It's ZhenHuan telling the reader her story. The protagonist-narrator _can_ keep secrets from the reader and mislead them purposefully to keep the narrative tension until the secret is revealed. Basically, what ZhenHuan the narrator is doing is flexing on the reader about her "clever feats".
That's a fair point, and I do get how that is generally used in first person. Just to explain a bit more my issue with it in this book specifically: (1) the way things are phrased, it's not about what she's telling me, the reader, it's about what she's literally feeling. "I looked at him with a surprised expression" is different from something like "I felt shocked". This was part of your plan, you weren't actually feeling any surprise so what are we talking about? and (2) a lot of these things are never resolved, as if she got amnesia. Like this Qiong plot- we never find out what they talked about that night. It's ended as a mystery as if Zhenhuan herself doesn't even know what happened.
I know Zhen Huan got tough and harden but I’m glad to hear she still has compassion on the princes who compete with her son. Also the other concubines!
Back in record time 😎 Hey! Sorry to pull a twilight breaking dawn on you but this video was going to be too long so I had to split it. Mostly done with it now though so won't be much longer (fingers crossed!) Note 1: A lot of loud and dramatic voice acting in this one, my neighbors were not pleased lol Note 2: (8:26) I teared up reading this part, 1st prince is a sweet kid and this was the first time he EVER went against the empress. It was a really feel-good scene. Note 3: (18:52) THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE DRAMA! Such a perfect speech Note 4: (22:20) The book says "XuanLing's 5th daughter" but she's actually the 6th princess. I guess because Zhenhuan isn't counting her daughter with XuanQing. And finally- (25:40) HUANBIIIIIII GIRL I KNEW I DIDN'T LIKE YOU!!!!! That whole thing almost completely overshadowed the ChiShao reveal for me lol
I like that YiRen is decisive and it rubs off on First Prince. Notice she grabs that sceptre and *then* kneels. Further, I love that his dad is like “that girl made my son a man, I like her”
Even though this HuanBi is evil, I liked her more. Finally she has initiative instead of being jealous and only complaining like in the drama. This HB doesn’t complain but acts! You can tell she probably learned from ZhenHuan, although she doesn’t have ZH’s morals
"Finally she has initiative instead of being jealous and only complaining like in the drama." That's exactly it for me, like do or do not just don't sit on your butt all day crying about how you deserve better 😂
I wonder how the reveal that the Empress killed Chunyuan is going to play out since none of her servants were involved in the poisoning at the banquet.
God lord, Huanbi has some serious mental problems. For me that she's desperate for show Zhen Huan that she got the life she was planning with YuQing and will do whatever it takes to keep "that life". She is like a mix of Langhua, Yixiu and Erquing in one person.
You're so right. Langhua was hypocritical and pathetic, Yixiu was evil, and Erqing was just downright crazy. As for Huan Bi... she's just a fool😑 All that for men that didn't love them one tiny bit.
I am actually not surprised at Huanbi actions. Considering zhen huan was serving out abortion medicine. To be honest the only reason huanbi didn’t kill the child was because it would’ve implicated the both of them. Zhen huan was only distraught by her death because, she wants what is best for her lover. I don’t think she really cared for her, only that “she’s treats him right”.
Yeah, agree with you about HuanBi and Zhenhuan. It’s a cruel world :/ I'm surprised you think the abortion medicine thing ZhenHuan did was a bad action- I thought it was quite nice! She gave her the choice, and if she chose not to she didn't force her. Plus she gave her the strength to move on from her guard lover.
@@dramarecaps4217 zhen huan, powers come from everyone hate for the emperor. So I can see why she didn’t force the girl to drink the abortion meds. Because she knew, that she would obviously object. And she can become a subject. I believe Zhenhuan kept those children alive. To fuel ,infiltrate , and influence the imperial court. For 4th prince position. I’m not saying zhen huan isn’t kind, but it must be in her favor.
And Huanbi lol do I still love her? Yep! After all my harem watching experience I have to say Huanbi is still my girl especially the book version.. seeing XuanQing being drunk and mopey she wanted to at least be near him and care for him even though he would never love her. ZH should not have been surprised by Huanbi actions I mean really Huanbi was a maid she just oversees the work instead of doing it now and then the sick frail chick not only stays in bed all the time she gets credit for her work but then gets pregnant when XuanQing won’t even sleep with Huanbi? It’s one thing if he was still in love with ZH but Huanbi didn’t take advantage of him like that and still she loses? It doesn’t make it right in any way but I get it..
I love how much you love HuanBi lol I do actually prefer book HuanBi in the sense that her actions make sense. And that's a good point about feeling like she did everything she was supposed to, and then to still lose would just drive you crazy. it's like why am I playing fair when no one else is??
@@dramarecaps4217 lol exactly that’s my whole point with why I support Huanbi I’m 100% sure if the people in her i.e. her father and by extension mother had made decisions from the start that actually benefited her she wouldn’t be like this.. but no one really ever played fair with her or fought for her benefit so why not say screw the rules and look out for herself?
Wow, the comparison of the first prince from the book and show is like night and day, just rooting for this sweet boy all the way in the book ❤you go glen coco! The small side stories like hua's little sister and the extended huan bi's evil arch would have been cool to include in the show. i'd choose this build up over huan bi's rushed ending in the show v.v Thank you for spoiling us WAAA ❤❤❤ Reply
If i was Huanbi's shoes I'd lose my mind as much if not more. What she did was awful but I can't imagine living the life she has and not going insane from jealousy either. Not to the point of poisoning someone or just unaliving them straight up, but I can understand the thought process at least. *Not sure if my original comment was here.
Yeah! I do totally get it! I mean we've seen it play out a thousand times in the harem as well, like with the empress. How could anyone live like this and not go crazy?
I was having the worst and most hectic day, then came back home to see that you uploaded right after yesterday’s vid on Book 6. Thank you SO much!! Now I can relax while watching your quality content 😆
Aww I love to hear that! I have a few youtubers I feel the same way about (Like yes, time to put this on and de-stress) I'm gald I can be that for someone else :)
Sounds like XuanQing kinda open his heart for JingXuan, but not for Huanbi because she looks like Zhen Huan but clearly not ZhenHuan. He isn't like his brother.
I feel kinda bad for Huanbi. Jealousy, hate and love are intense emotions that drive people to do the craziest things. Y'all don't judge me but I was so in love with someone that when I felt he betrayed me, I *destroyed* his shit in front of everyone, cried for like 2 hours and came back out to the band field with a cheeky little smile looking like the crazy bitch that I am
Love the honesty lmao, would not want to be stuck in a harem with you though 😂 But yeah, no I do get it. JingXian got literally everything she wanted right from under her nose. And I bet in the moment (when she stole the nail to poison her) it was I have this opportunity staring me right in the face to get everything I've ever wanted so...
@@katytyrell406 I would be bitter too. Imagine waiting years and when you finally get married, your husband still wants nothing to do with you. I don't agree with her methods, but I understand.
@@lakaperse6995 exactly! It’s just like another cdrama I saw the guy was in the army gone for years and he couldn’t even hug the girl when she was crying saying how happy she was he was safe.. it’s the little things like that can cause ppl to grow so embittered over time.
@@berrys9173 Ngl but I'm honestly surprised that Huanbi didn't manipulate him into doing so. Like she could use drugs, alcohol, or pressure from his mother/Zhen, etc. We already know she's into scheming and dngaf about morals.
