Legendary Jake E. Lee Solos

*I made this compilation months ago but copy claims completely butchered and destroyed half the video so... here's what's left I guess. I think the Lightning Strikes, Secret Loser, Never Know Why, and the Killer of Giant's solos definitely got cut as well as some others. Sorry y'all.*
There aren't enough die-hard Jake E. Lee fans and I'm sick of it. Y'all need to listen to these solos, listen to the albums (the ORIGINAL master of BATM not that abomination "remaster" where they cut some of his leads and mixed him lower), and check out some Badlands tunes too cause there be some good shit there. I also dig some of the more recent Red Dragon Cartel material. Solid riffs and leads as always.
This is by no means a comprehensive collection of live solos these are just some of my favorites. Many greats were omitted and some studio tracks with fantastic playing were never played live either. In particular, I left out Shot in the Dark and The Ultimate Sin because the camera work/cinematography totally robbed him of his due glory and I couldn't subject you to that frustration.
I don't own any of this, I just love his playing and I feel he is criminally underrated. I'm so sick of Randy and Zakk fans dissing him. He deserves way more respect than he's given because he's a fucking monster.
Hopefully this doesn't get blocked. Here are sources I used, and I ESPECIALLY recommend that Dortmund concert. Carmine Appice is a guest drummer and the band is totally on fire:
• Ozzy Osbourne/Jake E L...
• Ozzy Osbourne - Salt L...
• Video
Btw the thumbnail is kinda a silly mashup meme I made of Jake and Robert E Lee lol... just thought it was funny and looked cool, obviously Jake isn't a piece of shit and I don't seriously associate him with that. Be civil and positive towards each other in the comments or gtfo. Spread the gospel of Jake my friends.

Everyone automatically goes to the Randy Rhoad’s solo’s (or Zack Wilde) when talking about Ozzy’s guitar players but Bark at the Moon has some of the best written solo’s that you’ll ever hear. Jake E Lee is so underrated. Great video 👍.

Absolutely, Jake Solo’s are way more intricate to play than Both Randy and Zak.
@brandondickie3456
@brandondickie3456 Год назад
@@michaelmiglino6512 craziest part about Jake’s playing imo is whenever he does those crazy tricks like the harmonics and pulling the neck and pressing the string behind the nut and releasing it while also pushing the neck making dive bombs without a bar. And he was and is extremely technical down to the tonal effect of using different kinds of batteries in a pedal board, or slanting his pickups to match how Jimi Hendrix had his pickups just to get ‘slightly more fat sounding’ bottom strings and ‘slightly more bite’ from the wound strings. Randy’s the neoclassical guitar lord, Jake’s the mad scientist guitar ninja who partly reminds me of the other 80s shredders of the time, but yet he’s just different for some reason. He’s better than an 80s shredder, and Zakk’s the chicken pickin blues viking.

Randy Rhoads was my favorite. Saw him on the "Diary of a Madman" tour. Also got to see the badass Jake E Lee on the "Bark at the Moon" tour. That tour was the only time I saw Motley Crue live as they opened the show. Never liked Motley and they were lousy that night. I also swear that I heard no Bass during that performance. Tommy Lee showed promise, but I mostly heard Mick Mars' third-rate guitar playing and Vince Neil's whiny vocals. Turned me off of them for good that night in 1984...

Hands down the guy that took technique, tricks, and licks from the greatest and made it his own voice that spoke with his guitar. A true musician that was giving every shredder back in the day a run for their money, even Yngwie, because Jake was an overall well rounded player and never stuck to some certain style or technique that categorized him. Jake was in a category all in his own and that's what every guitar player strives to accomplish in the end. Good for you Jake, you reached that area only few have been.
@ferox965

Jake is why Ozzy popular in 80’s. His look, style is what bridged ozzys “darker sabbath like metal” to the ‘80s flamboyance and distinctive sound. I idolize Randy but no better replacement at time. I dare say on absolute shred scale, Jake prevails.

Jakes command of the fretboard is at an all time high here. Saw him on the TUS tour and Jake was mind blowing, at the top of his game. At that show at the Worcester centrum in Massachusetts, he got pulled into the crowd guitar and all after he dangled his guitar neck out over the crowd during the solo to 'I don't know'. Bodyguards and security rushed in and eventually got him back up on stage. He tried to resume the solo where he left off, however his guitar was horribly out of tune. He took off his guitar at that point and threw it clear across the stage where it slid up underneath a drum riser whilst feeding back at about 120 DB. There was about a five minute clap along with Bass and Drums until he finally reappeared with another guitar, and just slayed the remainder of the show. Every once in a while, Jake would walk up to the area of the stage where the mishap took place and flip a bird to the guy or guys that pulled him off stage,,,all while shredding solos out note for note. What a magical time. I'll never forget it.

The Centre of Eternity solo 3:28 is just phenomenal how precise he is with every note LIVE. I was a huge fan of RR and was devastated when I heard he died. Wasn't crazy about the Brad Gillis era and all the Black Sabbath rehashing Ozzy was doing. When I heard those first two chords on the Bark at the Moon album and then the solo I was floored. He had his own style, sound and tone which was decidedly not Randy's. He did the impossible replacing a guitar hero and legend and making Ozzy even better than he had been.

Jake wrote/composed, as well as he executed live. Stellar guitarist. Transitions fluently played. He's the type of guitarist that any group is lucky to have, he can just as easily join an established group, and-or design his own, he's just that well rounded. Schon is another stellar highly well rounded guitarist, equilvent to Jake. Never become bored within either schon or lee. Makes Felix the cat tricks seem like amature hour. Seen both live, stellar consistency iconics circuit legacy's. Do not miss any chance to view schon or lee live, you missed once in lifetime legacy's, that will never be replaced.

Sometimes the song begins ok with cool riffs, some good progression but then it gets the most boring thing for me. Don't like the vocal nor the instrumental parts in general. @MrEricPymm
@MrEricPymm 2 года назад
@alexander fernandes valu I can understand you're perspective. I don't think critically, most people are going to say Motley are the most talented, skilled musicians or band. It's really all about the feeling they create. They've always kind of been a band that the total is more than the sum of its parts. If it's not something you're into, then you probably never will be. That's ok. I will say I find the older records more interesting and fun and easy to get into. Then it became more certain songs than entire records, which I think kind of supports your commennt...comment... moments, then lose interest. The Corabi record was the best thing they did after awhile. And honestly, I lost interest by the time their newest material came out. But for me, those first two records were just pure magic.

That kind of music is so difficult to play without a whammy bar. RR did it too, but listening to Jake E it sounds like he’s using one throughout. I’ve tried the headstock pull to get dives and stuff like he did but it doesn’t work for me at all. Jake E Lee is a master.

Got that vid on VHS and digital ( on my 'puter and backed up to a drive ). I will never ever NOT have access to that whole concert ! I must have watched it , beginning to end , at LEAST 50 times by now and couldn't even count how many times I've watched just that solo section , lol.

What a Master! So Precise live and very cool to watch as well. He’s always been one of my favourite guitarists but after watching this I have even more respect for how good he really is… unbelievable playing to say the least. He deserves much more credit😀

I was i awe of Randy but Jake was much more talking to me stylistically, he was so beastly ferocious and super emotional at the same time! I tried not to copy anyone note for note, but Jakes attitude in playing was definitely a heavy influence.

Bark at the moon is such a great solo that it rivals Randy’s best. I never saw Randy live, but I was lucky enough to see Jake in ‘86 and with his band Badlands in I believe’90. Phenomenal player.

Jake e Lee, simplemente genial, de los mejores guitarristas de los 80-90. Infravalorado, como Warren de Martini y John Sykes, los tres tenían que estar más valorados.

I love Randy and Zakk but Jake for me not only held his own but carved his own sound. He respected Randy's solos but often added his own style. I love the echo effect in his suicide solution solo and the extended outro to bark at the moon. I got into heavy rock through Jake and Badlands and then back through Ozzy and then other music. His playing shaped mine ( although I never profess to sound like him or get anywhere near) and I'll always be grateful for that. Having seen many bands, if ever I am asked my top gig, it was seeing Badlands at Edwards No8 in Birmingham UK and I stood about 10 feet from Jake! I also played at the rescue rooms and the following week Jake played there with Red Dragon - I stood on the same stage ( albeit a week later) on the same stage as his! Thanks for this amazing compilation!

Jake and Zack were better than Randy Randy was good and had his own style but you can't compare them at 21 years old Zack Wylde was a better guitarist at 17 jakey Lee was the best is the best Zack kind of caught up with him but Jake my God he comes up with some s*** and if you know anything about music in a year or guitarist you would understand otherwise you just probably talking out your ass cuz everybody says Randy Randy Randy Randy was good but he wasn't the best and it's a tragedy what happened to him because he was beautiful person and he didn't really want to be on tour either what happened is Jackie Lee is they didn't want to give him credits for his music and Sharon wanted him out of there because they wanted it all to be Ozzy just like she did with iron maiden when they were touring together she's a piece of crap when it comes to that I do give her credit though cuz she brought Ozzy out of a depression and now we have this beautiful music but she's still kind of a garbage person

Jakes version of the crazy train solo never clicked with me , but the intro and outdo he plays to crazy train is wonderful and I can’t get enough. Also the paranoid solo excellent

I always thought Jake did a pretty good job of honoring what Randy played solo-wise while staying within his own style. No one is EVER going to ... " nail " Randy's stuff, he was one of a kind, but Jake made it cool in it's own way.
