My great ball contraption (GBC) module using 6-axis (6DOF) robot arm. Lego Mindstorms EV3 is used to control the robot.

Next thing you know, an AI version of this arm is going to be running around a track on the inside of the next GLBC, using some fancy tracking to fix stuck balls and oversee all the other lower tier machines like their loving robot arm overlord.

Amazing. I have been planning to build this with RCX that time. Bought 6 rotation sensors with long cables, but was then discouraged by their accuracy (signal jumps) and the difficulty of buiding a compact and strong hand. Respect towards your solution, nice workaround with Pneumatics for the 7th degree powering the tool.

Amazing stuff.. Shows us how good Lego tech has become since the Electronic programmable unit and timers etc. have been included in the Lego list of parts? The closest I ever got to this was simple controlled old style Lego motors and battery boxes and Pneumatic's back long ago. Like comparing stone age tools to Modern ones!

It's only a few years until lego can make more lego and the singularity is complete, and if this isn't proof I dunno what is. (seriously amazing, having used mindstorms I know how much of a pain it is to work with, can't imagine how long it took to get this thing working...)

Dear Akijuki-san, This is really an engineering masterpiece. I have a few questions which I hope you could help me with. 1. To start with, I don't own Mindstorms sets, but only Lego Technics. However, I have connected my Lego motors with Arduino and I can control them just fine via MQTT or Bluetooth commands. 2. Do you write programs to solve inverse/forward kinematics to move your robots? I mean, is this how you can achieve the smooth movement of your model? 3. If you are indeed writing reverse kinematics code, do you need the EV3 motors specifically to make it work or can I use my Technics motors? I know the EV3 motors have an embedded rotation sensor, so my question is if this is mandatory to move the arm accurately with the use of kinematics.

Lego Group should really create an Akiyuki/ GBC Lego technic collection, based on the Lego Ideas model. Of course Akiyuki (or any GBC author) would get a part of the selling price. I bet everything this would be a massive success and it would change from the Technic cars we get each year.
@fernandolegogbc7223
@fernandolegogbc7223 4 года назад
A good idea that you don't think Lego Group promotes goes. He doesn't even sell us balls, let's say nothing about power supplies and soon there will be no PF motors. I hope there are at least adapters between the PowerUP engines and the regulators of the yellow drive trains.

Damn this is to cool! Was it made from parts of the Technic Liebherr (42100)?
@donovanellis1533
@donovanellis1533 4 года назад
I can answer that for you. For the most part, no. This uses lots of parts not found in 42100, such as pneumatics, shock absorbers, and the Lego mindstorms system (perhaps your'e confusing that with the relatively new Control+ system the 42100 uses?). But if you look closely at 3:40, you'll notice that the servo motor operating the pneumatic valve in the lower left of the screen does so through the clutch piece introduced in 42100, if perhaps that's what your'e asking about.
