Ok crtital guys @phillinthesouth, this is not a load... for many like me that sail a lot it is very intersting, and besides the sailing we get to see some local scenery, if you do not like it , do not watch! and Jake, don't like the sponsorships, you put up the money for a team!! there are other great sailing area although Aucklad is one of the best, behind San Francisco ;-).
Well said. I imagine it's like golf---if you don't play it or otherwise "get it," then you aren't likely to enjoy watching and studying it (and I hate it!). Or like air racing--if you're a pilot, you appreciate what's going on so much more intensely...but even laypeople can enjoy it. Anyhow...I love it. Safe seas, all!
The Statue is not a Buddah it is Guanyin, see wikipedia. It is at a Buddist temple, but not him...just call it Genny ;-) if you cannot pronounce Guanyin.
It was better when they had two massive southern ocean legs Cape Town to Sydney (But Auckland would be a better stop). Then Sydney or Auckland (Which ever one you prefer) to Brazil.
A lot of the audio is captured on the small RIB's that chase around the VO65 whilst they sail around the course so the wind rushing by the microphones, that's what causes the muffling
