Wow, I'm simply impressed by amount of detail in this set. I never had any of the 80's sets (I was born in '93), but to me they look rather simple. That one is great! I want to have this so much.

Wait a minute. That stretcher wheel piece. We have it today and it is still using the old hinge system! Wow, i thought that system was long gone. I really love sets like this one. No police department stickers, no firefighter, no ambulance, it's just a plain ol' thing owned by a regular townsfolk.

This alongwth 1986 airport were the sets I craved for but could never have bcz I left USA just b4 these sets were released. I saw them as new ones in catalog that I got with big Legoland cargo set that I had purchased in New Jersey Toys r us. This was the best ever era of Lego. The Police set of this era was perfect too. These were the first sets in which they introduced white wheel hubs (earlier they used red which didn't make sense at all), proper stand piece for helicopters, flat light pieces and lots of specialized but g8 utility parts from airport set.

This set is awesome! I love the look of classic LEGO sets, but this one is especially good because of its functions (Opening hood? They don't even do that in modern sets!) and awesome details. The boat motor tho is my most favorite aspect since LEGO sets often come with really weirdly designed boat motors.

17 I think the outift on him was supposed to be a red wetsuit. That would explain why it had no print and had the same color from torso to legs.

This was my 2nd LEGO set (first being a real little space set) I took this set everywhere and would build many things like helicopters and cars. Thanks for the fond memories! I think Im going to have rebuild it. Thanks Jangbricks! Keep up the good work! Love the 80's set reviews!

Oddly enough I have this exact set. I thought it was just the SUV until I saw that you have a completed. Makes me wonder if I should try and locate the rest of the set later on.

This set actually had this old-style helmet. And they had these helmets in most of the 1987 year sets as well.

I had this set when I was a kid, and I remember it having the old helmet. I didn't like the old helmet, because the new helmet had the vizier.

At first I was, 'why did Jang put the figure on a square base plate?' Till you explained they were flippers. I had no idea Lego touched on scuba diving in those years, till now. These days, Lego has proper flipper pieces, though no idea when they first started being made. The trailer a boat is almost exactly the same as with set 6388 Holiday Home with Caravan, that came out three years later, and I ended up getting. Its sets like these that I really like because of the little bit of extra detail given to them.

I still like a lot the simplicity and flexibility of the Town era sets. Modern City seem less sturdy, expensive and less easy to modify than Town

Kyle Soler I think Noreen meant that if you were to mix 1980s and current Lego parts, there may be a noticeable difference in some of the colours :)
