12:56 Not gonna lie I laughed at this scene🤣 the emperor overreact(as always) like some old man in his 90s and zhen huan is like oh no not this crap again 😂 25:06 this last line really hits hard zhen huan intered the palace meizhuang and lingrong and now by lingrong death she realized she's the only one left 😢 I think at some point through the years of complicated and messy relationship zhen huan did see her as friend
I'm surprised the Empress is tolerating Hu to this extent😂 It's not like she cares about familial relationships I wonder if she'd ever get back at her lol
@@Stinoco might be true but she caused Hu's infertility too she does consider her a threat. Plus given Hu is a cousin to both the Empress and the Emperor she has a greater chance of replacing her than Hua Fei I thought Hu would be gone soon after her introduction
@@bassantisamess4279 let’s remember that the Empress plays the long game. And she must think that if she got rid of Hua, Hu is just a junior. Right now, her only threat is Zhen Huan. However, if she can make Zhen Huan and Hu be rivals, the Empress has to only look at the fight while the Empress position is stable
@@Stinoco True. Her patience is admirable 😂 as I remember Hu got introduced when Zhen Huan was at the nunnery Hua Fei was already eliminated also Hu wasn't chosen in a palace selection it's weird the Empress allowed her to give birth to a baby so smoothly, the only advantage to the Empress is Hu's arrogance if Zhen Huan didn't make a comeback from the nunnery Hu would be the first target to shoot
@@bassantisamess4279 I still think the Empress doesn’t consider Hu a serious threat. Remember, Hua was in charge of the harem while Hu doesn’t have powers. Even if she’s a Furen, the Emperor hasn’t given her managerial powers. I guess that’s why the Empress just made Hu infertile and hasn’t killed her, unlike the other concubine that was killed for “poisoning” the Emperor. Zhen Huan is more in Hua’s position as she’s now the one who manages the harem. I really want to see what the Empress move will be: either let Hu and Zhen Huan have a cat fight or if she’ll personally get rid of both. With Qi and Lingrong dead, the Empress has 0 allies. The Empress Dowager also doesn’t seem to be her ally in the novel. I really wish we had more favored consorts in the novel 😄
The drama did the Dowager and Huanbi so dirty they made them both so one dimensional.. the drama was 76 episodes they couldn’t have Huanbi at least slap one person 😒 or have the dowager take out someone that was actually guilty? And at least light a candle or shed a tiny tear for Mei esp since in the books she had a prince ? 🤷♀️. Soo after losing so much does Dr Wen just disappear like he does in the drama
Oh I looove your recap videos!! I’ve been watching the series since I was eleven so it’s so so cool that you’re recapping the books. Keep up the great work!
Woah, since you were 11! You've practically grown up with Zhenhuan then haha. Glad you like these, I've also loved getting to understand the original story better ❤
6:45am, I start work at 7 and I am absolutely going to start watching this. I'm so happy to see that you're back! Thank you so much for these, I love them so much. 💙😍
Not going to lie I am a little disappointed with jia yi? Plot it’s the most realistic and kudos for her being so mature and owning up to it but ….oooh I wonder what was said between bro and ling rong…so book 6 is the most exciting…so much happen
Honestly, same here! I feel like the novels have been a tad weak when it comes to the "final showdown" portion. But I think what the author is going for is to show there are no supervillians, people are just people. They make mistakes, they regret their actions, etc. It's not as exciting as I'd like (for entertainment) but like you said, it's more realistic
24:29 in the drama, Zhen Huan meeting with Lingrong was essential as she gave the final hint that was needed to pin the empress killing the first empress. How will Zhen Huan learn of it now?
So what are your thoughts on Huanbi books? she seems more proactive and smarter and her actions are more justified. I want to know your opinion since you don't really like Drama Huanbi haha
I honestly do like her better lol. She's not as whiny, she is much more actively team Zhenhuan, and the reveal that she made XuanQing drop the paper cutout on purpose was pretty impressive. Like she's chasing what she wants, she's not hurting anyone. Book 7 she goes back on my shitlist though lol back to whining all the damn time (about JingXian) 😂
12:13 ok am I the only one that thinks this was a fake out plot to setup ZH? The empress doesn’t openly threaten people she’s subtle and lets others do her dirty work for her.. I mean deliberately and openly threatening Huo to the point where the emperor and everyone else is at her palace and while ZH is occupied and off her game trying to figure out what’s going on with Huo Qi quietly comes out of left field saying ZH is an adulterer? Hmm 😒
Well-thought-out as always! I think you're right. Like the book points out, because of the drama literally everyone showed up. In other words, no way to keep this accusation quiet and even if Zhenhuan is absolved, you know how the rumor mill is...
then is the embroidery the Vermillion Bird of the South (sometimes mistaken as a _fenghuang_ ; Suzaku in Japanese)??? also shocked that besides "Hwang Jin-yi" you also used "Yong Pal"
I did book 1 and the last book, but as for the middle I recapped them at the end of all the RuYi drama vids so I didn't really think it was worth going back and recapping the same thing🤷♂️
I think they did fall for each other but it was wrong time zh brother moved on but lingrong with everything happened in her life she took it differently
So why are the courtesans dressed in Korean clothes? Were they in Korea? From Korea? Seems weird to be the only women wearing hanbok in a show based in China 🤨
Ahhh ok so that Korean show (Hwangjini) is all about courtesans and so I've just been using it for clips since I couldn't think of any Chinese shows I have handy that focus on the topic. The novels never mention anything about the courtesans or JiaYi herself being Korean lol sorry for the confusion!
