LEGO City is becoming Speed Champions Junior? Cool car sets from the January 2024 wave! 

Some of these City cars definitely reach the quality of the old 6 studs wide Speed Champions car

If LEGO move towards printing more sets i'd totally accept a small increase in price. Prints > stickers

They're getting pretty close to being "Speed Champions Lite" or "Speed Champions Junior" and that's not a bad thing, they're all very nice cool sets. I've loved the Speed Champions theme for ages, but I feel it has had its value proposition severely diminished this year by the City sets in general, including the Space subthemed City sets. Stuff like the Rover Explorer and Interstellar Spaceship have overshadowed them somewhat. They are large, well designed and relatively cheap sets. Obviously tastes vary, and I've no doubt the build of the Speed Champions sets will be much cooler. But it's tough to say a single car is worth it at the new increased price of $27 these days. Heck even Bowser's Muscle Car set from the Super Mario theme is great value as well and somewhat strays pretty close to the Speed Champions scale, albeit still a bit too big.

My daughter races go kart so I got her the go kart set. Then we saw the race car and hauler on the clearance isle at Walmart had to get it for her. She really enjoyed the builds.

The burger truck is an awesome build. Very fun. The flatbed with car is a must have as well. Actually all of these are must haves.

I really like the direction in which lego city theme is going. And yes assembling the 60406, especially the race car really felt like speed champions and not city set.

I definitely wish that more of these 6 wide City trucks were built by default to accomodate 2 figures side by side.

Kinda love how Lego keeps releasing a food truck every year and other cars. My favorite was last year with the dump truck though

These are absolutely super cool

Recently saw the Burger truck in my nephews collection of sets and was really surprised to see only prints on it as I was sure they would be stickers. Nice to see prints on the Go kart set as well. Overall this is a pretty strong wave for city vehicles and great direction for the theme to go in. Really like the car carrier and colors used. Definitely may get some of these at some point.

Your read my mind! It's like a less intricate speed champions, which I think is a better direction for city than the 4+ looking sets as of late, considering that its a line that is much more for just kids

Those are nice sets, im more interested in the go cart and steamroller set. Im looking for smaller lego sets since i want to save some space. Ps the steamroller also only contains printed parts

that police car from the very last set is giving me Ford GT90 vibes, might have to pick it up just to make an all white and blue version to mimic that

All cool sets, but the karts are my favourite. I wish the 4+ race car had similar printed parts so we could build a third kart.

im telling you in a few short year's regular lego car's will be also shifting to the 8 stud wide format. it makes better looking car's and funner set possibilities. lego better introduce wide gauge trains too.

Btw i have burger truck And I only had paper bags in there And i have that new monster truck but i used it as base for my Camper MOC(btw i'm AFOL too(i'm 21)

I don’t know why but as a technic builder I think city has got to be at least twice as overpriced in comparison to technic which makes me grateful.

I might be mistaken but iirc the 4+ (previously junior) sets dlnever have stickers. The 5+ go karts and the 8+ burger truck having no stickers was unexpected and very welcome; I have both on their way. Aside from the go karts lego also released the banana peal piece this year... I hope this is a hint to Mario Kart sets xD

Sorry to spoil the enthusiasm again, but the "no stickers philosophy" still only apply to Duplo, 4+ and 5+ sets. This is not a fan service or an improvement for 2024, but an age rating thing similar to the nr. of building steps in instructions. It just looks like Lego improved the City theme, when in fact they only released smaller sets in this price category and age rating. Last year these spots were filled by the Stuntz motorcycles and sets which, you guessed it, were also all printed in the 4+ and 5+ line. So don't worry, everything is still same as before, cheap stickers for the win for the rest including 800$ UCS sets! :(

At this point I will write lego a letter saying that HEY whats the big idea this sets are pretty rusty and a bit trash yes its good for the racing style speed champions BUT THIS IS NOT LEGO CITY THIS LEGO SPEED CITY CHAMPIONS bruh they need to make CITY IF A CITY HAS VEHICLES IT NEEDS BUILDINGS BUILDINGS!
