I really wish they would show her at full power. She should be the strongest being that's ever been on these shows but she's nowhere near some of the witches.

That's because Alaric is jealous of Klaus being a better father than him and has been obsessed with replacing him as her father figure since he first saw her in the originals. I could be wrong but that's how I interpreted it.

The spell is still stronger when they add their voice to another witches even if their magic is not their own. Temperley but still just as strong as another witch. I feel like hope needs Alaric because she needs some sort of guidance with her powers. Like it or not she has klaus’s darkness (even though he did somewhat change) and I feel that without Alaric hope will end up as ruthless as klaus was in tvd. And y’all saw how powerful Freya was as a teen, she said that she had fits that burned whole villages. So I think Alaric is trying to lead hope down the right path.

@@billnyethescienceguy4168 Forewarning, this gets long. I apologize but I'm thankful if anyone reads through it all lol. yeah she, just like Freya, is a first born Mikaelson witch. And throw in the aggression from the now active werewolf gene, and likely down the line the heightened emotions of being a vampire, and Hope will overshadow even her own father and uncle's (Kol) ruthlessness and temper if she isn't guided on a good path. Since she was born various witches, including her own grandmother were out to kill her, then her father and most of her family were put in a magical coma for 7 years because they were dying, she only had her mother, then probably the darkest power to date has taken her as a host at the age of freaking 8. Which then lead to having to split that darkness up and divide it between her family yet again, which also meant she couldn't even be in the same city as them before it started to harm her. Then she inadvertently caused her mother's death, forcibly took on that darkness again which lead to her dad having to steal it back from her which also lead to Klaus deciding to kill himself in order to save his daughter. Then the total of 3 mikaelsons remaining bounced to live happily ever after finally, leaving Hope without ANY family whatsoever. Alaric is literally her only parent figure in her life atm and Rick knows that, that's why he's treating her as a daughter. Sure he is there and is protective over every student at the school, but he outright treats Hope like she's his own daughter. It's only a sidenote that he knows that without guidance she has t he potential to be worse than Klaus and Kol were in their darkest years. But I mean Rick was always caring. He can also see that this is literally an orphaned 16 year old girl, without any stable family to rely on. Outside of that all 4 of them are at fault tbh. Hope is confirmed as having been withdrawn from EVERYONE because she's scared that they will end up dead just like everyone else she cared about. So she definitely wasn't exactly friendly with the twins in the past couple years at the very least. The twins claim that they have tried over and over again and all of their pokes are retaliation to Hope's poking buuut when Landon and Rafael got to the school, Lizzie poked Hope first. So I am calling the typical "It's not our fault dad, she started it" mentality on them viewing themselves as innocent victims. They are visibly jealous and somewhat righteously so. But it's evident that they don't wanna share their dad with Hope, despite that not even having to be an issue. Rick IS there for them a lot. The moment he got back from killing a FUCKING DRAGON, he saw and knew that the girls caused trouble but he didn't say anything. He went and hugged them. Like yes, the girls weren't being told the truth but tbh the way Josie freaked out when Rick jumped in front of the gargoyle, what do you think how would they react if he told them that he fought a dragon? Parents lie to protect their kids all the time. It's a part of being a parent sometimes. Sure don't lie about crucial information but when I was a teen I sure as fuck would've had a mental breakdown if I learned that my dad was nearly killed by a dragon. They are jealous of Hope. But there is no reason to be nasty. Hope has no reason to be nasty either. And Rick does need to realize that his daughters are very insecure and are scared to lose him, whether to the supernatural threats or to Hope and needs to reassure them. Also sidenote: where is Caroline? If anything the twins should be angry at her? She wasn't at the game, wasn't even mentioned at all yet, not by Alaric and not by the twins, yet while their dad was basically saving the world, they get angry and saying he's abandoning them and prefer Hope over them, the girl that could low key be their sister, but Caroline not being there at all is not a problem? I know that TECHNICALLY she isn't their mom, but at the same time she is. She raised them (and birthed them too but genetically they aren't Caroline's) but she raised them since they took their first breaths. If anything at this point she is more their mother than Jo ever was (considering ya know. She didn't even live to birth the girls) (also I'm not saying that Jo has nothing to do with the kids. She does. Her and Rick being in love is the reason they were gonna be born, the gemini coven is responsible for saving them, but it was Caroline that was a mother to them all their life. Jo's memory needs to be respected and embraced because if Kai hadn't happened, she would've raised them. She is their mother. But so is Caroline. Just not by blood. But family isn't always blood.)

Tatenda Ngandu their death on TVD was in the future after living full human lives. Elena and Damon are technically alive and living in mystic falls at the same time as this show is taking place. We saw the front of Elena’s medical practice downtown in an episode of The Originals when Hope was there with Elijah. Unfortunately none of the actors wanted to sign on for this show so we’ll never get to see them.

Montel K. Njemanze I do not believe that Lizzie and Josie are useless since they are the only witches that can siphon magic and break barrier spells and such things by just touching them. For example they were the only ones that could have siphoned the hallow out of Klaus. And yes, she had to siphon Hope but she helped because she helped as a way to channel her magic. Using too much magic on your own could have potentially worn down hope, but with Josie channeling, they were able to defeat the gargoyle without hope having to put too much stress on her own body. Also Josie could have been siphoning energy from Hope’s werewolf/ Vampire side allowing them to channel Witch, Vampire and Werewolf energy in order to defeat the Gargoyle.

Yeah, I know the feeling but I guess I decided to give this a chance with lower expectation. I'm not that interested with the monster of the week plot. I much prefer the old style villain origins story. It's better when you can also relate to the villains and understand their motives, feelings or reasons.

@@mgtl100 I totally agree. I think the monster a week idea is very lame. I roll my eyes every time I see a preview for the next week's show because I want them to STOP with the monsters idea. This show does not have the TVD or TO feel at all. Maybe that was Julie Plec's idea all along...but I don't like it. I'm watching it for Alaric & Hope & the possibility of seeing other characters (like Jeremy). I have been a long time fan of The Vampire Diaries...despite some of the poor writing in seasons 5,7,8...I hung in until the end...same with The Originals. I wish Legacies would get back to vamps, witches, & werewolves...& possibly recast some of the main characters..it could be a good show...but for now I'm not feeling it😞😥

Anyway I enjoyed both shows because of great storyline. To be honest, I'm still waiting for more male characters that has Salvatore or Mikaelson charm like similarities.

well the truth is that some spells require two or more witches no matter how strong someone is... yet this is a way for the show to have Hope working with other people to create relationships. Hope could break freya's and hollow's spells when she was 7 i am pretty sure she could just wave her hand and break him to dust if she wanted

i have a theory.hope does most of her bigger/dangerous spells with josie because josie has very good control over magic.being a siphoner she has to not use a lot of magic in short amount of times.hope obviously has huge magic reserves due to her lineage so it might be harder to know the amount of magic being extorted so having a siphoner there to “weaken” those reserves would give her better control

She is adding power to the table. Power from Hope's werewolf side and Hope's blood. Hope cant siphon the magic from her werewolf side but josie can as she did with rafael. So she is adding the magic from Hope's other sides.

Scene earlier where Josies sister siphoned from pedro and was able to cast a barrier spell. The siphoners can still.use magic just need to draw from a power source first which I think is a cool limitations to their power.

I believe she was was not just Siphoning hope but also channeling her. Josie had just taken down the barrier spell meaning she had power stored in her from that.

Yes josie is a silhoner but its not like Hope has a small amount of power. When a witcj casts spells alone the magic can overwhelm her(nosebleeds,bleeding ears, eyes, struggling and maybe even passing out). If josie siphons from Hope Hope still loses the same amount of power but she is not overwhelmed. Besides imagine if the gargoyle had hurt Hope, who would stop it? Or if it tried to attack josie, shouldnt she be able to protect herself? Or if there was a second gargoyle in different places inside the school... etc.

well the only thing i can think of is that some spells require more than one witch not in terms of power nut of control. For example the jemini's coven most powerful spells require at least two witvhes as we saw in s7 when that heretic was trying to put stefan back into his body her name was valeri i think. Also in s3 bonnie needed her mother to free esther. Some spells are just difficult to be cast or controlled by one witch. Yet hope could do it all by herself. An other explanation could be that jossie is drawing from hope's werewolf and inactive vampire side which also makes sense
