I went to the games in the late 70's and our group referred to ourselves as the Bleacher Creatures looooong before Bondy was given credit for coining the phrase.
@POKERPRONJWSOP He died on May 8, 1996, and was given a tribute by the Yankees front office before the May 14 game against the Seattle Mariners, a game in which Dwight Gooden pitched a no-hitter. There was a plaque where he sat, in section 39, row A, seat 29 which read "This seat is taken. In memory of Ali Ramirez, 'The Original Bleacher Creature'".
@POKERPRONJWSOP The seat with a plaque dedicated to Ali Ramirez in old Yankee Stadium: Section 39, row A, seat 29 The founding of the Bleacher Creatures is often credited to Ali Ramirez. Ramirez rang a cowbell to inspire the fans to cheer (much like Freddy Sez's efforts in the Stadium's main grandstand) during the team's limited success in the early 1980s and 1990s.
This video brings back memories and thankfully I can now show my son the cowbell, "yankees baseball, ___ suck," chant(1:07s). Couldn't find even a snippet of it anywhere else. Thanks for the memories
BALD VINNY! Keep up the good work and keep those right field bleachers something opposing fans fear to set foot on into the new Stadium. Yankee baseball = best in the MLB I BLEED PINSTRIPES
6/21/2008 Yankees vs Reds....I sat in the right field bleachers in the house that Ruth built. Then in 2009 Red Sox vs Yankees, right field bleachers in the house that Jeter built.
There's nothing more that i hate when im watching baseball, than seeing buisness men in suits and ties talk about buisness right behind home plate at a ball park, biggest pet peeve ever. Those seats should belong to fans like Bald Vinny and true die hards, not CEO's who don't give a shit about whose winning or not.
@JHAM3232 i agree with you alot of bandwagon fans would jump off. I know i wont i've been a yankee fan since i was born so im gonna stick with them forever. Also i just think there arent alot of things to do in Chicago thats why people go to cubs games alot
@ZzSmacKyzZ Pretty sure the Yankees were atleast .500 from 2001-2009. I think they even made the playoffs some of those years. I'd like to see how much hardcore support the fans would give after years of being in last place like the cubs.
Jockstrap (thats what im going to call you) u really gonna attack my grammar? great, i missed a letter. again, u have no idea where vinny goes. of all people in the bleachers, ur calling HIM out on not being a real fan. really?
all u haters are the same... if we insult u, u cry. if we dont, u cry. get life. and it happens to be none of ur business why vinny leaves in the 5th inning some games. what a loser, nice handle athletic supporter. talk about moron.
@POKERPRONJWSOP ur a real idiot. u make the statement, u provide the proof. it sounds to me like ur just upset that ur not part of the creatures. im done with u. go spread ur lies somewhere else.
