Looking at a 25 year old set - 4555 Cargo Station. From the 9V train era. A classic time with a beautiful box and a flimsy design. Not cat proof. But I like it.

You gota love old lego sets. They have the clutch power of a dead man's hand.

Me screaming at the screen that the rail on top of the building is still off by one stud^^ Also the "break" goes to the middle of one of the containers, so the claws are centred on it. When you want to build a long train with these cars you are in somewhat bad luck - the blue 6x24 train base was only ever made for this set. There are 6x28 base plates (with 2x2 holes) that allow you to place 3 oldscool containers. And of cause many in grey or black...

Absolutely love this set. So simple yet it's really effective design. Managed to get a copy a few years ago. Quite hard to find over here in the UK. Remember day dreaming about it back when I first saw it in a catalogue in 96. Here's hoping that Lego releases more train related sets in the future. Great vid.

I got this set and it is 1 of the best cargo stations out there. They did a more modern one that came with the train with the cow in 2014. But that is a heck of a lot smaller. Also doesn't exactly come with an unloading area where a truck could pass underneath. But it still looks like they wanted to homage it.

My first three kids and I had this back in the day and it was one of our favorites. I just absolutely love the 9v stuff and all of the cool accessories ( ex. Level crossing,etc...) and trains they had for them. Great video.

This is the best train structure LEGO has ever made. You can talk about the 2 metro stations from the 90s but we get railway stations much more than freight stations. Haven’t gotten a freight station in a non powered train set since the cargo crane in 2003. I love the 4x8 vintage intermodal shipping containers but it bugs me every time they are placed on the 6x24 train bases. I only use the 6x28 versions because you can fit 3 4x8 shipping containers back to back. It may be simple and flimsy but I love it and I’m a #FOOL . I’m guessing six flags needs another shipment of garbage cans. I’ve always loved the silver/grey outlines of the 9 volt train sets with the blue caves and volcanic tunnel light. It always amuses me when they use the raceway pit stop road plates from the victory lap raceway and motor speedway set for other things like the loading lane in this set or gasoline/petroleum stations. #JAM #BAT what is your favourite piece of rolling stock from each era of LEGO trains. Blue 4.5, blue 12, grey 4.5, grey 12, 9, RC, PF and powered up

Thats funny your cat knocked it over. I had a similar experience with mine thinking my ucs millennium falcon made a great place to sit, causing the rear engine to break off. I also wish Lego would make sets like this nowadays. These older sets do have a nice charm to them as well.

Love this set, after watching this. The blue background is pretty dark (I mean that both ways) but I realise it sets off the yellow really well. I like how Lego just couldn't be bothered and made the crane leg just one big piece. (Must be one of the biggest pieces there is, amongst the regular bricks.) Avoids a lot of collapsing constructions and miserable kids. They must have tested that construction. Also, if you count your studs right, I think you can cram all three containers on there.

I think LEGO are going to start making Trains for 'Adults' because the other day I saw the - LEGO 10277 Crocodile Locomotive on Brick Fanatics Web site. It Looked cool ;) Hopefully it will be the start of more Train stuff for (Hmm) :D Adults.

I wanted this sooooo bad as a kid. I just love it. Always found it kinda weird that they just used the unmodified racing baseplate though!? The hoist is definitely the best part of this set - loooove it! Oh, and I agree on the accessories for trains - there's got to be more of that. The new brown cargo train is a step in the right direction. But, I think there's a market for more - cargo stations, crossings, signal towers etc. Great set and great video! Thanks a lot for sharing this BT - keep up the great work :-)

Unfortunately, I think The Lego Group doesn't sell individual rail cars anymore because the newer train motors can only pull so many cars, and I think The Lego Group is afraid that users will try to pull too many cars with a train motor, and complain to them. Of course, if you build a locomotive with a PF or PU XL motor, it can likely pull dozens of cars.

@@notmuch_23 Old 9v train motor can pull so many train cars but apparently, the new train motors are way less powerful.
@notmuch_23
@notmuch_23 2 года назад
@@jesss1561 yeah, most likely because the new motors are pulling current from batteries, and the old ones pulled current from the rails and ultimately the wall, which can very likely supply much more current.

This is from my childhood. I always dreamed about having one of these train sets, but they were always too expensive for my parents to get. Even now I only have a few. When I can sell my house I hope to have a much bigger area to run trains and expand my city layout.
@BrickTsar
@BrickTsar 4 года назад
I went through that with other things. My parents couldn’t afford. Then I couldn’t afford it. When LEGO came out with the 9V trains I wanted them badly but I had never bought a LEGO set that was over $100. Actually I probably had never even paid $50 for a set - so $100+ set were out of my price range. Then one day I found the first 9v freight train complete in box for $35 at a flea market. It would still be years later before I could get more. In 1999 it got easier. As my pay went up and there were more ways of getting things with the internet

Train. Using the Victory Lap baseplate. Is that to imply a speedy delivery? ...I didn't know the keyboard piece had been around so long. Get some red, 1x1 technic beams and some liftarms to brace those columns, if you wanna reinforce them some.

Even though Lego announced it years in advance, I was never a fan of the transition from 12V to 9V. I can't be bothered with it. It's a generation thing. And if I want metal rails, I'll switch to HO scale. Can't help giggling over the hidden cruelty here. Lego must have been: the production line is still there and we need to get rid of the 12Vrails. Let's put a ton in the set! Making the 12V memory a bit less harsh but frustrating kids at the same time, lol.
