I never understood why people love Ariana so much. She has a great technique but here voice is way to squeaky for me. I could never listen to a full album of Ariana. To me Jessie J has the potential to become legendary later in life. She probably doesn't really "fit" in today's pop culture but she has that diva voice that it needs. I don't know, but she could be like Tina Turner which had her first big success when she was 46. So Jessie's time might still come.

It's even fair to say that he actually borderline transcends race to a degree. He was,in all likelihood, the most iconic artist of his time and that reputation still holds it's weight today. How many people could you say the same about? Maybe a handful? Not everything is racially motivated. MJ had his demons. Some of those demons just made their way out of the closet while most keep them firmly sealed away.

I agree, like a lot of these singers like Jessie and usher and such I would think they’re pretty iconic in their own rights but there’s so many who have their own thing. And many who have similar things.

Now we have the internet, social media etc so it's pretty easy to find good singers and stuff. Nobody really stands out anymore. Ariana is the only artist i can think of (from the past 5/6 years) that is worthy of the "legendary" status because she's done a lot of controversial stuff (like God is a woman) and she tied The Beatles' record (1964) so her career is already legendary.

its easy to define a genre when mass media is promoting "new" genres for the first time in media history. Not saying the talent wasnt deserving, but lets not pretend that at the time, media promoted these artists to legendary levels because all of it was new in the age of recorded audio and tv media.

@@GO-wu3tf idk, I personally do consider Mariah Carey to be legendary in a way. Like, everyone knows her and can recognise her songs and she's generally considered to be an amazing singer (if we ignore her not getting her voice ready for performances often)

I know you didnt ask but: - I agree - I'm not a huge fan of Arianna, but she'll definitely be legendary someday with her high notes - Ed Sheeran is no longer at his peak, I think he's past that and wont be legendary

She has the vocal power of Mariah Carey but many, not all, of her songs lack substance or timeless lyrics the way MC does. Like its always a good day for MC throwbacks, but have to be in the mood for Ari. Thats just me personally tho

Her songs have been growing and still she is always making music based on her life thats how you can know that an artist is growing.

@@fergiiie2028 I do think Mariah’s vocals have already made her legendary. Mariah, Whitney, and many others set the bar so high for anyone else, with their amazing vocal ranges. Whitney, it was just a damn shame about the drugs... legend gone too soon, casualty of the fame itself.

And the question of the day... what the heck happen to Janet Jackson? she was just hitting the top of her game when she signed that deal back in the 90’s... so much controversy, then sadly a few years later never more. Yeah yeah Super Bowl... but... she was well on track for legend status, derailed by a recording contract gone bad.

@@slrphotography I don’t know. With all of the legends here I can name like 5 songs but I can’t name one of Janet Jackson’s. Maybe it’s just me though
