I got this set for my birthday 20 years ago. I remember being so psyched prior getting it and I enjoyed building and playing with it a lot. This is the only lego train set I ever owned but I still possess it today. And all the electric element are still in working order. I recently came out of my dark age and I am now considering buying new train sets such as the horizon express. It feels good being a grown up with the means to indulge in your younger days joys. :)

I think this is much better than the load and haul railroad. The accessories are better, the freight trucks are better, but most of all the locomotive is better. Economy vs first class. You should do a comparison video between the 2 sets

Is it only me but i think lego needs to go back to making trains again. I mean they only have like 3 for sale these days and 2 where released nearly four years ago. Maybe they will make new ones that use rechargable packs and apps for control/9v style tracks with a bluetooth control box that allows you to remote control switch tracks and even have slope tracks like the old monorail and duplo tracks do.

I got this set for Christmas in 2014 and I played with it so much that I thought that I was going to break the motor. It was the most played with lego train set that I have ever owned.

Some have already been disassembled - mainly the older ones that done roll very well. Most of the ones from 1980 and up I will keep together

Is it just me or did the audio levels seem really high or really low, around the portion of minifigures? Could be my speaker. Very nice truck play feature and design. The freight train reminds me alot of LEGO LOCO, it's a good layout of cars too.
