Bobby and my dad were friends. He helped roof our house in Gridley. He was a very kind man and I loved “fighting” him in the backyard! I always won! Lol

Having been brought up with the sport, and competed in it at an amateur level, I love it and appreciate it. But as I say to my more educated and refined friends, I can’t justify it ethically. The head is not meant to be hit. But at the same time, nobody is forced to get into the ring. It’s really upsetting to watch this video and hard to not feel complicit. He was a true warrior. As they say, better to live one day as a lion than a 100 days as a sheep. RIP

I feel what you’re saying it’s hard to watch such a great Champions condition after he fought his heart out to entertain us and most of the time winning he was a great champion in my eyes

The best bit of the video is seeing him smiling and laughing with his family at the very beginning.

Yeah...well Chacon obviously took WAY too many punches then he had to. I watched so many of his fights. Every single one that was televised.....and there were many times where he was taking punches that he did not have to take. Now Mayweather is a great defensive boxer (hes not a fighter). That said, his events are mostly boring affairs in which the crowd is usually booing by the 5th-6th round....Now take a guy like Marvin Hagler.....now HE WAS A FIGHTER and a great one at that. Many of the fighters he fought were never quite the same afterwards. Meaning that their careers went 'south' after wards.....Was just watching an interview of Hagler recently...the guy is doing great....

Lmao, dementia didn’t cause this, massive repetitive head trauma did. Head shots = on set of Dementia

@@latinlover2325 This ignorant person has been replying with this same nonsense to several comments in this video. This is dementia pugilistica, not ordinary dementia. It happens to people who take a ton of trauma to the head. Stop pretending to know about things you don't know about. You look stupid.

This is not old man dementia. This is Dementia Pugilistica. Damaged brain cells from protein build up and neurofibrillary tangles. When my grandfather on my mother's adopted side got dementia, he was in the last 1 or 2 years of his life at least. That is only after he picked up smoking after his wife died at 77 years old. He died at 88 years old of age. He never slurred his speech either. This guy got punched in the head too many times earlier in life.

Yep, everyone is so quick to boo a defensive fighter, but when a fighter who gave them lots of great fights and entertaining weekends ends up ruined and with boxer's syndrome, they don't bat an eye. Those fans are the scum of the sport. No one listen to the dude in the comments saying "anyone can develop dementia". This is a dementia specific to people who have suffered brain trauma, as pointed out already it's called dementia pugilistica.

He fought fifteen times in 1972 alone! The streak continued into 1973. Look up his record. Any boxing style does this shit to you if you get hit, and hit and hit again, again, again. You don't know how or when to stop because of his Manger (Fans). And some of you so call boxing fans would make some dumb ass comments about a Boxer.

There are some things in life that are way off limits. Knowing that Bobby Chacon struggled to get a single word let alone a sentence out of his mouth, they still quizzed and filmed a brain damaged man who sacrificed so much for our entertainment. They weren't fit to clean Bobbys shoes, let alone be in the same room as him.
