My first set! It used to be my dad's. My grandma sent it to me one day when I was younger and so my Dad and I built it together again. I had so many adventures with those minifigures, I love this set

You could re-position the one police brick on the bike to be on the front in front of the handle bars so it doesn't look awkward and a little more accurate. Great review jang!

I still got this set from my youth. The first thing i did was removing the top building and using it as remote station with the helikopter on the ground.

I would use this as a police checkpoint or vehicle inspection building. But that's my opinion. It's a great blast from the past though.

Just wanted to say that this was my first Lego set back in 1980. I noticed the font was wrong on the Police sign as I just found most of the set pieces for this last weekend in a pile of old things. Unfortunately no baseplate though :-( This was the set that got me into Lego, along with a couple of classic space sets. Nostalgia is heavy with this one :-)

You're very fortunate to have the original instructions in such good shape as it is. I'll admit, I'm a bit jealous. This was one of the very early sets that I ended up getting, I still have it in fact. (don't know condition of my instructions though)

This set was 1979 not 78 i have a book about the history of the minifigure and that hair was first introduced in 1979

I think that it is because it is usually copyrighted and the first winter sets are released a month or two before the new year

Great review! I think it was probably '79 also. This was the first set I can remember having and I would have been two years old in '79, quite young to start playing with regular Lego. In '78 I would have been only one year old which would have been too young. The clear plastic garage doors stuck in the memory, they seemed so different from the other pieces.
