This interview took place with Omari in 2015 when he was in the Iconic House of Mizrahi. He said to me recently “Back in 2004 I would have never thought a kid from West Africa, Senegal would be a Future Founding Father of my own House. Ballroom changed how I viewed myself and my potential to lead other’s. Starting my ballroom career as a 007 not knowing anything about ball culture I was just so happy to see other bodies and like minded individuals trying to make a name for themselves. My journey made it possible for me to learn and be apart of some of ballrooms Iconic houses.
Khan, Chanel, Mizrahi all taught me so much about leadership and parenthood. Mizrahi gave me the chance to step up and represent the house Internationally! Andre, Jack and Kelly gave me a family that supported my needs to have an audience.
Ballroom guided me through different phases of my life that taught me compassion, empathy & strengthened my mind to be able to take on my current role as the Founding Father of The International Royal House of NiNa Oricci.
