LEGO City Update - Motorised Tram Monorail Extension MOC 60097 6399 🚊🚝🏹 

I’ve been watching this channel for a couple of months now (new subscriber) and I have to say this Lego city is without doubt the best I’ve seen. It is EXTREMELY impressive. The level of detail, the mini stories everywhere. The asymmetrical system, with layers and textures is just so so good. Well done Robin - brilliant job.

Fun fact: You actually can't fly into an airport area with most camera drones. Luckily, the drone guy won't get far.

If you spiral (in 90 degree angles) the stairs down, you could make a storage space underneath the stairs for the janitor. And then you have more useful free space to fill in.

I think having the straight piece as ending there is totally fine. You could say that the tram only runs all the way to the airport half the time which is why it would sometimes just end at the other station instead of doing the whole trip all the time. I love the look of the station by the airport too! Wonderful!

Make a “tram/passenger train surfer” (a guy that holds onto the back of the tram/train for a thrill ride)

Great extension, I’m not sure about the steep steps to the new station though. Maybe a staggered stairway or to show how dangerous it is a minifig tumbling down them! City is looking great

Bus driver looks like he coming off a week long bender. If u decide to use the double brackets u can put a walkway on the side that is empty so people can walk on it to repair track. U could hide the play feature by using a trash bin there instead and maybe put a guy there who is cleaning it out. That way there is a reason for it to be blocking the steps. And u can brace the pieces underneath with a 2x4 plate to help it a little also

I think the construction site is a great way to fill up empty space! It also makes Brick Nottingham feel more like a city. I can't wait for the next Manufacturing Monday!

The view from the train cam is very cool - especially coming from the second standing hall, there’s just so much details now that even if you look at it several times, there’s still more to see!

That looks very nice! Ever thought of using a fake tunnel as facade where traim/tram are going inside the wall? It might be somehow logical next to the airport. Also when I thought about the tunnel: you could "end" the straight side of the tram inside a fake tunnel going down in a fake underground (similar to how you made those fake metro entrances). Anyway looks already very nice!

You might be able to save some space with a lift "elevator" for the airport because its mean to have people hoof their baggage up the stairs....

YAY!! It is indeed an Airport Shuttle now!! I know you said a lot of work to do this Robin, but I'm so glad you did - makes it feel just that much more real. Nice job making it come across as very seamless indeed ;)

The compass with the amazing jumper really makes it! The other changes are wonderful additions!

Perhaps an elevator would be a good substitute for those steep stairs? You also could make the play feature at the top of the steps look like a turnstile that the minifigs have to swipe their card for before they can enter. Another small adjustment could be to make the speed bumps those black and yellow pieces you use on the monorail. Great video!

Very nicely done. Love the view from Tram cam as it comes up the last hill and you see the plane taking off / flying out the wall and then it turns and heads for the airport station. I like the idea of the coffee stand under the stair. It feels very appropriate catch people just off the plane / leaving the airport before they head up the stairs to the tram into town

Nice (expensive) Monorail system! Here’s a suggestion: you could add an advertisement over the Railroad crossing!

You should offset the tram station at the train station slightly to the straight section just before the points, so the tram can fully run through there, and then make the dead end a disused and abandoned line with some debris/plants

It would be cool to see the team cam pointed to one side or the other, like a passenger looking out at the city instead of a singleminded train conductor just staring at the track. 🤔

In the first backward run of the monorail cam you get a lovely view of the plane taking of! Especially when the tram goes down: it causes the camera to pan upwords!

My speed bump reminder payed out well. The taxi rank looks even more realistic! 😁 I was really excited for the monorail airport extension. The exposed play feature on the airport station could act as a turnstile for passengers. A funny suggestion from me is to place an exhausted minifigure climbing the stairs with heavy luggage 😆 Overall, this is a great way to connect public transport with the airport, as you can catch the train to the main station, transfer to the monorail and arrive at the airport. Can’t wait for Monday’s GBC MOC part 2! 😁👍🏹

Fantastic extension to the tram line. It looks great going over the train line and the construction on the line as well. keep up the great videos and as always thank you for sharing the videos and Brick Nottingham with all of us.

Does anyone els spend tram cam watching the standing holes for a rogue arm or leg? I just imagine robin setting the tram running then quickly ducking out of view hahaha

You could always build a whale tail statue where the apple tree grows to catch any derailing trams, it happened for real in the Netherlands recently.

To make the airport stations knob stick out less you could add a 1 by 4 plate on it to be like the poles you turn when you are entering a subway so you actually pay and it will make it look like the turntable is supposed to be there

Tram Cam is my favorite train view. I know you have implied train track going into the distance right next to the airport, but you should add more of the security fencing as a facade against the wall to imply the implied airplane wing is inside a secure area

Instead of having the big stairs up to the new stop, you could create a slim two-level shopping set up with a few kiosks - like a short stairs up to the coffee shop and a news stand, then a second short stair up to the stop itself. Just thinking of how airports are always surrounded by shops and food outlets!

Awesome video! I'd make the staircase to the new station a two part one (one flight down, a little landing, and then the rest of the way down), because irl there's a limit on how long flights of stairs have to be. Looking forward to Monday!

More monorail is great. The route network fits well with the post above the railway line. I hope my english is good enough for you to understand what i mean. It might be too much, but what if you took a wing as a support in front of the platform and the stairs as a post with an airport logo on it. That with the play feature on the platform is not bad, in my fantasy it is the garbage can from the cleaner. :-)

Awesome video Robin, I like all the amendments done to the airport so far, I really like the compass in the pavement even before adding the ornate tile. I just love your monorail setup, great utilization of space by building above other parts of your city. Only thing I maybe would do is move the coffee shop back a bit then maybe add some tables for minifigs to drink at as an idea. Awesome tram cam footage! Sorry for the delayed comment. You should make the monorail do a loop, have it make the left towards the airport and then a right and have the airport station on the other side. After the monorail leaves the airport station, it would turn toward the standing hole and then back toward the main station. If you get the switch working better, the monorail would be able to go both directions, alternating its direction each pass. Just a thought.

This new extension also enhances the feeling of the city being very dense- I do appreciate a lot those double-deck sections where the monorail goes above the train line. And that corner now really has a lot going on in a relatively narrow space, an airport gate, rail switch, contruction site, elevated monorail station.... Also, with the said station being so close to the wall, one can even imagine the monorail line actually going off into the distance, linking other areas of Brick nottingham beyond the wall.

Hey Robin, you should have the stairs at the airport station have a landing or two which turns the stairs round then round again. That would give more support to the station and avoid that precariously long set of steps! You could even integrate the steps into the coffee spot. Also the play feature kind of looks like a turn style. I like that!

It’s great how the extension has worked out! The lengths of the different monorail tracks are quite limiting for getting an ideal layout. Yours transport infrastructure is great!

Hi Robin, it probably does not matter at the moment as you will not use the switch as a switch anyway. But if you want to give it another try in the future: I used the WD 40 PTFE dry lubricant with great success to get some monorail switches working again. You have to really flood the inside with the lubricant (spray through all the openings there are) and then agitate the moveable parts for a minute or so while the WD 40 dries. You want to get lubricant everywhere inside. Repeat the process until you get smooth operation. Some lubricant on the surface under the moving track parts might also help. As you said the mechanism is quite complex and only works if there is as little friction as possible. The same process works for the direction switches, too.

like the Tram CAM.. would have been great to see how the train went around after your MODs, great work..

Best lubricant for plastic that will not damage it is just a small amount of vegetable oil. I used it for a plastic model of a working auto motor I built as a teenager. I recently used some on my rollercoaster car wheels as they were not rolling freely. Works better than new.

Yay! More monorail is always good 👍 I think you may have just about enough room for a teardrop shaped loop to run in front of the airport and back around to the main station. Means buying more track but go on, you know you want to 😉 [I’ve just finished filming more of my own monorail rides for my Mars Base so hopefully I’ll have another update on that soon]

If you do continue the strait track you could have it slope down and pretend it goes into a tunnel.

I think the stairs would look better as an elevator so it would be more practical for people to get their wheelie cases and luggage up to the station

Another excellent video! I really like the way you explain what you are doing and the background information on the parts. Maybe the branch line is just an old track or station. Just add eight long track. The construction crew and the crane with wrecking ball can move over to take it down.

If you could somehow make the tram at the end go in a full circle. That would be so cool! Because then you could have the track switch gears and I feel like that would be pretty cool. But I was just giving you the idea. You don’t have to do this, i was just giving you the thought.

I have some amendments. Extend the train station monorail platform beyond the overpass to the wall of the downtown diner. Also instead of having the no entry sign on the bitumen position it vertically like a fire hydrant

A glass platform with all around view for a sjght seeing attraction build with the support of the ending trac. City planers use what is there. Your City has Metro Flair, Thank you, Carola

I would extend the main monorail station forward towards you and add just one piece of track so the monorail can stop at that station.

Amazing as always. Why not raise the platform on your station so it overlaps the join on the junction and hides it. Then your station will be in use when it goes straight on too.

Hi Robin. Great as always perhaps 1 improvement if possible I would change the station to the other side of the stairs and the turnswitch as the tram will than run pass the station a little and creates the illusion that the track will go further into the rest of the city and also will show a little more of what is behind the tram line. But then again a MOC needs space too of course. Second thing/idea for when you built your train cargo yard perhaps you can do a similar track switch there creating the illiusion that the cargo yard was a little older before it became what it is now and put an old wear and tear train carrage with some green/brown wear and tear on it. You see those old half abandoned yards anywhere so maybe you have just a small one in brick notthingham (and who doesn't want to live there) anyway great video again keep up the good work in inspiring me but I need to safe up further for more lego parts first..

Good Job, a Monorail at an Airport is really realistic, for example the Airport Frankfurt/Main has also some kind of Monorail between two Terminals, Maybe you could build the Monorail at the Switch in the other direction to this part of your City, and I really love these 1X4 printed tiles which you used to connect the Monorail Tracks!

Sometime in the near future I thing it would be cool if you added and other stop piece to make it stop if it goes strait and the station have the station be longer to line up with the station stop cus it’s the big transfer station

The switch on the stations should really be a 2x2 square tile and not round. Otherwise, you can't turn them easily.

Take the track out to the edge of the table and have non motorized tram there. I know it's a lot but I think it's going to be worth it.

Why not turn the whole thing into a loop?

Maybe move the stairs 2 or even 3 studs to the right to get more space for the coffeechain hut

I've been waiting for this, but I have a few amendments(that's how you spell it, right?) -The new train station looks a bit under-supported I think, another pillar won't hurt - You also forgot your trans-blue ticket scanner, like you have at the entrance of the train station-station Anyways, looks great. I'm not disappointed, at all!

I didnt get a badoing for the compass modification. I am devastated.. LOL As usual great video.
