So many of the new faces look so bad. I love having two faces on each head, but quantity doesn't beat quality. Leia here is a great example: I would rather have the lips than that horrible smirk.

I don't have an opinion of which is best, but I think mine is the 2009 model, 10198. Because I own it already :) And I loved building and displaying it.

The 2001 kit is fantastic, especially considering the age of the design, it has a few scale issues but it still looks great and was incredibly well designed for the time. Overall I’d probably pick the most recent one (need to see it in the bricks), but I still think the 2001 version is great in the history of Lego Star Wars kits.

The 01 set seems to be proportioned more like the CR70 featured in Ep 3...which is shorter and stubbier than the CR90 ( the actual Tantive IV)

I think the one thing the 2009 model has over all the others is the use of printed transparent pieces for the cockpit. Making the "cones" transparent but printing over them so that the front visor is see-through is really clever in my opinion. You can look in and the minifigures can look out.

I prefer stickers over printing when it comes to clear parts. The coloration on printed clear parts always looks garbage.

Same thing happened to me at a yard sale. Got like 4 unopened sets all for 30 bucks. At first I thought they were knock offs because the boxes looked weird but then after doing some research it turned out they were legit

Thanks for the video. I've been considering whether to buy the 2019 version, and I'm sold. I'm glad that the proportions are finally correct. That was the one things that stopped me from buying the previous two releases (although the UCS one is a fantastic model in its own right).

Honestly the UCS looks like wasted potential it is so big you could have more mini figure stuff and imagine it with micro figures because it might make a accurate interior and micro figures are revolution for making big ships

The reason Lego made the 2019 tantive with a stickered cockpit is because the 2009 one was transparent and gave it a lighter look which was not consistent with the other parts of the cockpit. Also I've realized to solve this problem Lego could've printed over the white cockpit. Anyway, great video sorry for the long comment.

I think it is the fake Lepin version. The elastic bands are the wrong colour and there is no sticker on the radar dish.

Sturmwind You can see the LEGO stamp on the pieces when he shows close ups.. Obviously not lepin. I bet this guy bought replacements off bricklink or he bought it incomplete and had to get pieces to finish it, and were slightly different.

The 2001 has the proportions of the CR70 Corvette which is featured in Ep 3. The 2019 has the proportions more fitting to a CR90, which is what the Tantive IV actually was. It would be really cool to see someone convert the '01 model into the CR70 from the film by swapping the red trim pcs to blue

I’ve always thought stud shooters and flick fire missiles are stupid, I hate them. It’s just not how LEGO is meant. It is much more fun to use your imagination but nowadays that doesn’t seam to be something kids have though (maybe because of stuff like this). If I would have a lego pirate ship battle I would never shoot studs or what ever with the “playable friendly” canons. I would imagine it was shooting as I destroyed the other ship, a stud shooter can’t do that, it doesn’t do anything.

The 2009 I have very fond memories of it, as it was a great bonding experience with my dad and uncle, and was one of my first LEGO sets, and while I am very sad that it didn’t win, I respect your choice, as the winner was a great pick!

you should do an Image search on your favorite search engine and here for lego CR90 Corvette. There are a hand full of custom builds as large as the 2001 and are more correct looking to on screen. Some even offering instructions.

Those dark red pieces were made specially FOR the 2001 model, because Lego didn't make them before then. Those are bonus cool points the other models will never have.

I was able to get the 2009 tantive 4 a few years ago for $175 Canadian. Which was already a good deal for a retired set but it also had the rare Leia with smooth hair

That’s Because There Weren’t So Many Specialized Pieces That They Are Now To Look Better! The Old One Was The Best Set Out Of The 3! It Was WAY Ahead Of It’s Time! The Newer One Could Have Been Better By Loads Of Newer Pieces But The Designer Didnt Accomplish It’s Top Priority For The Ship’s Interior Unlike The Old One Which Was AGAIN Way Ahead Of It’s Time For Basically Every Feature The Ship Should Include As Per The Technology Of 2001!

i think its stupid to account for inflation in your price catogory because it makes no sense. the price was differnt back then because thats what the money was worth back then and mabye other factors played into that but saying a set was worth 200 back then but today 250 is pointless because you couldnt get the set today for that price and it was sold under completeley different factors than today.

I understand judging value as a comparison of original retail prices, adjusted for inflation, but since older models are no longer available except through the second-hand market, isn't the current market value the only value that matters? It's not like most of us have the option of traveling back in time and buying them brand new...

The 2001 Tantive IV is my personal favourite, the other two are small and don’t really have that Lego feeling due to being smooth. The minifigures don’t look very good, but I can just buy the newer remakes. It doesn’t need playability, we don’t really need it (unless it’s for stop motion).

A major drawback of the 2009 version is the side panels of the center section come off pretty easily. You can see they are held in place by a single 90 degree connecting piece and I can only describe it to stinginess of Lego because why not put two of those 90 degree connecting pieces instead of just one?

The only part that 2019 loses for the 2009 is the cockpit. I don’t like these cockpits you need to “disassemble” to open it. Also the 2009 have the glass so you can see the mini figures instead stickers. Also I think it’s not too much fair compare UCS models with the regular one, at least not with playability category. But is a great comparison anyways. Congrats!

I have the 09 model and the white on clear cockpit looks significantly better in person, maybe thats just me. I think the 19 loses a lot of the fun that the 09 has and at a steeper price thats a hard no. Just imo but, I love my 09 lol

I like the classic Star Wars minifigs they hold a special place in my heart. This is probably because I played the crap out of Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga.
