The explosion mechanics of these old sets are so much better than what we have today. Now explosions are done usually with a lever mechanic of some kind. Half the time the explosion isn't that great. But the old explosion was just perfect.
Too bad we didn't get a saloon. But a general store is at lesst one generic building besides the obligatory sheriff's office and bank. I really appreciate how you focus on the play features. The whole fascination and magic with the glorious 90s sets is the combination of the charming simplicity (from today's point of view) and amazingly effective play functions. Many sets of the last years sacrificed just too much of their look mediocre functions (with exceptions). Luckily thing have become better nowadays.
A saloon would’ve been so cool! But, like I said, it’s understandable why we didn’t get one. And you’re right; most 90s sets not only looked good (especially for the time), they were fun to play with.
Thank you! I kinda wish this theme had continued for a few more years, because - like you said - there are so many things you can do with it. I would’ve loved to have seen a train for the bandits to rob!
I’ve been watching your videos since the very beginning, with the Exploriens set. Without a doubt some of the best vintage set reviews ever to land on RU-vid. Awesome set! Keep it up!
Any time I got chrome gold coins, I always kept the sprue and treated it like a gold nugget worth more than the coins themselves. Personally I prefer the 1x1 round plates in regular yellow from classic Castle and the 1x1 round tiles in pearl gold from more recent sets.
I really wish the Lone Ranger movie would’ve been better received, because the sets we got for it were amazing, and I would’ve loved to have seen what else they could come up with had the line continued. Thanks for watching! 😎👍
My friend had some sets of this series. Such a cool theme. Always wanted it. I don't think I'll get such rare sets but I'm thinking about building sets with analogue pieces with instructions.
I don't own Fort Legoredo (yet), but my cousin and friend had one, and I played with it a lot. I still think this one is my favourite. The sort of civilian life is missing in a lot of sets in the historical themes, so I'm glad this one does. The state of the stickers on your copy, especially the waggon, made me anxcious. I use the soldier as the driver, so that the one unique figure can be used in the store. An additional minifigure or two could've been useful, maybe a woman (beside the Indians, not a single woman to be found in the West?) and I wouldn't have minded to sacrifice the cannon to stay within the price range. I do think the whole Western/Wild West theme could've used more variety in the minifigures. What I mean with that is use different faces, different hats, scarf or no scarf et cetera. Deputy Dan for example always has the same torso, face, pants and hat combo. You can switch it yourself obviously, but if you build the theme as per instructions, you'll end up with many identical deputy's, identical black Bart's, identical Flatfoot Thomsen's. Pirates did a much better job in this regard.
Great video and content - you have a new follower! I always wanted this set as a kid but never did get it, I'm afraid. But, this was as good as having it. Thanks for the nostalgia!
Poor Banker....lol eh they have made Many but to few sets they shuld have made more wild western building's maybe a Saloon town square or even put a bit more detail in the Union Army Calvary,Infantry, even have some Altelery I wish I culdive gotten the Altelery wagon 6716 but they shuldive added few things for it an extra soldger in front for a gunman and an special crate to hold a few cannon ball's right behind the cannon. I wish they culd do an anaversery and Put the old set back out into stores and make and announcement of it. Keep up the video's! Thanks for the old memories man I had gotten only one set that was the 3 soldiers lol still have them but lost the general's hat but added lone ranger soldiers from the newer version to make an platoon love theyse sets!
I'm a little late in discovering this channel, but the content is amazing! I only had the Calvary battle pack, but I could be easily seduced into collecting the whole line!
I had all the Western sets back as a kid, apart from the Indian ones. Sold them about 10 years ago for dirt cheap just to free up space. I regretted it. Especially since my sister has a kid now who would probably love it in a year or two.
Looks like the same wooden walls used in a few sets I'd just add bout 4 more extending the store a bit and white walls for the store as well o wish they added more of those black fencing
I’ve seen pictures of that set, but I’ve never had my hands on one. I really wish they would’ve made one for the 90s Wild West theme - that would’ve been so cool!
A saloon would have to be its own, unique set. One of the reasons it didn't get made probably was because they wouldn't have gotten away with a simple front and some tables inside. That said it could be a wonderful "LEGO ideas"-set, don't you think?
