This is it: I had this one as a kid back in the day. Building and playing with this very set is what cemented my love for medieval history. Thank you for bringing back so many fond memories.

We were poor growing up and lego was an only once in a while thing but I remember my mom and dad buying this for me for Christmas I was floored.

oh the nostalgia, i had this set once and even learnt to build it off by heart since i lost the instruction manual. I upgraded it a tiny bit by putting in the throne that you got from Lego Chess PC game in the tower with the trap door

I've had this set since 1996 and watching this amazing building video made me realize just how many pieces are missing from it after all these years lol. I'm still going to try my best to revive it soon

This set is almost scary by today's standards for Lego. All the free floating pieces, so many weird or barely holding together connections and all the colors being so similar with very little breaks. Kids back then had a trial by fire with this set. And yet it looks amazing, truly a testament to how good lego designers have always been even with different policies

This is one of only two sets to have the 5x5 facet wedge in black, along with a Pirates set (6250) from 1997. The 2x2x3 1/3 octagonal brick in the old light gray also appeared in one other set from the Royal Knights faction (6078) and a "Fright Knights" set (6087) in '97. This is also the only standard appearance of the 6x6x6 corner panel w/arched window in black. The dressing on the king's horse is also exclusive to this set, and this is the last original set to have the 1x2 brick w/groove in Mata blue, though it would make one more appearance in the "City Airport" (10159) in 2004-which was a re-release of a set (6597) from a decade before. This is also the first of three sets to have the 2x2 round flat tile in that color.
