This video really puts the nail in the coffin, your videos are too short! Go into more detail, talk about the build, talk about the little things that you thought were fun or surprising, but 5 minutes for a 100 dollar set, almost 1 minute of which was intro, CMON MAN
Is it just me or is it so satisfying when Lego actually puts care and thought behind the design of a set.. the unique and innovative building techniques coupled with tons of cool/hidden features and zero stickers that all come together to make an absolute beaut of a set. If they put that same time and effort into all Lego Star Wars sets I’d never complain again lol
I have a question for you, lego brit. How much traffic to your channel do you believe is from comments and how much is by people discovering your channel through recommendations.
I missed out on the original set by a few years in the 80's, but one of my friends had it from his older brother, so I did get to build it in about 1986. It was always my favorite even though I had a lot of the later Space Lego sets.
My 13 year old son just bought this today with his Christmas money and has been working on it for 4 hours and already half way done. He's so excited because this is his first 18+ non Star Wars lego set. He's been eyeing this one for months now and finally got it.
Never had the original but did start with later Classic Space sets. Normally buy DC and Star Wars sets, but this year I’m excited for sets outside those themes, in particular the Optimus Prime set and this one. Can’t wait to get my hands on this set!
Growing up int he 80s the original 497 was my favorite set. I left for college and my mother gave away all my Lego sets. I am so happy to see this set come back. I just so happened to have the moon base plate I bough at a lego shop years ago. Can't wait for it arrive.
I LOVE THIS SET. I got into lego recently thanks to my lovely boyfriend. I enjoy your videos so much because I can tell you're passionate about the technique of the lego pieces, and how much you appreciate the vibe each set gives. I enjoy every video you post! Keep it up!😊
I've been eyeing this one for awhile, having owned the original from 1979. I recently saw both built and on display at a local store. That was really cool to see them both side by side. This review sealed the deal for me
Tbh I'm kind of sick of Lego star wars. It's so expensive right now (I'm pissed about the cad bane ship price). I think other themes are so much better right now like castle
I remember me as a kid negging to my parents for the og version of this set. Never got it: it was too expensive. Yes back in the days kids were taught the value of money. Ofcourse I will totaly ignore those lessons and buy it, because nostalgy.
LOL, same here - also I was 4 in 1979 and by the time I started getting into Space Lego in about 1983 it wasn't available anymore even if my parents had been able to afford it. I had a friend with an older brother who had it though and always lusted after it.
@@Beer_Dad1975 i could affort the smallest of the 3. 25 guilder it was. But even then my parents said to wait, because it was all of my savings. And then they were retired. Well had plenty other space stuff, like the rocket launch stationnor whatever it was called.
@@legomattie3295 Yup, for me Lego was my Christmas present every year for a number of years I'd get one big set each year - I had the rocket station too - and the big rover that also had a rocket launcher arm on it - and not long before I started growing out of playing like that, I got the 3 part ship, the one with the double cockpit upfront - so I had a fair amount. Actually I still have all of it - or at least my kids do, but it's in an enormous sack with all the other sets they've finished playing with now they are in their teens too. I really should go through and sort them out back into set again, but there is probably 10,000 or more bricks in that sack so it might have to wait until I retire! :-)
@@legomattie3295 These days I have Star Wars lego - the problem I have now is I'm running out of room to hold it all. Still going to get this set and put it on display somehow though :-)
I received the original for Christmas from my mom and dad back in the early 80s and I LOVED that set. This is triggering big-time memberberries for me. Only downside I can see is that it doesn't come with the landing pad/monitoring station like the original set. Otherwise, awesome.
I was a little kid in the early 80s and my favorite toys were my Kenner Star Wars and LEGO Space. This set hits that nostalgia feeling really hard. I'm so happy LEGO made it even though it didn't win the fan vote. I had mine pre-ordered the first day it was available. Can't wait to display it with my vintage Space sets, especially the original Galaxy Explorer!
Amazing set. A great model for the anniversary and truly a LEGO masterpiece! The build of bags 1-4 is kinda monotonous (endoskeleton) but after that it's great fun. My only complaint is that it's size and retro-modern look is a bit out of place with my OG Classic Space (yes, I'm old and still have sets from my childhood).
It only _just_ occurred to me that the wings being 5 plates thick is _also_ roughly 1.5x the thickness of the original 3-plate-thick wings. I wonder if that part is also intentional, or if the wings technique was _why_ they decided on the 1.5x scale?
This set is just fun. So many features, looks great, no stickers all prints. I will definitely have to see the alternate models and if they're good I'll definitely have to attempt to grab 3 of this set. Also this set just shows LEGO can still make a great set with an amazing price and have 0 stickers.
This is way better than the bad batch shuttle or any other 100$ SW set, at first, for me, if a set wasn't sw, i wouldn't care about the set but now i just realized how good other themes are and how better the value is, love this set, def top 3 in my collection
Thank you David. I really was looking forward to this review. Well done! I'll try getting it at the store on launch day or else online. Hope all is well!
The box wasn’t enticing for me to buy until I saw a video on it. Love how there is no stickers whatsoever and love the back where you can store the rover.
This set looks seriously amazing. Star Wars sets are also my main buys, but I'll be trying to get this one before anything else. All of the printed pieces are a huge plus.
I still got most of my classic space lego from the late 70's. I want to get 2 of these so I can build one of the alternative builds too. There was 3 different sizes of the "Explorer" in the 70/80's I had none of them but I did have the White Freighter and the white mobile radar station that came later and they were both awesome sets too.
@Solid Bricks Studios, I love your reviews, but as some constructive criticism, I think you should look up the word "are". I've never once heard you use it in your videos, you always use "is" and it's off-putting to listen to: "There is five minifigures in this set", "There is so many stickers", and so on. Other than that, love the content, keep it up!
I wanted to buy Sanctum Sanctorum, but it has some little problems for me. But this set seems to be perfect, like without a doubt, i'm buying this one instead of Sanctum for sure
Not sure why you'd get this when the Space Shuttle Discovery and Hubble set is still on shelves. This is a cool throwback, but Discovery is the far better set overall.
It might appeal to those who bought bennys space ship. It will appeal to those like me who owned the original in 1979. Most fans regardless have their favourite themes and don't care about what's beyond. New comers will go for what they think is interesting.
