Snowpeak Ruins is, to this day, my favorite Zelda dungeon of all time. I just love the idea of exploring an old abandoned mansion out in the middle of nowhere.
Funfact: Snowpeak Ruins is the only TP dungeon not showing a skull in the boss room on the map, as there wasn’t any boss when Link was exploring! Only when he and Yeta were in the room, the boss, Yeta herself, appeared
The scene after this boss battle made me feel so happy! It sucks that Yeta fell under the mirror's control...but in the end it only brought her and Yeto even closer!
Everyone keeps talking about the jumpscare (it got me too the first time) but throughout the entire fight, all I’m thinking is how huge that bedroom is lol
i was a teen glued to the TV in a dark room doing this dungeon when Yeta turned and screamed..this was probably the closest i’ve had to having a heart attack lol
Yeta is an innocent creature that was possessed by evil magic, I feel terrible for what I did to her, but it was necessary to stop evil without killing her.
Was it really a jump scare tho? I mean there was a good 6 second build up to where you knew something was gonna happen. Even before her head turned you knew it was coming.
dude what. I swear twilight princess fans are the weirdest. I come down thinking the fight and music was lame and top comment says hes “best boss in the game.” That really says something about this shit game then that was the lamest boss fight ever. It was like a parody
1:14 I think the timing is off on Yeta's animation here. I bet she was supposed to turn to her evil "face" when facing away from the camera, so when she turns, it's already evil. The head-spinning you see is even creepier, which is why I believe it was left in (Twilight Princess has some creepy moments, doesn't it?)
No, I’m pretty sure that was intended for a more effective effect. She turns around, but turns out, she has *another* head which scares the player. I mean, would you expect someone who’s really nice to have a second head? No, so that’s what inflicted the scare factor.
That's also the only place any hearts appear in that dungeon. Zelda Wiki states "With the exception of Blizzeta's room, there are no Hearts contained in the pots, and the enemies give no Hearts as well. Instead, the only means that Link can restore his health inside the ruins is by drinking the Soup Yeto prepares in the kitchen."
This is the only fight in the game where Link doesn't use his sword in any way, though it makes sense why. You can somewhat understand Link and Midna's strategy-'Break the ice, break the spell'.
I thought what was gonna happen was either something breaking into the room knocking her out, or the mirror turning her to sleep and then turning into a beast. So when she gave the nightmare face, not only was I surprised because of the face but also because I finally realized that I have to fight her.
yeah it was much easier than i thought itd be because i assumed at the start that after smashing the ice around her i was supposed to walk up and hit her with the sword but i guess that wouldnt make sense storywise because then she would actually be fatally injured
Boss review: Twilit ice mass, Blizzeta Location: Snowpeak Ruins Blizzeta is the fifth boss of Twilight Princess. It's unique as it doesn't take the form of a monster or evil being, rather an innocent creature possessed by the Mirror Shard. Design: Blizzeta is somewhat simple. She's actually just the yeti Yeta with a very freaky face and cryokinesis. Did I mention her face is very freaky? Fight: Inside the bedroom, Yeta brings Link to the Mirror Shard she owns. Upon looking at it though, she becomes possessed and starts filling the room with snow and ice. With her newfound powers, she becomes the creepy cold killer, Blizzeta. She's covered in a frigid shell like the Freezards. The Master Sword is useless against her so Link has to rely on a more heavy and powerful weapon, the Ball and Chain. Blizzeta slides around and Link has to smack her with the Ball and Chain. As her shell changes shape, she'll summon Mini Freezards to attack. The Ball and Chain makes quick work of them. With enough hits, Blizzeta has to change strategies. She'll create a giant shed like foundation and drop icicles on Link. After that, she'll try to box Link in and slam him. Break at least one icicle with the Ball and Chain, run to the gap and hit the possessed yeti. After every hit, she'll regenerate the destroyed icicles. Two more hits and she's done. She'll be freed from possession and revert back to her old Yeta self while rewarding you with a Heart Container and Mirror Shard. Conclusion: My reaction to Blizzeta was "WHAT THE...?!?!" She's undeniably the scariest boss in Twilight Princess solemnly because of the face change. Her fight is on ice which adds a fun challenge. Since using the Ball and Chain is a little tricky, it's a somewhat tricky boss. Still fun though. That face is still terrifying. Blizzeta, you get... *8/10*
This is one of those battles. That you know link is superior to yeta. But you also know, the devs did not want link to hurt a female. So he runs for his life, and uses a metal ball and chain to smash ice.
I love that in the first phase the ice mass looks like a matryoschka Info 👇 The Matryoschka is a curvy, wooden toy designed after a woman back then It was split in the half and inside would be a smaller woman and so on until it stopped
I have a Wii console, so I recently replayed it, but my friend has a switch, so I don't fully understand, but my friend does. I have a lot of memories of this because it was the first game I felt like I was actually part of. then again, it was released in 2006, so I don't think that is going to happen, sadly. : (
Man, i remember when I was first pleying TP, the jumpscare got me good, LOL. I let out the loudest "OH SH1T!!!" and messed up my throat for a few days. 🤣
I loved BoTW and ToTK, but Twilight Princess is definitely the darkest of the Zelda games, and this is one of the many scenes that proves it. Maybe Majora's Mask falls second.
Oh yeah, Majora’s Mask, the game about the death of three major figures and the reactions held by an entire region about their impending deaths at the hand of the moon, as you force them to constantly live through the same three days, desperately trying to find a way to end the cycle is definitely the second darkest Zelda game.
Awww.....this is quite a nice quaint bedroom. No boss fight needed. Just need to take that piece of glass away and.... 1:04 You ok ma'am?.... 1:17 I peed a little......
Not gonna lie, I stopped playing the game after this boss because when I first played it at 8 years old, the female Yeti face gave me some nightmares the couple next nights. Geez, it is so terrifying.
I love how she has no arms, but her Husband does 😂. I guess if they had given her arms, she’d have been able to do more damage after being possessed by that mirror shard. In that case, Link might have had to use the Master Sword to kill her, instead.
Third best boss in the game IMO; Blizzeta constantly harrassing you makes it challenging and full of fun. The first phase needs you to be on your toes or else Yeta will slide into you full speed ahead. Timing the Ball and Chain does need a little skill, it can fail and leave you open. Then. she can summon Mini Freezards that are harder to avoid than what they seem, and if they hit you, you might lose your timing. And phase two comes in, the only meaning to it being "run away". The enormous ice shards aren't too tricky to dodge, but the real challenge comes at breaking them to open yourself a way to escape an enormous iceberg coming your way which, I think it should have done 2 hearts of damage instead of one. And you gotta do this thrice. This is a challenging battle for the good reasons and is one of the few battles where you will feel threatened during it, pretty satisfying overall.
⚠️ Mei Ling: Snake, Watch out! This is Blizzeta. A once loving wife who lived with her husband deep in the mountains. Her gentle aura has been corrupted by the malicious mirror shard. She uses a variety of ice attacks at her disposal. If you get hit by one of her shards, its lights out for sure. Combat her ice-cold strategies with your ball and chain! Snake: You know what they say. Steel is super-effective against Ice. 🚬
I'm glad the male yeti didn't attack Link. He could have easily misunderstood that Link attacked his wife out of nowhere. And I wouldn't even blame him if he did.
