This is where Jang makes my life SO much better regarding the Lego world: I would never buy a Trolls set (though I liked some things about the Trolls movie). I love Jang's careful, meticulous, detailed and professional -- not to mention friendly-voiced -- description in 4K in his super-studio, so I can know and learn about so many aspects of this set without buying it. Thank you Bossman!
This is he biggest miss from LEGO in a long, long time. The minifigures absolutely should have had the classic iconic trolls hair, and not a hard plastic hair piece like regular LEGO minifigures. If they had the classic troll-style hair, I think these would have been hugely popular and hugely collectable. The trolls hair is iconic and removing that is a huge mistake. I've not seen the films, but I know from a quick Google search that in the film they do have the classic troll-style hair. Huge miss from LEGO. I don't think these sets are going to appeal to many LEGO fans and certainly not many Trolls fans.
Jang, you pioneered the infinite white void, but I gotta say- the wood background looks so much better for the minifigs. Wouldn’t mind something like this for the full scale sets someday, it gives an intuitive sense of scale and a more natural tone to the background.
The figure which can only turn it's head . . . I hope someone will use it to make an animated nightmare sequence. Imagine Batman's head on it, lol. I wonder if the troll hair will fit on Lego Mojo Jojo (From the Powerpuff Girls).
My girls all want you to know that the opening with the "go away" doormat is in fact the entrance to Branch's underground dwelling. He's an antisocial fellow practicing social distancing before it was the norm. Now you know. :)
I am glad you are reviewing these troll sets, because although I am likely to never get these, I am still very interested in them and you opinions of them.
I really hope Jang reviews the Lego Fast and Furious set. I'm not really a big fan of Lego Technic but if it goes well with the Lego Creator Expert cars I might get it
I love how you come out right away stating the fact you know very little about the trolls theme both old and new. Makes for a very true brick review w/out the bias attached. Your very honest anyway so I'm never worried about bias. I too am intrigued about these mew sets. The color pallet is awesome.
Those sets are making me feel very uneasy. There is something that I find deeply uncanny in those figures and the colors bring me some bad memories. This is quite weird as I have never felt this before when lookint at Lego.
Yes! was just thinkin' that. You could get scissors or a Sword of Exact Zero and make some stickers that fit tiles, the sides of bricks, and even that horrid plain back of the R2D2 Mini-Figure.
Thanks for the review. I agree that $40.00 seems "right" for this set. Unfortunately in Canada, it is $70.00. Might be a challenge to find it at 40% off, but who knows what'll be happening this time next year in terms of sales.
I’m only watching a review of this set I love the jangbricks review style. With the high standards of audio, visuals and content covered in the video, I know this is high quality channel. I’m never going to buy a licensed set because LEGO is not an action figure company
From the original pictures, I was expecting those pods to be built up from those pieces that they made the large balloons from, but just in new colours... I'm re-assessing my opinions (more favourably) on getting 1 or more of the sets from this range.
I recommend watching the first trolls movie. I expected it to be terrible but it was very good - not even just decent. Good sense of humor, fun music, really well done by dream works.
If LEGO make the new cupcake part in light grey, black or red i think it would be great for building a round pagoda or japanese temple in Architecture scale
It's indeed in a weird way quite good for the intended target audience, but at the same time just feels like a missed opportunity. I was particularly put off by some of the flimsy construction. My left hand side pod barely stays in place because the branch always turns in the single hole. Not well thought out. also the interior of the main build could have used some greebly details instead of being an empty hull mostly.
I love your reviews of sets other lego youtubers dont tend to review! I really enjoyed this, and the friends one you did a while back. Its really cool to see what lego is making even if I probably wont buy it myself. I hope you keep it up even though they seem to not get as many views
The purple/white hair piece would be a good tree stump, if it would be made in reddish brown or dark brown. There are so many interesting parts in this set, in general.
Man this is like elves, but from the 80s... yeesh, i am not saying that this set is bad... far from it. Just that it reminds me of elves, and kind of irks me.
The heads have 4 studs on top, so the hair will similarly fit over over a 2x2 round brick (with just a little gap around the edges). A 2x2 will fit onto a head as well. The hole in the top of the up-do hair, however, will not fit a 2x2 within it.
I am not showing this video to my kids cause they will overwhelm me with requests to buy the entire wave of LEGO Trolls. By the way - take a look at the Trolls Netflix show, it is actually funny! Excellent review, as always.
Heyo. I really enjoy your videos and I have been enjoying your vids for years. I recently started a LEGO review channel where I bring back old sets ( It’s named Brick Central, has 26 subs, and I’m making a vid about Lennox Lion Attack from Chima today). Do you have any tips for gaining traction? Just asking since this is a new vid and you’re the biggest LEGO channel on RU-vid (except for LEGO itself).
Such an odd choice to LEGOfy. Not sure about this set/theme. Pink plate/bracket and musical notes were a cool surprise. I see these pods being used for Christmas Tree decorations. Does Cooper's body fit on top of a troll head?
I really hate the heads without the hair. At least with the standard minifigure head, the bald look doesn't look too too bad. The Troll bald look is just awful and they would have to come up with a bald attachment to make it work.
I am not interested in buying the Trolls sets but am interested in seeing them in a review to see what they are like and interested in what the pieces and colors are. Thanks for doing this review.
