The LEGO Star Wars 2021 Imperial TIE Fighter (75300) is essentially a LEGO TIE Fighter on a budget... and it's GOOD! For $40 it's nearly half the price of the last LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter but it feels like it's still got it where it counts! The figure selection is somewhat bland but certainly adequate with a TIE Pilot, Stormtrooper, & NI-L8. The new 2021 TIE Fighter set has a couple inaccuracies but I think you may find it surprisingly fun (and a great value). I certainly did.

I have the 4+ Tie Fighter and I changed the two guns with green studs. I kinda hate the back and its really good. I might get this new Tie Fighter with the new X-Wing. So yeah.

@@Kobe.T I agree, in the past I never bought original trilogy starfighters because of the price. Considering prequel ships could be 25-40 dollars, it was never worth it to get an 80 dollar TIE fighter or X-Wing. I’m really glad they’re bringing down the price of these iconic ships while still making them look good

@@Kobe.T I like the idea of them keeping smaller sets on the shelves for a while, but then every few years coming back and remaking the big set, leaving both out at the same time, so people who want the bigger version can get it but people who want the cheaper option can get the smaller set

The laser cannons themselves on the TIE actually are red. The laser blasts that they produce are green.

I love how they are pushing these boundaries. I want something to display, but don't want to spend $100+ on a set. $40 makes me more likely to try different sets and keep coming back.

This is the closest Lego's ever come to accurately capturing the TIE's sleek, iconic ball shape. They've just never been good at it, and even the 2018 one couldn't do that. And the way the wings are integrated, gosh the new one just looks so much more graceful. It's crazy to me how ungainly the last one suddenly feels. The dark grey hinges bug me too. It's not done out of laziness though, it's so little kids don't get frustrated when they can't find those pieces blending in with the lighter ones.

Fantastic comment Nick. You captured the way I feel about this set. I hope this new scale works better with ships like the Razorcrest and the falcon. The scale of lego star wars vehicles has frustrated me since I was a kid when an X-wing wingspan is about as wide as a falcon playset.

Yes! The grey connection from the cockpit to the wings are so accurate! The start with being thick and then become more and more thinner until the get bigger in the part that connect the structure with the wing in a way not even the 2018 one did. And also, If you haven't noticed, it's minifigure scale

The perfect in between solution for the laser bolts would be to make them dual molded. The tip that shows on the ship is red then the rest of the bolt is translucent green. Like this it could fit all scenarios

This tie fighter isn’t bad. The proportions aren’t perfect, but it’s 40 dollars. This really feels like a LEGO tie fighter, which to me gives it a nice charm.

I'd have to say yes this is worth it. I've missed all the previous TIEs which were expensive as hell so this is an ideal option in my opinion. Especially since in Star Wars the TIEs are not that big to begin with so making it smaller isn't a dealbreaker for me.

the tie fighter is beautiful, far better than I expected from the rumours. perhaps the cockpit could be modded to be slightly less bulky, and also cover up the gaps around the shooters at the back but otherwise it looks great

You are indeed right on one thing. I’m one of the few who likes the new helmet. It’s my favorite personally, my main issue with the 2014 one was how it was more prone to misprints. Almost all of those helmets I got in my Death Star had crooked or off-center prints

I don’t agree. And I think it would be a bad move financially. There’s a reason we only got one BFII set and 2 battlefront inspired battle packs. But I think squadrons is the reason they’re doing this. They had some inside info that a Star Wars OT Dogfight game was coming so they decided to make these. There would be a lot of demand for them after the game came out. When I played BFII, I got really attached to the prequels and I really wanted an MTT. That was a missed opportunity by LEGO.

@laporte studios it's a good build, but we literally got one 2 years ago. I think it wouldve been justified if they made it Vanguard squadron colors and included some of the pilots from the game. (Gunny and frisk would be cool, and maybe Lindon as the third minifigure)

@@thatsruffdog the difference is, X-Wings and TIE Fighters are universal in that they appear in everything, unlike Inferno Squad or the BF1 packs. You don’t have to be a fan of Squadrons to appreciate a different-colored X-Wing, and most kids won’t really care.

I knew that this set was good ever since the leaked pictures were revealed. I love how compatible it is with bigger ships that LEGO has made like the Razor Crest or the Millennium Falcon. The set is not extremely big and expensive like the 2015 and 2018 ones. Also, LEGO got the laser color right! Only thing I would have LEGO do differently is to make the spring-loaded shooters dual-molded, so the front can be red and the rest can be green. That is how it looks in the movies. It is a great army builder set. No named figures like the Imperial Shuttle. (75302) I like how they added a unique figure (NI-L8) to this set. I hope that they do more of that in the summer wave of sets. This set is so good that I am considering getting it twice to make a TIE Interceptor

It almost looks like the tie fighter that standout in episode 6 when there's a bunch of tie fighters flying around when the emperor arrives to the second death star there's a very round and small tiefighter in the background.

I just noticed today that the Tie Dagger (or Sith Tie Fighter) set also has the hatch flipped compared to where the black lines should be on all previous models. Not sure if this is correct for this specific ship based on the actual model design but it's just interesting.

I really appreciate the trend of smaller, cheaper sets, especially for vehicles that should be massable like TIE fighters. I loved the Solo TIE fighter, but it feels so GIGANTIC compared to the tiny little minifigures, and it's a problem a ton of Lego Star Wars vehicles have. This TIE fighter actually feels like it's to scale with the minifigs. It's like it's a minifig of a TIE fighter, with slightly different proportions, but in a good way.

The red is actually accurate - the gun barrels on the TIE Fighter do in fact glow red, but shoot off green bolts, so it's really just a choice between being accurate when loaded, or being accurate when shot

I just picked this up and I’m really happy with it as it’s my first ever Lego TIE fighter, and I intend to pic up at least one more to repurpose into an Interceptor!

I really want the Lieutenant from the UCS Star Destroyer to be released in more sets. Those guys are supposed to everywhere in the Empire so it's annoying having him exclusive to the second most expensive set. Would have been perfect in this set.

Just got this for my 8 year old nephew for Christmas. I think he is going to love it! For a budget friendly Lego Tie Fighter, it looks great.

Lego and retailers will find out that this price point is a sweet spot for army building sets. Collectible figures sell for about the same. And people army build those. Be it GI Joes or Transformers. Army building Tie Fighters or X wings at this price point is a lot more done than over 60. Facts of marketing.

Great build and pricing. Wings are a tad too small relative to the cockpit for me, but without someone’s hands there to dwarf the wings, it looks fantastic and is probably very “swooshable.” Not the biggest fan of the cockpit interior, but that’s what happens when you streamline for price. Getting tired of lego Vader being the boxart label for everything that isn’t mandalorian- it’s been like this for 3 years(?) now. Miss the old style of rotating actual character art every year. 2013-2014 lego Star Wars is probably going to be the prime age for a long time.

That is the thing. Best price/model ratio there is. And lego did great with taking the budget and making it look that good. Same for the X wing and the Slave I. The only ship that is suffering is the Lambda shuttle.

I just got back into LEGO in January of this year so I’m glad I’m able to get a tie fighter and x wing so soon after the other ones but the size is disappointing

I have my legos hanging from the ceiling and the solo tie looks a bit ridiculous next to other ships like the shuttle. This is perfect imo

I bought this today and I love it I’ve always wanted to get another tie fighter, I owned one with blue trimming when I was younger. I agree they should keep this on run for a while
