I have realized a 3D model for Unreal Engine, if you want to see... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Euk8D5Irzeo.html

Hi, missed you comment earlier as it didn't show in the default filtering of youtube studio. This model is so cool! I love the flickering lights!

Those are some highly unusual building techniques and exotic pieces for classic LEGO! I can't believe they brick-built the ship (using offset plates no less), I assumed it was one of those massive hull pieces. Meanwhile the DOCK is made of single purpose-made plates. Very interesting model!

Indeed, the techniques are really nice for this era, nice amount and general selection of pieces, a lot of play options as well. The large pieces do have the advantage of raising the whole thing to give that dock feeling though less usable for other purposes. wonder how this set would look after a 2024 makeover without some of the large pieces🤔

I think there's some appeal to the old LEGO System set. LEGO set that comes out today is beautiful...but I have a feeling that it is well too "polished" to be made into sth else. Old Lego sets encouraged creativity. Yeah....they did give outline as to what to do, but I never felt required to stick to the given design. My cousin and I spent countless hours "redesigning" ships, houses and spaceships that were drastically different from the given design. I find it more challenging with LEGO city sets nowadays.

I get the feeling, my thoughts about that was that with the limited amount of piece types you would probably get a rough looking thing quite quickly, say a house but it will lack detail, while with all the modern detail pieces you can create stunning things but it just isn't as easy, and since there are more varietes you would probably have less of the base bricks to start with (though I didn't really do a fact based study on this...).

I got this MISB set in 2019. Just so great!

Wow!!! Out of curiosity, did you keep it sealed or did you build it, I often wonder what happens with such misb sets…

@@BasRobin I started to buy back new vintage legos since mid 2015. My collection is nearly finished. Just a few normal vintage sets away from my wishlist.

Indeed a bit expensive, piece count is quite big for its age and it contains some rare pieces like the weighted brick and white beams (like for the radar pole)

Isn't this a rare set?

I would say they are indeed a bit harder to find, mostly a reasonable one, missing pieces, bad condition, etc... and that for a reasonable price, typically there are some for sale on Bricklink if you don’t mind the price too much.
