I honestly am super curious what the hell happened in the past that drove Wukong to kill Macaque. Something may or may not have happened that Macaque forgot or isn't aware of.
@@minyoongianne okay so basically long story shor in the book of jttw macaque pretened to be wukong hurt the monk then wukong and macaque argued and in the end macaque was killed out of wukongs blind raged
I just realized that at 3:24 there's a flash of Wukong instead of MK. MK attacking Macaque like that gave him flashbacks to Wukong killing him. That might be what really prompted the "you're just that bit too much like him" line.
@@nesquik1640 I guess that either goes with the theory that the Lady Bone Demon manipulated Macaque's memories, or it's her power from his revival that allowed him to catch it
@@haikishadowkings nah. it has nothing to do with her power considering hes as strong as wukong and has all his powers it just symbolizes him being brought back to life
It's like watching a divorced couple, who kind of hate each other and want to make the others life miserable but clearly also want to get back together, fight for custody of their child.
I'd like to point out that in JttW the Six Eared Macaque was ALREADY as powerful as Wukong. He had ALL of Wukong's techniques and skills with the exception of the near-dozen layers of immortality.
@@Ryutobi That isn't actually true, in the novel they were on equal footing. And Wukong, while seeming fairly lazy, was really proactive about most things. Zhu Bajie was the lazy one.
I like to think that Macaque did all that (tricking MK to get Wukong's powers) because he had just been brought back by LBD and death must have drained him of a lot of power
This is a theory, but I believe that the rift between Wukong and Macaque maybe do to some sort of misunderstanding. Cause Wukong seems to act like he never killed Macaque at all and just assumes that he’s just being trolled by Macaque. And Macaque is convinced that Wukong betrayed him despite the fact that he keeps acting like a villain instead of a victim. Perhaps someone manipulated the two into thinking one betrayed the other for a more sinister purpose.
Maybe because in this universe sun wukong didn't intend to outright kill him probably just hurt him bad enough he'd lay off. I think he was very angry when it happened and as shown in he amnesia episode younger wukong was a lot less patient and quick to assume and also v protective of his master, so maybe he didn't realise it was macaque and doesn't know he killed him and macaque believes he does know and is just a jerk
@@banheezone yea in the original story they fought across the celestial realm and he basically caught macaque off gaurd and killed him when he found out macaque was impersonating him
I remember a version where wukong, instead of killing him, went to Buddah and got rid of him through Buddah. Ofc he lived then in some kind of rehabilitation process by the lotus goddesses if i still remember correctly (since its a long time i have ever watched jttw)
In my opinion, I don't really ship them romantically (i'm not trashing this ship, you guys are entitled to your own opinions and I will respect that) I just can't personally see them like that. I think they're more like brothers (or ex friends) who hate each other, but over time get a little closer even if they're still bitter. It's still an interesting dynamic either way though.
@@sleepynlazy3705 Thanks, I just think that if people don't necessarily ship a couple of characters, they should say so respectfully and not try to insult the ship and the shippers just because they don't like the ship. I personally think that logic is very stupid.
i honestly can’t tell how i should read them cause they’re sword brothers but also of my most generic, favorite media trope is “friends>enemies>lovers” so i’m biased 😭😭
@@banana_walter_ I guess I can understand. I'm a sucker for the betrayal trope though. There's just something so captivating about the reaction of the protagonists and how the person (or people) that betray them will now act. Will the protagonist(s) still care about them? Will they hate them? So honestly, it doesn't really matter and you're entitled to your own opinion.
The fascinated thing about Sun Wukong and Six-Eared Macaque is that they're two of four. There are two other Spiritual Primates like them, the Red Babboon and Long-Armed Gibbon, both of them almost as powerful as Sun Wukong. So the four of them are practically siblings.
3:24 I love how for a split second MK looks like Wukong, showing that Macaque is having a flashback to when he was killed my Wukong. It’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment, but I love how well through this we not only get to see how Wukong killed Macaque, but Macaque learning from the past and perfectly blocking the blow. Plus the comment “you’re a little too much like him”
Wukong is the goofy dad that's trying his best but has no idea what he's doing. Macaque is the cool uncle who is clearly a bad example but wants to show up his older brother.
I actually got to read a good translation of most of the Journey To The West novel. So the first time we see and learn about the six eared macaque is when he impersonates monkey king and gets killed after budha reveals the truth. Turns out the six eared macaque is just as strong as monkey king (just not 5 times immortal) and can listen and hear anything from the past present and future and is one of 6 other celestial monkeys. Though I do like this version cause it means that macaque was part of monkey kings original monkey army before he joined the celestials in the celestial realm
It's brotherly tbh, a few friends of mine are Chinese natives and like the show and original myth and it's brotherly bond. They actually find it insensitive to ship them haha
Listen casting Sean Schemmel as Wukong is absurdly funny to me how Goku is inspired by the monkey king Now I can't imagine Wukong without thinking of Goku
Well, the Japanese name of Sun Wukong is Son Goku. It appears Toriyama not only took inspiration but literally named his manga protagonist after Monkey King xD
0:20 *"Kid ur grounded"* 0:29 So he was aware he was casting him in a shadow? Cool. Though I do love how Macaque is obviously putting an attempt to aggravate him, pure sibling behavior 3:56 Dam, he sounds more excited to see his bro than I ever did 💀 4:03 ROASTED HAHAHA 4:23 DAMMM MY GUY AT THIS POINT IS BURNINF HIS OWN BRO ALIVE WITH THESE ROASTS LMFAO 5:02 oh ye? How little is that favor exactly? 5:06 This is my bro when he wants smth from me 5:21 Bro, just go to therapy or something 5:41 ok someone please make some sort of compilation for every time Monkie King roasts Maquak 6:45, goddammit, he's angry 6:39 Why did my heart nearly break for a second there 😭 like I saw genuine fear or some shit in Macaque 6:52 Sun better be taking notes (no offense to him if he didn't mean to cast Maquack away) 6:58 I'm replaying this walk... it's therapy 7:13 UNCLE MACBOOK TO THE RESCUE LEGOOO 7:33 ROBOTS IN DJSGUISE- 7:39 Oof, that gotta hurt, welp sucks for him 7:54: Oml, this is like when siblings fight over who their parents favor more but reverse it all 8:11 as an accelerated English student that is the proper way to spell "Ded" 8:15 These two really ain't fooling shit- 8:26 Bai 8:29 Yeaaaa, these two are definitely siblings 8:35 adorable
This is my first time seeing something from this show and the vibe I’m getting is this: The kid next door got caught up in the sibling drama and is now a sibling
I refuse to be live there is only 8 minutes of shadowpeach in this whole show. If they don't either get married, or be on screen together for 99℅ of the show, I'm either gonna sue or die
Ive never seen this show. Thats the voice actor for goku and i love that he took this role as son wukong being that his previous roles name is son goku named after son wukong its come full circle and i love it
I'm not gonna lie, I honestly thought that "shadowpeach" was a nickname for his powers (ex: when he tells the story of the hero and the warrior) for half of the video. And, I have not seen the show, so I was like, 'where's all the moments of him using his powers?' Til I came to the comments... XD I didn't realize that it was a ship name for them, and honestly, I think it's more of a brotherhood relationship, although I can see where you guys are coming from. It's awesome.
Shoto Todoroki: Are you two really twins or brothers? 8:14 Monkey King/Six-Eared Macaque: I'M NOTHING LIKE HIM! Deku: Forgive Shoto, guys. He kept asking me that I'm All Might's son, which I'm *not!* Shoto Todoroki: (Shrugged)
My heart is like in love with this ship even tho I don’t see it (I just finished Macaque’s intro episode so maybe I’ll see it soon) I just see them as brothers
Mk saying "No, Mei is my best friend, I never abandon her when she needs me" and Mac and Wukong look at each others is just- I thought Wukonh abandoned Mac BUT NOW I CAN STOP THINKING IS MAC WHO ABANDONED WUKONG IN THE MOUNTAIN
macaque called wukong beautiful cuz he said "tú eres una linda joya" which in this case means "you are such a gem" but "linda" means "beautiful" so IT'S BASICALLY "you are such a beautiful gem" LIKE- HEY CAN ANYONE HEAR ME- HELLO????
I just noticed that when Macaque stole MK's power he doesn't fall while fighting with Monkey King (0:41) But when Macaque has his normal powers he ends up on falling his back (7:18) There's also this moment when Wukong got pushed on his back by Macaque (4:34), but I'm pretty sure It's because he was way weaker than normally, and wasn't ready for this attack
5:14 See, that's the sad and overlooked part. I relate to Wukong a lot. Means well but actions always unclear. But hey, at least he and Macaque are on talking term and sorta friends again.
I don't see them as a romantic ship in my opinion, But it's your opinion that you see them as a romantic pair. I personally think that they're brothers or ex-friends.
Well, Macaque and Wu Kong are technically twin. They came from the same rock that split into two and gave birth to them. So they have the same fate lind and same potential. Although Macaque actually have way more potential than Wu Kong. His six ears allowed him to heard, know and understand everything from heaven, hell, earth just by standing in one place. He learn all of Wu Kong magical skill by just listening without a real master to teach him and manage to equally as strong as Wu Kong. Wu Kong can't win against Macaque in the original, he has to asked Buddha for help to capture Macaque with the Golden Bowl to be able to killed him.
Well, idk if you're talking about an adaptation of Journey to the West in particular but Macaque doesn't come from Wukong egg and that is certain. We have Wukong entire backstory in the first chapters of JTTW and it is never said at any points that another monkeys came from his rock egg. Wukong was born alone and the rock egg is never mentioned after his birth, probably destroyed by the birth itself. The Six-eared Macaque only appear in three chapters, he's a villain of the week that tries to hijack Wukong's journey by taking he's appearances and trying to take his place. The only one who can differiencate between Wukong and Macaque (when Macaque is dusiguised as Wukong) is Buddha. Buddha casually drop the four celestial monkeys lore and expose Macaque after a long fight, Wukong has never heard of the Six-eared Macaque before this. Everything beyond those facts are interpretations. It's interesting bc there are a lot of interpretations regarding the Six-eared Macaque, the most known interpretation is that he represents Wukong evil side, thus Wukong victory over him is in fact his own victory over his evil side. But the Six-eared Macaque is never mentioned as Wukong twin, in fact this view of the character, I think, stems from one of the interpretation of the Six-eared Macaque (the one I was talking about, Macaque being a dark reflection of Wukong) If you want to see them as brother or twins you totally can 😊 it's a rather cute headcanon, but remember that it's only that, a headcanon
Does anyone get chills when he rips his hair out like that, or is it just me? Yo it sounds painful TvT. I know it might seem normal to him but damnnnnnn dude. TvT
I haven't even watched the show but I can see their rivalry tension with each other like Sonic and Shadow was, but more violent and unpredictably action-packed at some unconvinient times of the day.😅
you guys notice the parallel from the final scene where macaque says “see ya around MK..” the goes into a portal, same way in the argument in s4 and Wukong still reacts as; GAAHH!! ( 8:25 )
0:58 , 7:11 HMMMMMMMMMMM its almost like theyre putting in max effort and swapping places (macaque blocking wukongs lasers and wukong blocking macaques punch)
Okay, but like Macaque says 'those who bring light inevitably bring darkness to those they hold dear' which basically means WUKONG holding MACAQUE dear, no?
