I seem to be having some issues with the rear differential... when i turn one of the last wheels (by hand, i haven't finished building yet) it makes all the wheels turn. Does this mean i made a mistake somewhere?

I just finished this set and i love it! The gearbox was the hardest part of the build. Its amazing to play with this set!

Excellent review. I just finished building this and it is much bigger than I thought. It drives really well. One thing I noticed in the video and also with the one I built, that the bed tends to vibrate when raising or lowering. Any idea what could be causing that and how to make it go smoother?

At minute 7:01 you can pick up the hauler from the cab, if I do that it disconnects from the back at the black gear connector. Something is not connected. Help

i'm having a problem in 3rd gear, if the car goes forward it's very smooth, but if i reverse the car can't move or it's very difficult to move. Can you help me ?

Just finished this set. I'd give it a resounding yes as well. Glad I'm not the only one that had problems building the gear box. That was the hardest part I've ever made

Hey unbrickme I found a mod u could do which gets rid of the tipping function and adds a 4th speed in its place by changing 2 gear near the gear ring shifter which would go down into the central diff

Did the gearbox ever made cracking noises when under heavy load? Or in general when driving?

Terrific review. Your knowledge of lego history is pretty phenomenal. This set looks phenomenal. The gear box is amazing. The only downside is the performance. I don't mean the dumper at the back which is great I'm talking about its speed / torque. Is it worth the price? yes without a doubt

My son is getting this set to help with moving a half pallet load of Kewannee Skippers across our yard. Yes, we will be using a Lego Technic Volvo truck to actually move a half pallet load of stone. This will be the ultimate durability test for this set. I will be posting videos in a few months once we start the project.

I would rather have the gear reducers than the planetary wheel hubs because if you put the gear reducers upright, they serve as portal axles, improving the ground clearance. Great for MOCs!!!!!

The gearbox can get out of sync. That’s why the app has a re sync function. I once had it switching to the dump function instead of the 2nd gear. This was a strange behavior.

Well presented video - didn't realize this is the first set with a motorized gearbox change system. 😀

As an owner of this set, I really wish they did something different for the engine. In third gear especially, it makes A LOT of noise and could be improved by using a system more akin to real engines.

Nice video. But there was an earlier set that had a motorised two-speed gear box: LEGO Technic 8094 Control Center. Checkout the mobile crane.

I think it is problematic when LEGO uses apps. That means I can not have this set in a collection in 20 years, as the app probably will be wayy out of date by then. And much less add this to a collection that will be passed through generations. I think it is a shame that they take away from the timelessness that always was a part of the hard plast bricks we love.

Unfortunately, the truck stops completely, shifts gears, then tries to drive from a stop position to 2nd gear. It does the same thing for 3rd gear as well. The truck does not take advantage of the built-up momentum when shifting gears. I don't know how to improve this (fix it). It is amazing that it auto shifts, but I think that comes from the programming of the hub. If you ever looked at the Lego PF programming Android application, you will see all kinds of features are available. Through the built in technology in the hub, the motor connectors provide feedback besides "turn CC" or "turn CCW". If I ever get time and space, I will build the alternate models and see how they perform. I have 4 of this kit, so, if I have the space and time, I am able to build the road grader, the mining dump truck, and the scraper.

Hi, just building mine and I’m having selector problems...shifts 1st to 2nd fine, but going to 3rd it selects the tip function. It looks like the top selector is moving too far forward. Do you see an adjuster for the selectors or have I missed something?

my only issue with the hole hub, is the fact it uses an app, just include a bloody controller, not everyone wants to faff about with the app

If u think the mechanism for turning the hub on then you should get 42054 class xerion you dont even go near the battery box

how should the white slipper clutch operate? I assume, that it should slipper during dumping, when there is no more torque to dump, but mine dumping just got stuck, when I try to hold it with force. Also I suggest to put a grease on the gears, this will increase the torque delivered to wheels for about 25-30%. Even with that, I am disapointed with the torque, the truck has no power to operate in terain even without load.

Would be really cool if the could include the locking differential features the real one has. I drive the 30 ton versions for work and those have 5 locking differentials that you can lock on the go. Those trucks will literally go anywhere.

@Unbrickme, you have great attitude & presentation style! Up until last November, I was unaware that Lego was into bald kids with grey hair. After some research, I decided on 42114 last 29.11.20. Great set to put together. Sadly, I very likely messed up! Something in the gear box does not look right. I do not think I properly installed the gear shifter (part #6227330 & its u-shaped pair) Truck voluntarily snaps & veers left when left alone. Ugly. If the shifter install is at fault, what is the most sensible (I'm shooting in the dark here) approach to correct my problem. Thanks for your guidance!

the only thing that doesn't make this set perfect for me is the lack of suspension in the rear. I may get this set and try and implement it. I looked at the instructions and it looks doable. If I do it and anyone is interest in it then I'll make a video on it. It'll take a lot of mods to the rear axles though.

Next step is to get 7+r with accurate gear ratios gear box from LEGO. Not sure why they replicate everything from the real super cars to the LEGO ones except for the useless 8 speed transmission that is nothing like the real life counter part, even though LEGO could certainly pull it off..

Not used for GBCs I mean the end it just lower due to standard 10 bricks tall gbc module. tries a ramps. lifts. And others
