When I first saw parts pouring out I immediately thought at some point I would see some hamster feed pouring out.

I'm really excited to get this set since I work in construction, specifically around concrete trucks. Huge missed opportunity for a B model, what they should have done was an american style mixer, like a peterbilt or a Mack, one with a single front axle and a more protruding front engine bay. I feel that would have been a fairly easy B model to design..

Easily the most aesthetically pleasing of the late-2020 sets, especially in terms of colour. I wasn't planning on buying this set (my goto for this wave of releases was the tilt-o-rotor), but I think that after watching this video, this has now cemented (!!!) itself as my number one contender for sets that I must get for the second half of 2020.

Five seconds into the show and I knew that this will be a perfect review again! I think your judgement is very reasonable. The overall design is not bad, but it is not very good either. The "empty space" between cabin and drum could have been used easily to make this set "powerfunction-ready": Two motors, one for driving and turning the drum (with manually switch to direct the power in three ways) and one motor for steering. The maximum angle of steering is quite poor, so is the bad "engine simulation". But anyway, if you can get this set at around 85 EUR it will be a "must-have".

I love your in-depth analysis of these sets. Given the minor issues you've noted, have you ever thought about making "super sets" where you modify a stock set to resolve the issues? Not really changing it dramatically, but perfecting what's already there. I've done it with nearly every set I've owned and I'd love to see your take on it.

I've always seen these trucks with the three extra chute attachments, which I feel would've added a lot more play functionality to the truck with minimal added parts. Otherwise, seems legit. Good review Sariel, as always.

I think what makes a concrete truck different from any other truck is the drum. So to just makes that out of specialized pieces defeats the purpose of making a concrete truck in the first place. There was a moc in the same scale posted recently on eurobricks with a panel built drum that looked great. It does look good though.

As a B model, I'd you could build some sort of concrete maker (the big building) , or at least a "Silo" where the mixer fills up. That would be a nice use of the specialized part IMO

Huh, I didn't realize they were any different to the previous ones, but I ordered a new 42082 Rough Terrain Crane set (shipped from a US warehouse on 2020-06-30) and it came with the revised Technic Changeover Catch. Interesting to note that they've changed it in existing sets as well. I assumed the 2-fin shape was for reduced friction when sliding along an axle, may have to pull some stuff apart so I can try the two types side by side.

Great review!! Love the hamsters!! The only thing I wish this cement mixer had was the funnel that should be above the back of the drum where they pour water in. It looks weird without that.

I guess the reason for double wheels might be that they would easily come off together with the axle. There might not be enough space to connect the axle with more than just the 12 tooth gear inside the differential. Or they just wanted to save on costs... Opening shot looked like the bond intro.

Thanks for you review! Could you please help me with my dilemma? I got about 5 hundred pln to spend on technic, and I'm really torn between 42081, 42094 (which I'd slightly modify), 42111 and 42112. Which you'd recommend?

Wasn’t totally sold on this model until I saw your review. Probably a set I will end up getting. I don’t like the turning radius and wish they would have added room for motors.

The concrete is spilling everywhere! Would be nice to have a container to catch it. Also, the drum will look more realistic if it is geared down.

I think that big drum could also be used in a MOC Rotopress refuse truck!

I'd love to see US concrete truck as a B-model, they're so crazy with multiple wheels and tipper drum pointing front.

One thing that didn't get mentioned: Does the "engine" (it hardly is an engine) come with cupholders? Since it is in the middle of the cabin...

It's an interesting set for sure and is the best looking of these trucks. However i do think the model would've benifited by instead of linking the mixing barrel to the wheels, add a battery box behind the cab and a medium motor under the barrel, thus making the barrel run off the power functions motor. It would also give the set a bit more realism given that the drum is turned by a motor on the truck's frame rather than the one powering the wheels in real mixers

You said that it's a shame of not having double rear wheels. How about you try to fix that? I would be very interested to see your solution

I drive a mixer truck for a living and some companies are going to super single tires on the drive axles. This may be what they modeled this kit after.

2:42 1. I've got the same problem as your. Moving axle 3 with stud up by half a stud solves the problem. 2. In Lego website building instruction, they have changed the axle 3 with stud and the round tile 1x1 to an axle 3 and a technic bush, respectively. So, the later version of this set will include these parts instead. I wonder why Lego didn't test this set as well as 42113 with 8-tooth gear problem before they're released.

If the set drops to 90€-95€ does it have a higher star rating for the value?

There aren't many things that LEGO could do as a B-model for this set, but a tanker truck or an oversized load hauler with a silo on the back don't seem like bad ideas, would need a few more pieces though...

I think the lego should make some concrete pump truck in the next technic wave

The thing about the B model is that it's design needs to work with the Cement Mixer A model but isn't a cement mixer truck. With this set including two huge cement mixer pieces there isn't really anything you can make. I can understand this one not having a B Model much better than the Mobile Crane since it's composition of pieces has better flexibility than the Cement Mixer.

I don't know why but I'm was shure that a new category in the review will appear and it append ( revised part ) !!

Maybe they omitted the B-Model because much of this one is taken by the specialized drum pieces. For example, the MACK that came out a few years ago was also relatively bare. Most of it was just beams that made up the chassis and trailer. But because of the included Container and its panels, it allowed a B-Model that could make use of them by having actual structure. Here, if you remove the drum, you're just left with some chassis beams, 8 wheels and a few panels from the cabin. I guess you could make a semi out of them, with double-wheel axles, but that's about it. And with LEGO trying to always match the models in theme (even if they come out very different, such as the Bucket Wheel Excavator and the Mobile Ore Processor), they probably couldn't figure out a cement related piece of machinery that they could make out of the truck parts...
