I don't think he hates it because it's too weak, he probably thinks it's too good or not fun to play against.

@@Heliosa20 Yeah, Ashiok is one of the cards which best abuses the limited format. 40 cards is a lot less than 60. As such with a little protection it can make your opponent feel hopeless, which is never fun (plus cube is slower and less synergy based compared to constructed, which Ashiok loves). It's similar to Bribery or signets, cards which are great but make cube less enjoyable overall.

Getting the PolyK is most definitely the right play for a dozen reasons - I think he just forgot about it since he boarded it in.

I agree, there should be a permanent legacy and or rotating vintage cube!! But then how would I get anything done in real life? I suppose I should thank WOTC for not putting a permanent cube up.

The deck was good enough already and it's a nonbo with the inmortal sun. Also you kinda want to go bigger than cc5 in green, having half steps in your curve is not that crucial as it is in another decks.

in a non constructed format with 40 card decks ashiok is kind of cancer - she's insanely powerful all by herself and with little protection she can make you feel pretty useless as an opponent, he's said in the past how good she is so I assume here he wants her gone to make the cube more enjoyable for players

Not sure if he actually mentioned doing it in the video but he definitely had it in mind and opted to sacrifice the Solemn on purpose. Drawing more good stuff so you get the good stuff.

Show and Tell is generally not worth the risk in cube. Way too often, you put in a Hornet Queen and they put in an Emrakul or a Sundering Titan or an Inferno Titan or whatever and ruin your day.

@@flooey Valid point. I also just watched another recent video where he said he doesnt like S&T as well. I guess I hold too much nostalgia for the card.
