a couple substitutions that worked just fine, and the pan clean-up was easy. Saved to favorites for the next time.
Thank you Brian for keeping the videos up through the winter. Best Weber ambassador out there. Keep safe through the “nor’easter” and hope to see more videos soon.
Thanks for watching. Yes, big snow storm coming today. Picking up some short ribs to braise tomorrow during the snow storm for my next video. Should be an interesting weekend to say the least. Cheers!
You made that look so easy. I always thought that Shepherds Pie or wonderful looking variants like this were beyond my skills. We always have leftover chicken and this recipe adds to our arsenal of stretching leftovers into something different. Thanks for sharing.
Ok,I want to do this with some beef, can you say left over Texas smoked style brisket ( yet another use for brisket, yes! ) Anyways, mushroom gray,Campbell's, didn't know about that from them. Definitely need to get my hands on some of that. So before I go,I noticed that great looking cast iron skillet 🍳. Definitely not lodge but very nice. What is the manufacturer? Anyway have a great day. ⛅
Campbell's also has an au jus in the same type can that's really tasty and would go great with brisket. My large cast iron pan from a brand called Artisan. I picked it up about 5 years ago from Bed, Bath and Beyond for $25. They discontinued selling it there. I've used it literally hundreds of times as it's my favorite pan, but unfortunately the coating is starting to peel off. I'm a bit concerned that I'm slowly injesting whatever coating they put on the thing, so considering investing in a new cast iron pan.
@@GallaghersGrub great looking pan but what do you mean " coating "? Cast iron should only be a treatment of oil seasoning. And thank you about the Campbell Au jus.just. I'm beginning to wonder what else Campbell's has that I don't think is being sold out west. During the nearly 14 years I was doing long haul trucking I was always amazed at so many things are sold only by re
Herbs de Provence is not my style but I’d use other seasoning I like more than that. Side note: salted butter is not salted for taste at all. Never. As they fold the butter they salt it to get the water to separate and make the butter creamier and unlike ice cream. It’s not a flavor. It a drier butter.
Gosh, I enjoyed that! Thank you. Been away for a while...is that a newly refurb'd kitchen or new digs? Certainly suitable for the fun/pleasing dishes you prepare. And THANK YOU for our Thanksgiving dinner! BBQ'd two Cornish Game Hens per your guidance and they turned out great. Did it in the Arizona mountains with great scenery to spice up the meal.
Yes, we moved into this new apartment back in June 2020. I'll be shooting here until we can open our cottage in Connecticut back up once things thaw out a bit. Great to hear about Thanksgiving dinner. I LOVE Corning Game Hens. Cheers Jack!
