Thank you for watching! I have been very interested in your videos as well it's neat to see the different areas and techniques. Warm weather is just about to the north east corner of USA 🇺🇸 and that is where I do my summer gold mining I have lots planned for the area ! Also I have a few Westcoast usa California and Nevada trips in the works before the winter mining out west starts I hope you enjoy all the work ! Cheers ☕
Leave a comment with any other questions, I had another 4 mins of footage but I was forced to cut it out of the final edit due to a issue with my equipment and storage of videos I'm going to do my best to address this to continue this summers adventures. Thank you and If you have not noticed I unlocked the membership option to the channel 😀 check it out if not ! Adam & petey
Good stuff buddy 👍 you will benefit from this too for sure. I'm going to try and fix my camera and network so when I do the video I can download all the info for you all.
Legal gold Dredging..? The job of looking for gold with simple machine tools..!! Great.. I hope you get maximum results, friend.. success always.. I like this gold Dredging.. greetings from your best friend. traditional Indonesia ❤️🇲🇨⚒️⛏️💎🌸❤️✋👍👍👍
Unfortunately dredging is illegal in most the USA states I mine gold in with ⛽ gas power. I live in the northeast of USA out I have 3 states I can use it legally Massachusetts Maine New Hampshire, but Vermont is my favorite and gas and even a sluice is not allowed so sometimes you have to pirate prospect. California is where I go out west most and gas power Is illegal also so this method can be used there also to wash hillside. I'm headed out this Saturday for some gold , there is still a small bit of snow and it will be cold and raining but I'll try my best to get this set up and running ! Thank you for the support I'm happy we are communicating! Really neat !
I'm looking at doing 50 feet of 6", then reduce to 50 feet of 4", then reduce to 50 feet of 3", then reduce to 40 feet of 1.5", straight into a 3" inch suction nozzle (nozzle with the 1.5" inch intake)... then 10 feet of 3" from suction nozzle to highbanker.. Hopefully the length and reducing will make up for the lack in sudden "drop".. The creek drops, but the drop is gradual. I'll also have a 3" ball valve a couple feet upstream, right before the reducer down to 1.5"..
I've been wanting to do it for so long lol I'm very happy I did ...... lots of things will change and more gold coast to coast now that I understand the concept and can see the force produced. Lots of things even outside mining that could be applied
I use a threaded joiner with ball valve attached, once hose is full of water, unscrew joiner and place unrestricted hose in sluice, hold in place with bungee/ elastic or rubber straps.
That's a good idea , but basically the same as a water gate and I do not have to take off anything. To be honest I don't even really need the gate I could simply kink the hose briefly then drop it into the box
Bro....... friggn blew my mind how much pressure it created and with just 6 feet of drop you could get a 4" running strong the norcal feeders are perfect for it so I'd imagine up by you too. If I can get one running in a small creek in the northeast lol they will work.
I'll have it out next weekend, lol nope FS can't do much especially if your not running a box . Even the no sluice states you could still transfer gravel off bedrock to a bin
I just use a screw plug on the end of the pipe and take it off when it’s ready. I lost one down the river once so now I have it tethered to the box lol.
That's bad ass dude. I never knew it would work. I've talked about it a few times. But every1 shot me down every time lol. You could also get a plug at ace hard ware they got rubber plugs with a washer n nut on top side ya just slide her it give it a couple twists n u good ta go. Lol but don't stand in front of it taking it off. It my take you out.😆👍🍻✌
@@GramCanyonSam I'd say it's because of the down pressure. My old man was a plumber and when we/he did the ground works we had to test b4 concrete came & that's what we did we'd stand a 10' piece of 3" or 4 pipe straight up and cap the other end and filled with water. And when you'd tap that cap with a hammer it shoot off and shatter. My old man always swore he seen a guy damn near die from it. Lol. I could definitely see yours taking you off your feet. 👍🍻✌
Yes I have my 4" dredge lines to use, I started off 2" only to make sure my efforts are worth while once the material starts moving I'm giving this set up to a buddy and moving a 4" next to it.
Looks like nonmotorized recreational mining activity to me. Tips for beginners. Keep your pipe joints sealed airtight. Two words ...Gorilla tape. Keep your pipe free from clog causing dips and bends. If the old school wooden sliuice box isn't working try a Keene A52 sluice with the addition of the Keene supersluice insert and Keene dredge riffles Looking forward to seeing how your system works. I've settled into using a homemade quick connect set up to to get the front end hose sucking after the pipe has been primed. Still looking to improve on the Tigerflex hose I've been using. This summer I will be doing further R&D with 3" and 4" pipe. Another tip, if you are quick connecting hose to pipe, submerge the pipe at least 3 inches under the surface of the water. Final tip ...Rule number one of gold mining is you've got to mine where the gold is. I have literally moved tons of material while learning the hard way that I was breaking that rule. Petey says "Let's go gravity sluicing." Pete is too smart to tip the Sierra Club off to what he is up to. Let`s all delete the "D" word from our vocabulary when discussing this nonmotorized recreational mining activity. Otherwise the Sierra Club may use its stranglehold on the California Legislture to close the loophole in the law that bans motorized suction dredging but explicitly allows nonmotorized recreational mining activity. LBPA rules the Motherlode!
Great stuff Tim! Try out a Watergate this year too I read the godfather of gravity book the tips are priceless 👌 few other great pointers too I wish I could have loaded the full video I made ! Hope to see you sooner than later miss ya
@@mattc6226 that's a great idea for a small one but screen clogs pretty quick too just like a reducer on a Dredge nozzle. Either way it slow is the pace needed I think to run it.
it can be a bigger screen or even just a large screw through center of nozzle. I'm just suggesting so you don't get a clog in hose from big rocks. that would take time out of your day.
Way to roll adam! Great video of gravity feed sluicebox with the Watergate and the gravity feed hose could be used for many other purposes washing bedrock everything. Hope you're doing well, and I hope your wife and family are pleased with you sir! Don't forget about that man your big daddy Adam. Hope to see you at Tim's dig in California in July I will be there!
Thanks Jan I'm excited to use it I've wanted to for years and finally found a spot with good gold and drop! Family is wonderful and the property is coming along beautifully, big daddy has some stuff bothering me with my health so I've been very stressed out with work / home and even gold mining. I'm in desperate need of some downtime to catch my thoughts.
An issue is water drop in a water coarse and distance if it does work your water gate will be a problem for clogs at your upstream connection to your rigid pipe that is taped
Absolutely I'm bringing another 4 feet of runner incase my water pressure is to high , that's why I made the backwards flair after the race , in the race it will push then fan out then go back into regular sluice flow hopefully that slows it down just enough
Nice video brother, uncle Tim could definitely use some pointers! Haha, I remember setting up his first one at Petey’s place last year. I like the gate idea… A ball valve would be perfect but youd lose diameter creating more clogs… Maybe we could put a swedge or something in for a 6” valve
Very true the ball and gate valves don't work , I read the godfather of gravitys book this is the tried and true method of creating the venturi works first time everytime
I think i might have a hard time closing that flex hose completely (I’m old lol) do you think a ball valve would work for a water gate? Very cool idea can’t wait to see it work. I also had issues with storage on my phone so I spent the .99 cents a month for iCloud storage and fixed the problem. Thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻
I agree, it likely will require alot of unnecessary effort/ force needed to be applied to "crimp" reinforced hose section utilizing a hinged 2x4, however your ingenuity is commendable.
I just paid for a TB and nothing changed I actually lost some other options....... As for the Watergate it doesn't actually have to close completely if the hose has a small gap it will still work , I thought of the slide gates and ball valves but the problem is they have either gold traps or they pinch down to smaller dimensions in the middle of valve which would cause clogs
@@cascadebearguide gate valves have a gap that is created once its lifted up , you open fkow material comes you fill that void you can't close it and then you have material stuck in the void, Ball valves would work if you can find one that stays 2 " 3" 4" in the center of valve most belly down to a half inch less which will cause a jam of material
@@James-mf3pm how hard is it to crimp a garden hose with no water in it?? Not very hard . I can bend this pipe in half completely it will take very little effort with leverage of the hinge to close the latch. I've been researching this sort of dredge for 3 years lol 😆 I've read countless pdf and watched every single video made. There are old timers that used these every single day in the 70s and 80s I took this method from the godfather of gravity dredges ...... pretty sure it is the best option
I have seen them 4 inch and 2 inch they are a straight flow through probably so they don't have a log jam. I will have to look when I build one forsure.
Good video bro.. Ive actually made and used one of those and it worked fantastic. Actually had to much flow but that was easy to fix. Cheap, easy, and fun to use
Going to be sweet brother because the tree-hugging hippies down to the Environmental Quality office definitely won't do us no justice and having any fun I like this idea I think that here and Idaho gold dredging is going to be shut down soon I have a 3-inch Keene dredge and I have my permits to dredge this year they wouldn't let me do any other good Rivers but they did approve me for one but not much gold in the area they approve me for but I have found some so I'm going to give it my all
I believe a gate valve would replace your clamp set up. Please make another video of this in action or a more in depth video. I understand the principle but not enough where if I had a problem how to fix and improve on the design
Typically they taper down inside and they also have small crevices etc both those things will cause more interruption during mining one will potentially cause jams and one will get stuck
Trying to decide what I want for matting on mine. I have lots of water drop on my claim. My sluice is 18"× 5'. I was gonna use a gate valve I was thinking to prime my 4" line. Any opinion on matting ??
I'd go aggressive moss and very aggressive riffles personally, as for the gate valves you will have clog issues the diameter is smaller inside the valve.
Good info Adam. Thanks for explaining the 1,2,3ft drop for pressure. I've been interested about doing this for some time and going to set up mine this year. I have 50ft of 2" pipe and hope that's long enough. What type hose are you going to use on the suction end? Thanks Adam. 🇺🇲🗽😎⛏️👍LBPA Bro.
Hey geno ! So the head height which is height from hole to box needs to be atleast 3 feet to get any movement and thought a smaller tube , more pitch or more flow will change the ratios but I'd say 50 feet is the minimum for line then the hose length may vary too. I'm going to use my lines from my 4" dredge. Best of luck 👍
@@GramCanyonSam thanks for the reply. I'm sure I will need more pipe. Most the claim is somewhat flat but have 4 or 5 spots that should work pretty good.
Cool invention Adam! I'm wondering if the brake you put in will kink the hose and collapse it under suction. Maybe plugging the sluice end and filling it with a bucket would keep your hose more ridged. Sorry for putting my 2 cents in but I've dealt with collapsing hoses🍻
You won't have an easy time priming clogging the end up and it takes 2 people most the time trying it. The gate option has been used for many years , ball valves and slide gates have issues . It's rigid flex hose if anything it's harder to pinch then collapse it's only going to be pinched for a few seconds then released once it has water in it , I'd assume it would be virtually impossible to kink
Hell yeah, definitely interesting. I was under the impression that it took more drop to create good suction but I haven’t had much experience or research done on it. I wonder what the minimum length of pipe has to be ? Or is there a minimum ?
Hey bud , you generally need atleast a few feet of drop of generate the power to create the suction, smaller pipe less drop needed and less pipe required. I wish I could upload the rest of the video I explained it much better
I've moved loads of gravel with as little as two feet of drop and ten feet of pipe. Twenty feet of four inch pipe and two feet of drop will generate enough suction to feel like it could tear your hand off
Right on brother gravity driven sweet no gas suck on that Biden 👍😆 lol dude I can't wait to see you out and about with this thing time to act like a Molly maid and clean that Creek lol 👍😂😆😆🇺🇸✌️
Surprisingly you don't need much to get it running if you had a steep drop say 6' you could move material with 20 feet of hose even. It's all about the drop more drop more power less needed.
@@thehorde9798 I've theorized that a few times it should work but I think flat rocks 🪨 mite still be an issue. But to be honest just bending the flex line created enough back pressure 💪 . I'm Taking my 4" Keene out this weekend but I'll be back to gravity this fall very hard once the waters back up
Ball valves and slide gates don't work for several reasons Ball valve would work if you can find a valve that stays 2,3,4 inches inside .... they don't make them so what happens is you will 100% get jammed at the valve. Slide gates are full dimensions inside but create a groove along 3 sides when it's up so all the material will get caught in the cracks and probably create a jam and definitely a gold trap
They also make a plug that expands in plumbing that can be removed if you put it towards the end that might be a viable option as well it's a rubber plug with a wing nut washer on the end you tighten the wing nut it expands in the hole then when the pipe is full you can remove the plug and should flow the only problem there is you may lose the plug from time to time it's only like $10 for the plug maybe put a chain or rope on the end of it kind of works like a plug for a tub but using pressure from the washer and bolt squeezing on the rubber to hold it in place
@@toddrodgers5108 I pondered it for a while maybe flaring out and adding a bigger size valve but I think it would be an issue during priming. It mite work though
