Saw this film for the first time ever a few evenings ago with a dear friend of mine. Cannot believe I've gone this long before watching it, despite having heard about it for many years. This was hands down my favorite scene among the many other incredible ones. The way the piano "dances" in the room as the ship is cradled by the ocean ... all accompanied by the amazing music. Just magical. Tornatore came up with a masterpiece.

i really like waltzes and i found this really nice to listen to. i’m really sad this isn’t on spotify (there’s an orchestral version but it’s not rlly the same) because i was looking forward to putting it in my playlist since i’ve been struggling to find waltzes i liked in particular :( great piece. probably my favorite from this movie the visual of the spinning was nice too!

What is a best friend? Someone who can cure your nausea, who can take you smashing through the most expensive window to end up crushing in the bedroom of the most authoritative figure on that ship (the capitan)...and who doesn't abandon you when sent shoveling coals (as a punishment for the madness above - not shown in this video, though)...that's what a best friend is.
