Cade and Brent review the upcoming LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters set 21108 Title Music: Thunderclock - Tim Maloney Building Music: And Now For That Massive Coronary - Peter Gresser
Been looking forward to this set since word of its development. Huge amount of praise and thanks to the designer. Keep up the good work and can't wait for the UK release.
I have watched this video more than 5 times. Thanks Brent Waller for making this set possible; I have watched the movie, not fan of Ghostbusters but I do like detailed models like this model so I have placed my order this week and I cannot wait to build it.
I'm (very) late to the party, but I only discovered this set like 14 days ago after watching the Icons version of this model and the minifigure (missing of) reference. I instantly fell in love with it and sourced one right away. Specially after realizing it's 8 studs wide and as a car guy, this would fit perfectly next to 8 studs wide Speed Champions. Which turned out it does! Build mine last weekend and man, they blew this one out of the park. I totally love it. All these details, specially the roof, I'm more impressed with this smaller version than the much bigger Icons car. And with printed parts only, the 38-ish metallic silver pieces, the excellent box and instructions, this really feels like a more premium set. Glad I got it ance nice to see the original Ideas designer here. So I should thank you also. Only thing I found 'off' is the grey pneumatic t-connector pieces used to attach the blue hose(s) to the side of the car. I haven't tried it myself, and maybe the hose doesn't fit, but my thought was to use those water tap/faucet pieces in blue and replace the 2 white hook pieces to a standard 1x2 plate. Then put the hose on the 'water outlet' side and then just put the tap bottom on the white brick. And looking at the real Ecto-1, that one has a right side mirror that sits more forward than the left one. They did a clever piece usage for the left mirror. They could have used the same trick for the right side, just a stud (or two) more forwards. But this is just nitpicking. This is my favorite car model of all 8 stud wide cars. And this predated the 8-stud Speed Champions by 6 years. When building this, it's obvious how many of the techniques used here, are also used in the Speed Champion models. This must be like the gran daddy of 8 stud cars.
I rarely comment on LEGO reviews... but I LOVE this review, by far my most favourite review ever! I can not wait to purchase a few copies of this set Excellent model! You are very impressive when you speak about the difference from your original creation and the design differences. You say you are biassed, but in all honesty I would think many others would be upset by all the changes, but you seem to have a very gracious attitude. Im blown away. So impressed. If you ever find yourself in Toronto Canada, we would love to have you as a guest speaker for Brickfete (LEGO fan festival) to speak to the AFOLs about the process you went through being part of LEGO cuusoo. Subscribing!!! Keep posting and making sets Ideas.
Great stuff. Can't wait to buy my set. I agree the one negative I have with the production set is the round white bits on the bonnet. Will be very interested to see if someone comes up with a better alternative.
This is awesome. I hope these sets get enough attention to do others. The train from Back to the Future. The firehouse from Ghostbusters just to start. Great review
Got my set the other day and I love it. A couple of things I preferred from your set though were: Venkman's hair. What piece did you use for this? Your Venkman perfectly captures Murray's trademark receding hairline. And also, there is no PKE meter accessory for Egon. :( All in all though, amazing set and great fun to build!
I can't wait to get this set. Thanks for the idea! :D Oh, just a note. There is a VERY big difference in the sound level between you two. Can't here one of you (Brent) so I turn up the volume only to be blasted away when the other one talks! ;) No biggie...
Hello great review I just bought 2 ghostbusters lego sets I can't wait to get them I'm building one and leaving the other one in the box I'm a huge ghostbusters fan
Thanks,, for your reviews.. cz,, I just bought it at my local toysrus ,, I was shocked to see it there and now after the review ,, I will open the package and build it , for fun.
ok I have a 2 things to say: 1. it's a good thing the logo is printed on there because I'm bad at putting on stickers. and WHERE DID YOU GET THE GHOST BUSTERS SUITS!!!!!?????
Point 1: Awesome job guys! Point 2: Will you comment on the Fire House and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man sets in the background and as to whether they will EVER be made public? Point 3: And if not, maybe release the instructions yourself??
1) Thanks! 2) The Marshmallow Man is on Lego Ideas now, go vote for it if you want it to become a real set here lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/62418 3) I released the LDD file for the firehouse online here www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92672
Hi Just built my ecto 1 and wondered what the large 'Lego' imprinted orange piece is for? Its in the contents index but nowhere in the build instructions! Whats it for guys?
