It totally feels like it adds lore to the story, like the troll being accepted into the kingdom despite being a troll (enemy troop). It also makes me wonder if the three villains that escaped were the three villains in this game.
I think the real reason why this game was so unique is because of the fact of how original this is from lego than today's games, yes there are some decent games today but some of them are licenced. It makes me miss the good old days when lego really bring their original ideas to the market.
That first alien scene will always make me chuckle, the Alien commander just does not give a hell about what's going on, he just want's to build his castle!
The Wizard just wanted his dead wife back, the Pirates just wanted to be rich forever, and the Aliens just wanted to go home. Pretty relatable stories not gonna lie.
All factions have convincing motives. The kingdom wanted to defend themselves from an unprovoked attack from the Wizard’s army, not knowing his motives. The astronauts wanted resources. The imperials wanted to maintain order.
The choice of allies for each campaign still cracks me up after all this time Medievals and Dwarves? Makes sense in many fantasy settings Aliens and Space Pirates? Ok, that's been seen before Colonials? Fuck it, give em ninjas
I lost the charger I may buy a new one. I forgot how exactly but I would take control of one of their builders and be able to build their buildings and units as well as my own
Be honest folks.... We ALL were the Alien Commander as children. We didn't know what was going on in the world and we didn't care, we just wanted to build our Legos in peace :) Also, I wish lego would make more original games/themes today instead of the licensed stuff. I'd love for a game involving Mars Mission and Space Police.
@@kaiserstorm886 Apparently referencing anime, being lustful, or just referencing memes means you're a man of culture...believe me I wouldn't think that either.
I just randomly remembered this game and remember spending hours, trying as hard as I can to beat it. I played it everyday but I never actually beat it, LEGO Battles was such a creative and forgotten lego game
Back when things were simple and wholesome and good before darkness clouded the visions of men great works of creativity would frame these holes in the form of Legos Bionicle‘s megablocks etc. may these childhood memories remain grand and firm within the mortal memory. Thank you for the fond memories.
Did anyone just move their base to a completely different area and the ‘AI’ would never find you because it was just programmed to go to the area you started in.
I remember lying in my bed playing this game late some night and they destroyed my base, but I had some units and a builder left and just super slowly made a whole new base because of this lol
I love it when old games hide pop-culture references their audience obviously wouldn't get lol Men in black, Braveheart, maybe even Pirates of the Caribbean to a certain extent
Man, as a RTS and strategy lover, I sunk so many hours into this game as a kid, I remember 100%ing the shop and all the different race's campaigns. If only lego would make another game like this again.. the Ninjago spinoff that traded army vs. army and turned it into a MOBA killed it.
Dang, I knew no one else who had this game and I 100% the game save for the three trophies you get in multiplayer matches. That's hella respectable though, cause as well as my strategy worked against the game, I don't think it'd work well against other people lol
I remember this being so much fun. And these cutscenes all came back to me. This and the Complete Saga managed to convey so much personality with so relatively little.
I remember playing this wen a was a lot younger, its the best game ever end of statement. thank you for the video so I can relive the past because I lost the game
This honestly reminds me that I need to locate a dumped copy of this game, I played it a lot AGES ago and haven't been able to touch it since because it was sold by my stepdad. Had some fun times with it. Also finally deserves a full remaster
Bro I've waiting for like 7 years to get the Santa character you can only get on Christmas evertime it's Christmas I'm not at my grandads house I'm hoping to get it this Christmas
@@allahsrighthandskengman9000 look, if you are desperate, you could cheese it with the system clock, it's how I got the jolly fat man in a July long long ago
I have played through this entire game and i can now decide what my favorite story is 1. Pirates My most favorite is the pirates I absolutely love the building designs and they have decent ally faction units also MONKEY!!!! 2. King The first ever campaign is my second favorite because the music is the most recognizable i also enjoyed this campaign story and the dwarves are pretty cool allies 3. Alien The alien story is also a good one i love the entire plot is just the alien commanders want to complete it’s lego set also calling mars a “ZIFFING ROCK!” Is funny 4. Imperials I was deciding whether this would he my 3rd favorite but i put it here because the ninjas are not very interesting allies also they are barely used in the campaign i do love the music though 5. Colonists I put them here because i just do not enjoy this adventure mode very much though i liked the little robots thats about it i preferred playing as the space police than the actual colonists themselves 6. Wizard The least favorite is the wizard i just do not enjoy this very much the trolls aren’t very interesting allies and the music isn’t too amazing i also don’t like the building designs even if they do fit the skeletons also the wizard’s attack sound is annoying
The Pirate story is my all time favorite 8:46 8:52 8:55 Moment when that one pirate got drunk and picked up a crab goes to show that he had too much Rum LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 And Captain Brickbeard is sober as ever
I like how all characters are apparently wearing tight leather clothes since thats the sound effect they use for characters moving. I also remember being sad how many of the characters with inverted colors didn’t exist as real lego figures. Like the two main character mars mission humans and the bluecoat soldiers.
I Just realized the Humans wanted to colonize mars and saw the aliens as a threat but actually the aliens just wanted fuel for there ship they had no plans to settle on mars Humans are the badguys
It’d be great if Lego could make a game like this again one day. With all their original themes crossing over with each other rather than another Lego Star Wars or Harry Potter game.
Both the Age of Empires and Command & Conquer series are the most similar gameplay wise (though C&C also has some pretty humorous cutscenes like this as well)
Not going to lie, this would have been good on PC as well as DS also 3:20 looks like the Rock Raiders made it back and then became a Space Police (he looks like an older version of Chief)
