Seeing the UCS next to the old playset really puts things into perspective on how big it is!

Since the UCS Venator came with a micro gunship, I think a nice touch to make the Venator live up to its role as a ship carrier is making a bunch of micro ships such as more gunships, arc-170s, y-wings, etc.

This set is absolutely gorgeous. Such a shame about the stickers and Rex mini figure. When a set is this expensive, there’s simply no excuse for those flaws. I really think there should be no stickers on any 18+ sets, especially when over the $200 price point. I’ll definitely be attempting to replace the stickers with brick built details.

Wullf Yularen is actually the Clone Wars narrator. It's a pretty cool pick for an anniversary set.

I think it’s a crime that the only Confederate vessel Lego has ever created, nevermind a UCS set, is the Malevolence.

Stickers to me are absolutely unacceptable at this price point. And aside from Rex’s waist cape, everything else is just.. wow

I am beyond happy for this set to come out. Lego star wars and star wars in general is my whole life. while ill never be able to afford this set your video gives me hope that one day I can build my own.

I Know prequel UCS sets are few and far between, but I am really hopeful that we can get a Trade Federation MTT in the near future. It’s Awsome the republic has gotten these two wonderful and well deserved sets, but man would I love some droid love on the UCS side. Tiles in between clips were never illegal because it's the same as putting a tile in a minifigure hand. Plates don't have that small lip that tiles do, so plates in clips are illegal. A lot of people just got confused and thought it applied to both

Now we need a UCS AT-TE to make the Republic line of UCS sets feel more complete. with the Imperial side having the AT-AT it only makes sense we get a AT-TE in the future

This set is a dream come true. We saw Rex in live action. We now have Yularen and Rex, and best of all an incredible display piece. This will be at the center of my collection shelves.

I actually prefer stickers on 6x6 tiles because they cover up the tiles' matte finish, which would otherwise look out of place next to the other LEGO pieces. I've always loved these UCS sets, but I never found a reason to justify spending that much money on something that would mostly only be good for display. But I think I might get this one! The Clone Wars (and Ahsoka, in particular) really was crucial to making me the person I am today. If it hadn't been for that, I don't think I would be in nearly as good a place mentally as I am now. And this set just looks so good that I think I can justify getting this one! Also, the fact that they put screenshots from an animated TV show on the box of an 18+ set shows just how highly regarded The Clone Wars is! I'm thinking about integrating this set into a giant diorama of the final two scenes of Victory and Death!

I'm really, really struggling with this having stickers at this price tag. Having those 6 tiles be printed seems MORE than reasonable for a $650 set. Especially when it has way less in the way of brick-built details compared to the ISD. I still love the set, and am seriously considering it, but I won't pull the trigger until I see it built in person and can decide how obvious those stickers are myself.

That's a really cool set that most people will never own either due to price or size but that would be awesome to have.

Love the passion David. I’m a huge Clone Wars fan myself and am so excited to get my hands on this awesome set. I do feel LEGO could have done more to include a miniature or possibly minifig scale interior in the rear of the Venator (which would be a cool video David for you to add one) and the three-piece Gunship could have been a more detailed miniature build, but besides the Captain Rex minifig (which has many issues), I am most disappointed that LEGO didn’t print the Republic logo. That said, very cool to get the 20th anniversary brick in the set… I’m glad that’s printed.

First UCS set I ever bought, love the Venator

I think the Star Destroyer is way better value at 50 dollars more. It's a huge chunk of grey but so is the movie version, yet they capture all those small details well and it really has that massive presence. For this one yes it is very accurate in its shape but that's about it. I might have interest for this if it had some kind of interior or a more interesting build, but it looks like you just build a big skeleton and slap some plates around it. I'm sure it's more complex than that, but it just seems kind of boring to me, as this is supposed to be a Lego set, not a model kit. And for that reason, if I wanted to display a Venator of this size, I'd much rather buy a model kit of this star ship than this set because I don't see how this brings anything more to the table other than the figures.

If you do build other 2 Venators, you definitely need to customize the bridges so only one Venator has red ones. And make a cool video with all three of them. the red bridge one leading them obviously.

Didn't we get Yularen in a polybag before? The fact they put Rex in a 600 € set. Man, I feel bad for the kids who will never get this minifig.

While I will eventually get this set, I think the biggest thing ruining my excitement is the price. Ideally, the price would be $500 to $550, that seems a little too good to be true, but even though it was 2002, it was also only $300 for the first Imperial Star Destroyer, 10030, and it was 3096 pieces, a number of them being some of those larger plates, and it remained that way for over 5 years before getting phased out. I also made sure to buy the UCS Landspeeder on day one back in 2022 because $200 for an 1890 piece set (half of which were a fairly uncommon color) was definitely worth it, and thankfully I did because the price jumped up $40. I would stomach $600, that feels like the proper compromise because I know that prices continue to rise, but that extra $50 is a bit of a downer. Also I'm going to have to find a way to fix that tile and clip situation on the bridges because even if it's been a thing for about 10 years now, such a connection is not acceptable. There is not a doubt in my mind that even though I never plan to take apart this ship, those clips will be warped forever, I don't care if the design of the clip is "meant to tolerate it" these days, I deny such claims. I'm sure there's a way to do it with 2x2 center brackets and some clear plates in between the tiles, there has got to be a better way than this. Still, I'm happy to see such a set has been made, and it will make a fine addition to my collection when I feel it's right to pick up. Right now, I'm looking for May 4th as the goal. October is when VIP tends to do something with double points and promos, I've still got a few sets I want, that will help boost my rewards and those can go towards the Venator, even though it will hamper the double points on Star Wars sets that will likely be happening at the same time, about $500 will still end up resulting in about a $40 reward, and that's not even including what other goodies will be available with a large purchase, too.

The set looks great and a great review. I have an Admiral Yularen minifigure with white hair. It was a polybag from 2015

For $650 I think it should have come with way more Minifigures and be bigger, so you can fit clone troopers in the bridge and all inside the venator. Don't get me wrong it's cool but I don't think your getting what you paid for.

Buy the Venator from Mould King. Cheaper, Bigger, Better Bricks, Double the Parts...

Absolutely love the review! Minor correction, though: you mentioned a few times that this was our first time getting a Yularen minifigure, but we already have a few years ago. He was in a polybag wearing his imperial uniform. Aside from that, this video was perfection, your joy for LEGO Star Wars is infectious!

While I personally want to see a new playset of it, this might be the 2nd UCS I buy.

Hot take, Rex was totally the wrong figure for this set. It should have been a General Skywalker in Clone Wars gear exclusive fig since along with Yularan this would represent his command cruiser.

@SolidBrixStudios The Venator is a precursor to the ISD so to scale they look pretty close. If you’re a military veteran like me you notice these things. Think about a Naval aircraft carrier that can fly. 🔥🔥🙏🏾

Im really glad they didn’t put an interior on it, and they focused more on the strength of the design. Owning the ISD, I can confirm if there was ever any interior I would never look at it.

Having to get a separate wai🎉st cape is obviously annoying. But by far this captain rex figure is way better than the previous version that i own.

I know the main support of the skeleton runs right down the middle of the ship where the hanger would be….. but is there any reason why they couldn’t have split the technic support and had it go in two paths around it to let them still put an interior in? I feel like that wouldn’t be too terribly difficult to make work. You still get the support needed but also you have the room to put in a small hanger area with some stickers or more ideally, prints on the sides to give the illusion of depth

Great review. Have to say, it’s really disappointing that there is no opening topside hangar bay, and no Obi Wan’s Starfighter, let alone both (+Anakin’s) from ROTS included. I think not going that route is a big mistake for this set for general sale.

Cleaning the dist off of that thing is gonna be a nightmare lol

Looks really awesome but it’s definitely way over priced for the piece count. That’s especially disappointing since the symbols on top are stickers rather than printed, Rex doesn’t even have a waist cape, and it’s a shame they couldn’t have given it some sort of interior such as the iconic opening hanger. Wow does it look great from the outside! But it could’ve been so much more, especially for that price point so it’s a shame to see corners being cut.

For the markup on Lego they should NOT charge more for printed pieces, especially not ten bucks more. Those tiles should have been printed, all of them. I also think it is super disappointing they didn't include a minifig interior. Some barracks, armory and hallway on one side and a meeting room, engine room and hall on the other would have been super cool to see. A small bridge hidden away in the top half would have been cool too.

While I would love the idea of being able to swap this ship between it's TCW and ROTS versions, the republic fleet symbols are much farther down the nose of the ship on the ROTS version so they would have had to find a way to be able to move those around as well as swapping out the bridges.

I know I posted this on MandR’s video but here’s an excuse for the Rex fig for being…questionable. I kind of think they brought this fig out for Ahsoka even though yes it is a Clone Wars Venator, if you see in Ahsoka in the newest episode with the flashback, and you see Rex, he has a big ammo pouch, just like the figure, I don’t know what source they got it from, maybe they got it early from Disney, but this is my reasoning, hope you it doesn’t fuel people’s anger and it actually puts a bucket of water in it 😅😊

This is probably the only UCS set I’ve always wanted, and I will try to save as much as possible to own it !

The two things we now need are a UCS Acclamator and UCS Victory.

The Venator is pinacle of starship design not only in SW, TOP on my list IMHO. Sadly there is no way for me to afford this bad boy and no real space to properly display this beast of a set. I wish LEGO made the Executor 75356 scale model of this. Anyway Im happy for you all who can have and build it, just watching this brings me joy.

Very cool, but for the size and the price very disappointing that there is no interior.

The Lego designers themselves said that it's impossible for them to print on 6x6 tiles without the hole in the middle, like on the specifications card. They said if they could have printed if without that, they would've.

Favorite Star Wars ship. Not sure if it’s in the budget right now but I’ll definitely own before it retires. I could care less about the mini figs and don’t care about the printing issues since the scale of the parts of the body aren’t accurate anyways and they’re essentially chsractures. 10/10 for me
