I like the gimmick of the robbers being attacked/foiled by a wild animal in each set. I like the naked guy, especially now I realize he was sprayed by the skunk in the other set, but I wish they would have ditched the helicopter and focused on a cooler hideout.
Agree - I love everything but could live without the helicopter. I bought for the bear and the paw print minifig guy. I got it on sale or else I would not have purchased it.
Personally, I think that although brown black do have a real potential to be dangerous, black bears (like the one in this model) are much more likely to ignore humans instead of attacking them.
I got this today as well, and I did like it. The helicopter was pretty good and the small building was a nice addition. The dune buggy sort of vehicle was nice. And the bear was cool. The bee hive was a cool detail for the bear too. It was quit a nice 20 minute set build.
I wish that City had some more actual CITY stuff, and not the police. While Creator does provide some, I want more businesses darnit! If LEGO released a subtheme for kids ages 8-14 with that type of thing, I would LOVE it. But until then, I'm stuck with this.
I just want the naked/underwear minifigure and I will leave him just running in my city XD I am for some reason really glad LEGO made a minifigure like this.
9:40 Well, yes, and no. They’re much like sharks; They have the potential to be extremely deadly, but as long as they’re not hungry and you stay out of their way, they’ll just leave you alone
I might get several of these cheap and convert them into Bell V22 Osprey type vehicles. Most of the major elements are there - fuselage (it'll take quite a bit of work but I think it's doable), ramp, twin rotors of the same size.
A way to counter the pieces to price ratio would be to include the weight price. That way you could have to set of prices and compare them to one another.
The hideout is a little comic, but its nice and suggestive, like you can see exactly what will happen, the bear will get some honey make some bees mad whilst mountain man is bathing
Have you ever considered weighing each set, and reporting price per weight? I appreciate how you often discuss volume, but weight would be less subjective.
I agree with you though, but price / (weight - instr. weight) would be perfect. Personally I always get annoyed when people cite the price per part for a set that is built from tiny parts. At least Jang looks at other factors too and doesn't follow the ppp blindly.
Shame about the price, and also the wasted space inside the helicopter, I guess giving it another layer of bricks would make it way more accessible, but the minifig in boxers, just hilarious! I doubt they will make a female version of this one, that's maybe a no-no for Lego!
That's such a great figure though (the good looking naked guy)! Is the hole under the bee hive large enough to be placed on a minifig head? A missed opportunity otherwise...
I don't like molded pieces as much but on helicopters I wish they used them to make roof removal easy. That way there can be more playability on the inside
Just bought this set and I agree it's very "meh". To be honest the only interesting part is the bear and the guy he's mauling. I mean, that's odd, right? LEGO releasing a set where the implication is a guy is getting brutally attacked by a bear? I'm not hating on it, I just wanted to get it to add a "...and here's a weird thing..." point of interest to my Lego city.
I was thinking it would be $40 or $50, but $60? Really? That’s way too expensive. $50 at most, and even then that’s a stretch to some people. I feel like the main reason people will buy the set is for the minifig taking a bath, or they’ll just buy the fig on Bricklink/eBay/etc

As far as play goes I think you can just toss a bunch of figures inside the helicopter without attaching them.
Love the colours used for police minifigures, and the underwear guy is awesome, but the rest...Meh. It almost feels like a Juniors set design-wise, and the price is wow, just wow. It'd be overpriced at $40 let alone $60. Yikes.
They spent too much time on the helicopter and the rest of the set is way too simple and unexciting. As someone else said it almost looks like it was a Juniors set. That buggy is ugly as sin. Too blocky looking with the front axles.
Kinda of a weak set the chopper is very very very hollow not GOOD. I say make it big enough to hold mini figs inside the chopper and boom great and one more cop
You basically nailed it. Not a great value. The set of more of a gimmick set than a great buy or great build. Look! It's a bear! A bathing guy in boxer shorts! A bee hive! I, too, had this as a $45 set. Not $60. Too many pieces in builds that *aren't* the helicopter. At least I got it on sale. Wish I had returned it before I opened it. And I rarely say that about a Lego set.
If this were a $20-25 set with all of the crook stuff left in (perhaps even expanded-the ladder?) and with a tiny little minimalistic helicopter, this might be a must-buy. But $60 for this amount of stuff and/or parts? $60?!? And that bear and beehive are so good... That's kind of ironic.
The bear looks good, but I prefer it a little more blocky, especially around its mouth. I'm not so happy with the invention of honeycomb piece... I have no problem when they make new minifig accesories, but an object like that doesn't feel right. Helicopter looks kind of ugly and not so cool to me. Main reasons are that cockpit piece which I don't like and the placing of front landing gear. Buggy is... almost nice, but the super small ground clearance given by new city axle pieces is just strange and feels wrong. Least favorite of 2018 City line so far.
That dude has dog footprints on his undies. Those are definitely not bear paws. Bear paws have five toes, not four: westernwildlife.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/griz_paws.jpg If legoi intended those to be bear paws, then they've messed up, but I think he was just supposed to have funny/cute underwear to offset the otherwise rough exterior of he guy with the claw marks and all. :P
I guess the guy in the blue goggles is getting pretty used to helicopters then. Also, I don't like how the two female figure faces are so similar. It's essentially the same face with slightly different eyebrow positions.
Like the figures, bear is great, hut and helicopter bit sad, the previous twin rotor police chopper is much better, it's just a ugly, blocky build, and the winch location just weird, worst part is it may be better to buy the set and mod the chopper for a better look just, because the bear is just so good and will probably end up being expensive to purchase elsewhere
I'd rather see this set limited to the hut, the buggy, the bear and the two minifigs and priced at 25.00. The helicopter brings an unnecessary cost to the set and doesn't really feel like it belongs here. Are you going to chase the buggy in a helicopter? Lego has always been a pretty pricey toy but lately I'm hearing a lot more balking at their prices by parents in the toy aisles.
