The Mormon Trail was not exclusive to Mormons. It was a well traveled passage to the West and crisscrossed with the California and Oregon Trails. People not of the faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints celebrate the trail along with the descendants of the pioneers.
