Legion - Retribution Paladin - Full DPS Guide 7.3.2 [Basics] 

I hear it a lot: "Ret is boring, simple rotation, no damage and they are bad!". To be honest, yes Rets rotation is kinda boring, however thats up to preference. I for example really like the rota. There are still many things which average/good ret pallys are doing wrong. You can dish out good amount of damage, just by generating/spending Holypower. But if you min/max every global CD you will see a big difference between someone who plays ret correctly and someone who doesnt. The other statement, that I can not agree with, is: "Ret Pallys are bad" Thats just not true at all! If you only look at the damage numbers, yes Ret is not up there together with Windwalkers and Fury Warriors. We are middle of the pack, which is good. But the damage Windwalkers and Fury Warriors provide makes up for the utility Rets have. We bring Wisdom a really good Manabuff, Kings a nice Absorb Shield, Lay on Hands a clutch heal that tops pretty much every raid member once during an encounter, Freedom to ignore slows effects, Blessing of Protection an immunity to every physical Attack and Divine Shield just a plain old immunity that cleanses literally every debuff on us (well most of em). Rets are in a really good spot, so far there are 14 Guilds who have cleared the new raid on Mythic difficulty and 6 of those Guilds activly used a Ret Pally during most of the fights while they were progressing. Also, for most of the people asking for the Stat priority (if you are using Antorus Gear, which you should): Mastery=Haste > Versatility > Crit Lets talk about Haste quickly, people dont know SHIT about Stats for Ret. There is no: "you need +25% Haste and higher blah, blah". Those are the Haste "Break Points": 12.5% 1 additional GCD during Judgment window 1 additional GCD during Whispers of the Nathrezim buff (Legendary Cape) 30% 1 additional GCD during Judgment window Easier management of Whispers of the Nathrezim buff as the only GCD outside of Judgment is to refresh the Judgment debuff itself 38% During 15 stacks of Crusade you have reached the GCD cap of 0.75 seconds. For those who want to know my sources, I got most of this information from the Paladin Discord and I myself main a Ret Paladin since the Launch of Legion. i have Final Verdict>Fires of Justice> Fist of Justice>Victors Blade>Eye for an Eye>Judgment of Light>Crusade, and I'm top 10DPS in my 25 man Raid Group. It's about managing your cooldowns properly and always having downtime to build HP, then you can unleash a somewhat mid raid burst to reach 3MilDPS for a good 12-14 Seconds. Works a charm. 1.6 DPS on a bad day

I m a retri, i find we do very decent damage in raid and in mm+ , but i wish they made the whole class more fun to play, the crusade is the only fun part , then it’s just waiting for the burst to come back

Its Haste +25%,Mastery with t21and Greater Judgment

It’s better to get 3 or 4 hp before you use judgement. When you do, use judgement then templars verdict otherwise you waste the first judgement

Use judg right before verdict. Starting with it on moving target is no no. Debuf may expire before you have 3 hp for verdict. Using i right before verdict will get rid of that delay and overcap. I`m sure you raid more than me but your rotation sugestion is a lost of dps

You gotta tell me what reshade settings you're using. There's no way this is in the game presets. Please be a kind sir.

My rotation is so bad, which in return is making my dps bad. Every time I que for lfr all the gear gives me crit and mastery and says it’s an upgrade. My haste is my lowest and I honestly don’t know what to do.

You never want to use Judgement on the pull! You are wasting a valuable window of damage while building up holy power. You would normally Divine Steed-> Potion-> Blade of Justice-> Zeal-> Judgement-> Wings-> Temp Verdict-> Wake of Ash-> Temp Verdict. With Liadrin's Fury and Teir 20 4-piece, this will generate a ton of holy power for you to spend. If you have tier 20 set bonus, you will get 3 holy power from Blade of Justice rather than 2, which will allow you to pool more holy power at the start and throughout the fight.

Normally I play Unholy DK, and Holy-Paladin as an Alt. In our last alt-raid we had too many healers and I had to play Ret. Coming from one of the best designed speccs to one of the worst really made everything feel really really boring. I was asuming that I might have done something wrong, but your guide told me that I did it right. It's a shame and I feel sorry for all those dedicated Rets out there.

This was the first since vanilla that i changed my main to another class. Ret in Legion is incredibly boring and bad designed (in my opinion). My paladin is like a "son" to me loool. but i just can't play it anymore. I rather play holy. Lets hope they change it again next expansion. I want hammer of wrath back.
