seriously, people comparing Bundy and Sheridan as Elle's and who's better, they are two different people! They have given Broadway and West end the privilege of Legally Blonde the musical with amazing and talented girls playing Elle Woods. I went to see it tonight with Susan playing Elle, i cant compare her to Sheridan because she is not her so i dont expect to see Sheridans interpretation in Susan's performance. Rant over :) *snaps*
with the massive hit this musical has been, i think it may get transfered to a bigger theatre, according to the stage magazine, Legally Blonde the Musical is finishing in May, however, it does not state whether for good or just at the Savoy Theatre. Hopefully for a bigger theatre, becuase this show has so much more potential with extra stage space. I'm not critisizing i love it!!! seen it four times!!! Please dont let it be the end in May :(
@illegallynotblonde they most likely removed jetblue because it's an american airline that does not fly over the atlantic...here in the US everyone loves jetblue for their satellite tv and all their cute little designs on their planes, so it was funny when they used it in the musical in the US....but over in London no one knows what JEtblue is because the airlined doesn't fly to Europe.
I really don't see what differences could be made if it was at a bigger theatre? All I can see is yes they could have had the broadway-style set i.e bigger which would have cost more money, increased their weekly costs and meant more seats they would have to sell to make the weekly costs! And in this climate who would want to risk that?? I think its perfect the Savoy! They've worked really hard to fit it in and done a spectular job!! Great work by everyone!!
@kevisaurus sheridan smith isn't trained as a musical theatre star and she has an amazing voice but she is not a talented dancer so they may have simplified the dancing to suit her strengths, that is what they do for actresses. the lyrics were changed for a different audience so that it would still have the same humour etc
i went to see this last month and was dissapointed when i saw that sheridan wasn't performing that night, but i thought amy lennox did a fantastic job,i absolutely loved it.just booked to see it again in august.
I remember watching the New Elle series from the US, and I remember when the 2 finalist had to remember or the choreography as well, as learning to wait for the lift system in the middle of the stage to close before walking over it, hence the first two scenes, and in this scene, a lot of marking
I really hope that they move to a bigger theatre! - The smallness makes it a little...Idk, less wow like broadway. It must still be blooming good though!
@AdamEfimoff she can dance don't get me wrong but in my opinion laura bell bundy is a better dancer than sheridan and i think that is why they adjusted it. sheridan has never been to drama school or anything like that but she is a comedy genius so in my opinion they tailored it to that. she is a musical star but she's not a trained one, shes a natural born musical star she has just never been trained which is what i originally wrote.
I totally take back my last comment! (that was according to the Stage Magazine, it may of been with ticket sales ect. However, Caroline has now announced that Legally Blonde has been extended till February 2011!!!!!
i love sheridan. of course nothing can beat the original but you have to bear in mind that she has to try and keep up an american accent for a whole show. i know i couldnt do it
@themonkeybananaking & wickedlyblonde They don't stay on stage for the whole show certainly not Act 2 and they must be taken off at some point during Act 1 because they are certainly off come 'Harvard'! At WOS outing I know Ducan said the wings are so small that most set pieces are kept in the air! As the golf cart comes offstage theres 4 guys ready to pick it up and put it straight in the air! LOVE IT - bet the backstage staff work hard!!
I think everything about the show in london is better than on broadway! like the stage is smaller but fits the show better than a GIANT set. I love this cast, think its better than on broadway so for me this is the ultimate show! Ive always loved legally blonde and seeing it with this cast in london was SUCH a joy! i cant wait to see it again in June!
@smartiejess I agree, Laura does appear to be a better dancer, but Sheridan also has back problems, so she does really really well. She is winning as Elle Woods. Susan is also good. I've seen Sheridan at the Savoy, and all were brilliant, need to see Susan now!! * Snaps*
I am actually a little disappointed. It's so simplified and not as intense as the American cast. Did they change the lyrics too? The dancing should have exhausted her but everything looked TOO EASY. :\ We need Laura Bell Bundy back.

@beckstabeck Laura Bell Bundy put everything she had into the role. Even if she was out of breath she was still fantastic. They've dumbed it down in London.
I love it!, it is way beter Than what I've seen from the West end!:D, and what the hell, Like if we've seen the whiole musical now, I think now there will come even more people to the show, so don't care who recorded this!, I think it's great tat a few things will be recorded, for the outsde england like me who can't come and wtch it, Now I have a little bit of fun! and I love Dunnk and Sheridan to! So shut up about them! They both are great and sing very good!
They didn't film this I did (and you can't stop me as I've seen it 12 times!) I sent them the footage because they are the biggest and best fansite around! All they do is support Legally Blonde The Musical and work hard doing it so if anything you should be praising them not banning them from the theatre!
I really really want to like it but...it justs seems so wrong, the way they sing seems odd and some punch lines are butchered...like Jaimakingme crazy and the whole harvard admissions dialogue....plus the tempo seems sooooo slow and lazy.
