Great review of 7740. Have been picking up yellow and red doors ad yellow train windows to build up my moc version of 7740, which includes a yellow red version of the MetroLiner observation car. Take care!!
Great, but you need the expansion sets before you put it under the tree. Those would be 7815 and 7819, which are a mail car, (or TPO as it’s known where this was sold), and a sleeper car. Have fun!
Does your travel thingy up the voltage to 220-240v? Or is it handing off at 110? It’s seemed that it was going slow. Or maybe it was the pickups you were talking about
It does not and after you commented, that is when I realized that the input would be greater in Europe. I am going to get a converter to see this trains true speed:)
Welcome to world of Lego 12v! If you're going to expand your setup. I would replace your 7864 with a beefy model train DC transformer. BTW nice find. The 7740 was my first 12v set.
Nice looking lego set , I always wanted that one :D Spisewagen is german for restaurant car. So if posible the bricks that have the "spisewagen" sticker on them, should be on the wagon with the pantograph on top.
Thank you! I will switch this around. I was quick when filming this and did not look up the words to see where the parts belong. I am happy to be learning new things as my train collection grows!
@@leggomyjameso6082 You are most welcome and we can't know every language there is, looking forward to seeing the collection grow! Just one more thing, on the Sticker sheet and sorry if it is too much, I am just a humble Danish train nerd :D DSB: refers too Danske Stats Baner (Danish State Railways) SJ: Refers too Statens Järnvägar (Swedish State Railways) NSB: Refers too Norges Statsbaner (Norwegian State Railways) now sadly defunct back in 1996. DB: Refers too Deutsche Bahn (German State Railways) and what you have on your train. SNCF: refers too Société nationale des chemins de fer français (French national operator), FS: refers too Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (Italian State Railway) And last, the two connected arrows on the top row number 3-4 from the left refers too Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch State Railways) if I am correct. The rest I sadly don't recognize.
From left to right - 1st row: Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium (B), Denmark (DSB), Italy (FS), France (SNCF), 2nd row: Austria, Sweden (SJ), United Kingdom, Norway (NSB), Finland (VR). These are old logos which were still in use in the 1980s and some of them have since been replaced by new logos.
Hi there i have a question my train from this set 7740 the middle wheels on the train motor don't turn when the train is running on the track do you know why?
@@MISSDELUCA I am not 100% certain. If I was to guess, they are dummy wheels and aren’t attached to the motor. If you put new bands on them, they will turn do to friction. I’ll have to get this train set back out and see if all three spin
The pick-ups looks fine, I guess you are not getting the full voltage range to the rails (when no consumption you should have at least 14V when dialed to the max). As you live in US I assume you only have 110v at your house outlets and would need an AC to AC converter. The trafo for the 12V train is made for 220V 50/60 Hz input. BTW Great find! The bricks looks to be in great condition, I still have that train on my "to get list".
Thank you! You are correct. I did not know this when I was using the train but I need to increase the input to match what it would be in Europe. Leave it to the Lego/RU-vid community to help me with my train collection. I look forward to getting the converter and seeing the actual speed of the train. And yes, this one is in amazing condition and an awesome set to get!
@@leggomyjameso6082 Looking forward to see the full potential released! 😁 I will also get the set at some point (following several sellers locally). For now I have 7735, 7730, 7760 and a 7745 on it's way. I also have a couple of the rolling stocks and a few of the buildings (like 7866) from the 12V area.
the locomotive is clearly a German class 103, that's why almost everybody puts the German stickers on (also there is only a German "Speisewagen" sticker for the dining car). The box however has a French price, 649 Franc, which is almost exactly 100€.
